3DS and Wii U eShop purchases to end March 2023
Glen-i replied to Helmsly's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Yeah, I'd just go for Crystal in that situation, @Julius. The Suicune side story (Freeing up the Master Ball for either Entei or Raikou), animated Pokémon, choice of gender, Battle Tower, and the "Now available in the West" GS Ball event, which nets you a legit Celebi, make Gold and Silver almost redundant in that respect. -
I kinda lost all interest once I realised how much of an online focus it has. I was hoping for more of a Wii Sports Resort kind of goal system.

3DS and Wii U eShop purchases to end March 2023

Seconded, it's one of the finest Pokémon spin-offs out there. -
Harsh! Well, there's plenty of time to get on over to Time Trials and use the triple mushrooms you're given to figure out good places to use them.

Next week, it's a new month, so it's time for a Theme Night. Next Theme Night: Thursday 8pm It's about time I've spiced things up with an item change. The class is lower then usual, but to make up for it, the selection of items is restricted to Mushrooms and Coins. The courses have been tailor picked to allow many opportunities to exploit corner cutting and shortcuts, so your knowledge of course layout, forward planning, and driving skill will be put to the test here.

Bad luck for @Ike on Tokyo Blur. That would've hit me if I didn't have a bad feeling about it.

Yes please.

Defintely.

That's right.

Another digital event coming on the 10th of May.

Just going to give a new line that made me spew Fanta out of my mouth without any context. Playing this game over breakfast might have been a mistake. The context, absurdity, and delivery was just too much!

Ultra Deluxe is out now. Been playing it non-stop for the past 8 hours. It's brill! I'm not going to go into details, because it's far too soon. But I have found 8 endings that defo weren't in the original game. And I'm almost certain of where I can find at least 8 more. They weren't kidding when they said there's more then double the dialogue of the 2013 release! EDIT: Launch Trailer.

What are various series' lowest points?
Glen-i replied to Glen-i's topic in General Gaming Discussion
I'm almost certain it was Ninty trying to make lightning strike twice. The Soul Caliber II guest characters kinda prove my point about how crossover characters have to somewhat make sense. Link, naturally, uses a lot of weapons, and doesn't look totally out of place in that roster. Compare that to the other platforms, which don't quite hit that natural inclusion sweet spot with their guest characters. Also helps that Link being in a non-Nintendo game was a huge deal back then. You can't find many other characters from that era with that kind of clout. -
Digimon Survive - Switch, PS4, XBOne, XBS, Steam
Glen-i replied to Glen-i's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Sort of? They're both similar in that they are Strategy RPG's, but from what little information we have, here's what I can gleam from it. Mario X Rabbids takes a lot of its cues from XCom, where utilising cover plays a very important part with winning battles. I doubt those cover based battles will be in this. Instead, this seems to take it's inspiration from more traditional fare, such as Fire Emblem or Pokémon Conquest. From that screenshot, it seems attacking from higher terrain is more advantageous. I also spot a "Flank Attack" feature, so maybe you do more damage if you get an enemy between 2 of your Digimon? And don't forget that it seems that half of the game is some kind of Visual Novel thing. Although it remains to be seen just how prominent each of those sections are. -
It was a valiant attempt. You think after what happened with EarthBound Beginnings, he'd think about it, but nope! Never change @Hero-of-Time! I say that knowing full well that I'm nearing the end of Grandia and I'm routinely hacking off a third of a Boss's HP with one attack! So I'm almost just as bad. Although I grind more with a "Kill everything along the way" method, then a "Hang around one place and whack Metal Slimes" one.

I mean, you're a fan of PMD, so it doesn't surprise me that the whole "Light-hearted visuals make more serious moments impactful" shtick that DQ has refined to an artform is something you'd like about the series. DQV is another entry that really pulls it off well. That game really makes you feel for the hero there, despite being mute as always. Seeing the two of you give your thoughts as you progress through it has made me start thinking of the upcoming DQ XII, and how it has been toted as (paraphrasing here) "a Dragon Quest for adults". And I know I should have some faith it'll turn out alright, because I've never played a DQ I haven't enjoyed yet, but I hope it doesn't lose that tone balance. It's something you don't see done too well in games, at least not on that grand scale.

Ubisoft free from Vivendi takeover bid
Glen-i replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
It's a real shame that we likely won't see a sequel to Child of Light. Looking at Ubisoft now, it's astonishing that game came out of that company. -
3 Rosalinas (and Link), 4 Banjos, 4 Samus's, and 2 Isabelle's, all in a row.
-
Just a heads up, I'll be spectating for a bit at the start.

Stamina matches tonight at 8pm.

Out of all the entries I've played over the years, I don't think I've ever used Kerplunk/Kamikazee once. Never been in a situation where the last character alive was the one who had access to it. Unless it's Smash Bros. I use Kamikazee far too often in that game!

Putting them into humanity to work towards Kabuff is what I would do. Gives him some support functionality for bosses. Midheal is also handy in a pinch, but loses potency near the endgame. But it does help for conserving MP in dungeons.

See, I'm the kind of guy who tries to keep everyone in an RPG balanced. It's helpful in games like Chrono Trigger and Octopath Traveler, where everyone is useful, even if Tressa is by far the best in the latter. But Final Fantasy VI's balance is all over the place with the characters. Some, like Terra and Celes, are multitude times better then most of the other characters. And unfortunately, you get Cyan, who has mediocre stats, a dreadful skill, and an absolutely woeful endgame weapon selection. Tempest Sword is the best he can equip, but that's best used to make Gau an utter monster. So he just has nothing going for him. It's so bad, that freaking Gogo is more viable for the final dungeon three party run, thanks to him copying better skills from better characters. Shame too, Cyan has a great plot.
