  1. I read an article about how Steve basically went on a war path creating the iLife suite ripping off developper's ideas and destroying their livelihood. I'm not a big fan of him really.. but when he speaks I take time to listen. It's amazing that people worship him when in some respect, he's ripped off a lot of people like Bill Gates has.. The people behind SoundJam (now known as iTunes) got bought out and offered cushy jobs at Apple while the other people refused and founded the software company Panic. I imagine those SoundJam people are INCREDIBLY rich right now, the Panic crew weren't that bothered.. they were young and full of ideas, they didn't want to end up not having the flexibility that working out of their bedroom offered. I think this will be out in WH Smith in a few days, I've definitely seen it in there.. not sure how many days delay there is to ship it.
  2. Stefkov, for every £10 you spend you get 100 points I have 4000+ right now which = £10 1,000 points = £100 = £2.50 off in store £350 = 3,500 points = £7.50 at least. By the way, Argos are very reliable with regard to pre-orders if you want to get a spare/safety. That's where I got my PS2 after GAME had their cut off point a month before the PS2 was launched.
  3. When Reggie commented on the backwards compatibility and graphical updates he said he wanted it to play his classic games as they were intended. He didn't offer any confirmation on graphical updates though.. just that it would be his preference.
  4. Sorry McMad..? When is this on sale in WH Smiths? Literally is this a joke.. because this seems so unlike Nintendo to let the cat out of the bag about Zelda- we've all been thinking it and a few have hinted. But nobody has bluntly said "Zelda will use the controller" Gah I'm so happy.
  5. Yes indeed WarioWare pushed exists!
  6. Nope, to ensure that the gameplay is not affected by glitches the clock rate of the processor will be limited. As loading the game is a 'raw' process it would be logical to think that load times on the Wii may be better.. also because the disc drive will probably be faster and the amount of ram is more. However, I hear the GameCube had no load times anyway.. so the benefit of playing on the Wii seems to be slim and none. Of course if the GameCube game supports 60hz mode/component output which the Wii will support as standard.. then there may be a slight benefit on your television over the GameCube if you were using the standard AV out in basic mode. I'm not sure about that though.. I only just got my 'Cube.
  7. Guarana the list seems to be more along the lines of Super Smash Bros. Zelda Donkey Kong Mario 128 Metroid Prime New IP from Miyamoto The new racing game. I'm skeptical of the Kid Icarus stuff.. others are skeptical if some of the above will make the launch. Metroid in particular. Animal Crossing is in the works I hear too, WarioWare pushed has been hinted at and there's always the compulsory Mario Party.
  8. My dog is jealous.
  9. GAME for the reward card points and launch party at midnight. Amazon isn't typically that competitive with console prices.
  10. I will be disapointed if they don't put it in an oversized remote control car. Animal Rights schmanimal rights..
  11. Thanks for the heads up, Sunday TV has been rather poor lately. I'm never awake in the A.M for T4
  12. Awww <3 I'm sorry. I take that back genuinely.
  13. I had Dairy Milk bubbles over Easter, it was poor.. it didn't have the texture of Aero and it was generally quite rubbish. I'd rather have a solid bar of anything over that airy crap.
  14. Guess they'll be thinking of some new original thought provoking lyrics like "Why don't Presidents fight the war?" jk, I actually own most of their albums. With so many other new bands for me to listen to I'm not that worried.
  15. Game Gear was a portable, I think it would be wise to differentiate the portable systems from the home console back catalogue. In fact I don't welcome any portables onto the Wii. Just doesn't seem right.
  16. It has nothing authentic to do with skateboarding because anyone who has tried downhill skateboarding (myself included) knows that using a short board is impossible at high speeds because you get speed wobble. Sure if you take it as literally about skateboarding then yes, it is based on a skateboard. You have to use professional equipment. There is no skill or style in downhill skateboarding, it is entirely about speed. and watered down copies of SSX and Jet Set Radio isn't such a bad thing- both of those games on their own stand up as modern classics. Watered down means drawing influences but adding nothing original. SSX took snowboarding, then added speed boosts and crazy tricks, Jet Set Radio took skating and added grafiti. What does downhill jam offer? nothing pioneering. If they want to build a series on that they're gonna have to work hard. "Why are they pumping out a cheap game?" you didn't even read my post, it's just an unfounded attack which I won't honour with a response. What I did hear is create a discussion point as to what Activision is trying to do here.. I am not sure, which I why I proposed 2 options. Cheap game? or is it more of a risk they are taking investing in a new series on a new system with new engine etc..? Again this was a question to the readers of the thread, I want to know their thoughts on what Activision is doing. Can you see the question mark dazzybee? I'll bold it for you and underline it. It isn't a wild statement. Back on topic then hey?
  17. I think it would be good for it to be locked down by mods just for new threads. Providing the staff will be able to cope.
