Nintendo Switch Lite announced - Releasing Sept. 20
Glen-i replied to Nicktendo's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Real truth bomb right there. @Dcubed already mentioned a better, cheaper solution for that. I'm not interested in this. I like the hybrid nature of the Switch. Best thing about it. -
This is my biggest worry about Dynamax. It might be too much to counteract through normal means. Now granted, in that example you gave, that electric Pokémon wouldn't resist a water move, something like Grass might stand a chance. But three turns of constantly powerful attacks from a stat-boosted Pokémon? If it is that powerful, moves like Protect and Spiky Shield will become absolutely vital to doing well in battles. Even outside of competitive ones. And those moves are the most boring, pace-killing moves ever. Having to sacrifice Pokémon isn't good strategy, well, unless you used Explosion to take down a full-HP Pokémon with one in the red.

Oh my gosh, Tetris 99 is going to slowly turn into "Modern Day Tetris DS" with these themes, isn't it? I'm totally OK with that!

Eh, I could probably find a way cuter plushie of it much easier. Anyway, Pokémon amiibo are amongst the worst for actual usage.

Ooooh. Kinda like the SNES Mini? That feature was awesome.

Super Mario Maker 2 - Level Share/Feedback thread

@Sméagol The reward was the friends you made along the way. I'm not too keen on maze levels too, but with me making 32 levels in the original game, I had to do some kind of Ghost House Maze level. Just felt needed. -
The problem with that idea is that most people on social media aren't searching for discussion on a specific game. Miiverse consisted of people who were looking for conversation based on the game they were playing. It was also a great way for people looking for help to get advice. I mean, most of us probably remember that person playing Super Metroid asking the infamous question, "Why can't Metroid crawl?" Well, he ended up finishing the game with the advice he got from more experienced players on Miiverse. Sticking with Virtual Console, Miiverse also had a strange influence on older games. Golden Sun: The Lost Age had a few cases of people posting their password from the first game, so that people who only wanted to play the second one, or missed something in the first game, could still see everything the second game had to offer. Then there was the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games, whose Miiverse board mostly consisted of people who got wiped out in a dungeon asking others for a rescue, so they don't have to start a dungeon again. Some people even rescued people posting on Miiverse using their original retail copies of the games. It was nutso! You just can't get that easy access to help on social media, and it bums me out.

I find that basing a level on one single concept goes a long way to making a satisfying level. Play around with some of the stuff you can put in. For example, mess around with the POW Block, combine it with other features and enemies and see what happens. Inspiration might strike and you can build off of that. Of course, you've only just started making a level, so it's more important that you learn what stuff does in the first place. But keep that in mind for any later levels you make. As for your pipe conundrum, have you tried using the One-way Gate? It's a very easy way to make sure Mario can't backtrack through something. -
Because someone's favourite Pokémon is Palkia.

Miiverse was a genuine rare moment where Nintendo were actually ahead of the competition in one aspect. But WiiU flopped, so almost everything to do with it was dropped. Such a shame.

Seeing as I play Pokemon competitively, I'll try and keep this brief. Z-Moves were a once per battle mechanic that significantly increased the damage output of an attack. It basically gave each trainer a nuke button for dealing with difficult opponents. I wasn't a fan, there was little strategy involved. Mega Evolution, depending on the Pokémon, increased it's stats by a total of 100 (It was distributed differently depending on the Pokémon, so Venusaur would get more of a defensive boost while Mewtwo would get it's Special stats enhanced) Some Pokémon would even change their typing and ability. (Gyarados changes from Water/Flying to Water/Dark) It was a good concept executed kinda poorly. It was a great opportunity for weaker Pokémon to become more viable. (Beedrill went from a complete joke to a genuine glass cannon threat) The problem is Game Freak gave Mega Evolutions to popular Pokémon that were already really strong. (Such as Mewtwo, Rayquaza and others) and it kinda fell apart by the time Gen 6 ended. Dynamax seemed to be a combination of both, but with a 3 turn time limit. This Gigantamaxing confirms that there's a better version that only certain Pokémon can use. Much like Mega Evolution. If Game Freak keep it in check and only give Gigantamaxing to Pokémon that aren't already really useful, there's a good potential for competitive play to be more balanced, but I'm not getting my hopes up, considering the blatant pandering they've been pulling since X/Y.
-
That was never gonna happen anyway. Even before this better version was explained, why Dynamax a weaker Pokémon when you can Dynamax an already useful Pokémon and make it even better? It's the Mega Rayquaza conundrum, why use any other Mega Evolution when Rayquaza has a clear inherent advantage over everyone else? (Rayquaza didn't need to use up an item slot to Mega Evolve, so you could use a different item)
-
Simply put. Gigantamax is a better version of Dynamax that only a select few Pokémon can actually use. It's a Mega Evolution reboot. G-Max Moves are Z-Moves. Specifically, the Z-Moves that only one Pokémon species could use.
-
Serious question, was that truly the case when Mario Kart DS came out?
-
By that description, Gigantamaxing is basically temporary Mega Evolution while G-Max is Z-Moves. I mean, the only difference is that certain Pokémon get more of an advantage when they use it... Wait a sec... OH MY ARCEUS! DYNAMAXING IS A BLATANT RIP-OFF OF AWAKENING FROM SUPER MYSTERY DUNGEON! Let me explain. Awakening was a feature that Chunsoft used to implement Mega Evolution in a game that doesn't have trainers. Simply put, some items let a Pokémon enter awakening state for a limited amount of time. This increased their stats and allowed them to block attacks from the front. But when certain Pokémon did this (Charizard or Mewtwo for example), they Mega Evolve as well, giving them a bigger advantage. (Although to balance things out, Mega Evolved Pokémon go on a rampage when it runs out which may hurt your team) With this explanation on what Dynamaxing is, the similarities are glaring.

Before I get on with catching up with the few levels posted above. I've finished my 2nd remastered WiiU level. It was my 11th upload back then, effectively level 3-3. Unlike my first one, the layout of the rooms are quite a bit different compared to the Mario Maker 1 version, you wouldn't be able to tell just from playing it though. Stuff had to be moved around to make use of the scroll lock feature, which is amazing for Ghost Houses. Like all my WiiU levels I'll post, there's an optional locked door for those of you who like to explore every nook and cranny to find red coins. EDIT: Caught up on everyone's levels now. I left a comment in-game, but I just want to say that @Mike's latest level was really great. A clear theme, nice difficulty curve and a finale that put a big massive smile on my face. Kudos! -
Yep, I always try to get @Dcubed and @Ugh first aid to try out my levels. @Dcubed has an annoying but useful knack for doing ridiculously stupid things that a creator could easily miss.

There should be a share button underneath your tweet. Copying the URL and pasting it in your post should do it. -

I enjoyed it a lot more now. Despite me being incredibly stupid. I'm disappointed in myself as well. -

I mean, this game introduced multiple choices of coloured pipe. You'd be mad not to! -
I'm so bloody confused! These spikes just change so much and I can't punt anymore!
-
I can't defend for toffee.
-
OK, @Sofiz I'm booting up the game now.

Yep, thought it would be that one you're missing. It's cool though, it's just an extra optional challenge.