  18. Dazzybee, first of all that quote was taking the piss- statements like these should be based on hard evidence.. then the next line was "eg because I said so" you must be American, it's okay they don't get sarcasm. My post opened with "I don't think" which indicates opinion. The next bit was a rhetorical question, that also isn't me stating a fact. The next bit is fact, and the video even admitted that- Tony Hawks is a button intensive game and the Wii FHC doesn't have that. The last bit is opinion "I'd say" I feel the game has been influenced by the games Jet Set Radio and SSX from the concept art. So.. erm, yeah. Don't call me mate.
  19. Why oh why are N-Gage still trying to break into the gaming market. Give up you n00bs, you failed. it has to be said, Sony always have the best adverts (except those stupid PSP ones)
  20. I wounder why...Luigi wants to end it all? This picture is wounderful, and it can be interpreted in many ways. is Mario trying to convince Luigi, NOT to kill himself? Or, Is he encouraging him? And most of all, Can a NES light gun kill you if you are in the video game world? Mario 128 is coming in a few days in one way shape or form- years in the making. I just found this control scheme, looks pretty promising. First Real Details from the Mario 128 Wikipedia entry In September 2005, Shigeru Miyamoto gave his least-vague comments regarding Super Mario 128. Questioned as to the status of the game by a Japanese radio station, he revealed that Mario would have a new character by his side and reiterated that the game would appear on the Wii with a different name. Interestingly, he also mentioned that Super Mario 128 played a large role in the conception of the Wii as did Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64. He went as far to say that the Wii was based around "this new type of game": MIYAMOTO: Mario is and always has been a concept title from his birth. We are always looking for new ways of playing with him, manipulating him, to create something new and unique. We're in the midst of preparing something special for his future, something never before seen. You'll understand when you see it that we can't quite release it right away. The new Mario game will surprise many people. Give us the benefit of the doubt. I think we'll present you with a new way to have fun. There's even a new character by his side. Q: Mario 128 will be released for Revolution, then? MIYAMOTO: Yes, of course! It's no surprise, but, of course, we will rename it. That won't be the only surprise of next year, though. We based the Revolution around this new type of game. Mario 128 played a large role in the Revolution's conception, much like Mario 64 in its time. But we won't just be focusing on Mario. We're working on some very impressive games which push interactivity to the max—games of a new era.
  21. I think there needs to be an organised system.. a thread per game for sure.. because everyone is going to want to discuss each game specifically. I'll probably go elsewhere for my news, no offense but I like the variety of style and humour that the blogosphere brings.
  22. ndreamer, if Nintendo intend on including generic drivers for USB flash storage (perhaps with format) then I can't see why they wouldn't support a USB hard drive.. I don't see the point, Final Fantasy 11 will have extremely limited success on the 360.. and the same would apply to any non Pokemon online RPG for the Wii. Leave it to the PCs.
  23. Well I'm sorry I have to break this out but- Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9. Broken Sword, Gran Turismo 1 and 2, V-Rally, Toca, RayMan, WipeOut and WipeOut 2097, Cool Boarders (pre SSX it rocked), Destruction Derby, Tekken, Pong and so on. I had a PlayStation and enjoyed it very much so. I didn't have a N64 and I'll be looking forward to playing the exclusives on the Wii back catalogue.
  24. Skaters Tony Hawk Bob Burnquist Steve Caballero Kareem Campbell Rune Glifberg Eric Koston Bucky Lasek Rodney Mullen Chad Muska Andrew Reynolds Geoff Rowley Elissa Steamer Jamie Thomas [edit] Secret Skaters Officer Dick Private Carrera Spider-Man 80's Tony Hawk [edit] Levels Hangar, Mullet Falls, Montana School, Southern California Marseille, France* New York, New York Venice Beach, California Skatestreet (Ventura, California)* Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Bullring, Mexico Hidden Levels Skate Heaven Hoffman Bike Headquarters (N64 only) Tony Hawk's Pro Skater levels (Xbox only) Hawaii Chopper Drop Downhill Jam: Phoenix, AZ (From Tony Hawk's Pro Skater) Skate Park, Chicago (From Tony Hawk's Pro Skater) Warehouse: Woodland Hills, CA (From Tony Hawk's Pro Skater) Soundtrack Papa Roach-"Blood Brothers" Anthrax f/ Public Enemy-"Bring the Noise" Rage Against the Machine-"Guerilla Radio" Naughty by Nature-"Pin the Tail on the Donkey" Bad Religion-"You" Powerman 5000 - "When Worlds Collide" Millencolin - "No Cigar" The High and Mighty f/ Mos Def - "B-Boy Document '99" Dub Pistols - "Cyclone" Lagwagon - "May 16th" Styles of Beyond - "Subculture" Consumed- "Heavy Metal Winner" Fu Manchu - "Evil Eye" Alley Life f/ Black Planet - "Out With the Old" Swingin' Utters - "Five Lessons Learned" All reasons why this game rocked and Downhill Jam will not.. For a start the spokesperson in the IGN video expressed little to no expertise with regard to skateboarding. I think the game is a product of a series of suits sitting in an office thinking about how they can make the most money from this console with the smallest investment risk possible. I could be wrong but I don't think this series will be to skateboarding what SSX did for the snowboard genre.
