Mario Galaxy looked awesome, a definite purchase.. I thought the emphasis was a little low.. perhaps to get rid of the kiddy image.
-
Hahah lame, I'm not buying that. It's a game just for the excuse of smashing stuff. The title is 'project hammer' I believe.

The colour of my feed has changed, I'm assuming they've switched to get ready for the stream.

12:21 am - So the crew is split into two levels of the theater -- we've got our writers up top and the photogs down below, right friggin' next to the stage. The folks in the nosebleed section seem ok with their lot. Many are sitting silently, pensively almost. Or it could just be that the coffee hasn't kicked in. On the speakers, hip clubby trance music. If Sony's pre-conference music was high school dance, this is college rave. 9tendo i'll do it dude.

12:17 am - We're sitting in the Kodak theater waiting for the press corps, VIPs, and assorted industry folk to file in, ever so slowly. Pictochat sessions are starting to fill up as people take their seats and whip out their portables. The announcer just told us to turn off all wireless and bluetooth devices before the presentation begins -- could that be so that our bluetooth doesn't interfere with the Wii's wireless capabilities? Sounds like a hint to us. I will paste the Joystiq feeds into here for anyone who can't be arsed. Please go easy on the images folks, unless it is like of something rad.

I'm loving the techno on the GameSpot Nintendo feed.

What does Sony now lack? - A 5 year head start with regard to ideas and philosophy. - Advanced motion sensors.. most of the Wii's cost has gone into the controller.. it's not suprising graphics had to be compromised. - Developper support - Hardware designed from scratch to handle such activities - Miyamoto - One handed controller (though I wouldn't put this past them) Sony has an edge, it's coming standard with the system.. which means it will probably not end up the same fate as that gimmicky eye toy.. people will be more inclined to buy something with motion sensor if it comes as standard. I would rather see Microsoft obliterated by not having this standard than see such an awesome idea not adopted as the standard for videogames. It's for the better of the industry.. but at the end of the day: The idea of the FHC is to simplify games, break barriers. What has Sony done? Complicated what Nintendo saw as an already overly complicated system. Apart from a few bad copies of Nintendogs and Pilot Wings I really don't consider Sony to be a threat to Nintendo's new potential market. And it's still £359? Who can afford that for something they might use an hour or two a week. Casual my ass. Nintendo has no reason to be worried, it just means the ball is in their court for the next 28 minutes.. and they will be smiling, and very confident. Nintendo will no doubt have a joke or two for the crowd- mark my words, they'll laugh. Radio 1 Newsbeat- "we've just had a sneak peak at the PS3 which has been unveiled in L.A but from the texts we've been recieving you don't sound that excited" Price, price price.

Final Fantasy has died for me really, I used to be one of those gamers who only played Final Fantasy RPGs, but I'm venturing out of the box now.. the experience is getting very samey. I enjoyed what they tried to do with X instead of setting it in a typically Western Europe civilisation, they went for a more asian inspiration. I can't warrant a PS3 just for those games- especially at that price so it's neither a suprise nor a big deal for me. Crystal Chronicles I skipped the first time, I'll consider it.. especially if there is decent DS to Wii link up.. I don't want a dungeon trawl though, I want a proper role player. I consider myself a bit of a casual gamer now and I think Crystal Chronicles with Nintendo WiFi could be a really great game for me. Crystal Chronicles for Cube was exceptional, oozing of style and original Final Fantasy ideas.. any improvement on that is good in my books.

Spore is developped by Maxxis, it's different studio from Lionhead. Spore (Will Wright)- Maxxis - EA Black and White (Peter Molyneaux) - Lionhead - Microsoft Studios. I got them mixed around the first time
-
Will Wright expressed praise for the DS and Wii controller, I think EA prodded him to make it multiplatform by bringing out a DS, (GBA too) and PSP version. The Wii probably can't handle what they want to do with regard to the entire galaxies all in real time. I'd love to see it just as much as the next guy but I don't think Will will want to compromise on the experience because the hardware.

Zelda doesn't look that crisp.. but it looks arty. It looks like it might have significant style. Looks a little rough around the edges I have to say.. I'm quite excited about the tennis game.. I've never played on before and it looks kinda rad. Red Steel of course looks amazing and seems to be pushing the system much more.. Rayman? Meh.. no big deal for me.

Hahaha I love how everyone was defending this shit when I wasted into it before the screens came. Now everyone is like "yeah that's pretty shit" There are moments in Tony Hawks 2 (PSone) which genuinely looked better than this, I shit you not.. they were few and far between but it looked better. With regard to Toys for Bob I think this could be a great step back in the door for them and developping games.. with this in their portfolio and experience with the Wii controller they could probably get on board with some more indie teams and I hope they don't waste the next 5 years developping another Tony Hawks downhill Jam game. -

AAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHA Literally what a piece of crap. (PS1 graphics) Definitely not buying it now, they're a joke. Such the copy of SSX bar, it has the exact same navigation bar, and even a boost bar in the same style as SSX. It's basically SSX on skateboards. -
IGN Matt was talking about it in his blog a few weeks back, he thinks the title is developped by Pandemic who has an excellent relationship with Lucas Arts and track history with that Star Wars Battle game in space. I wasn't a huge fan of Full Spectrum Warrior mostly because the combat was cripple for this pseudo FPS tactical game. Seems likely to me, and now we know the controller can be tamed to handle Zelda's sword there's no reason to suggest we can't have a light sabre either. I'd buy it just for the light sabre controls- really it is a dream for some many dorks.

I'm going to buy Prime and perhaps Echoes as well today. Might get echoes on the Nintendo magazine deal for £9.99 instead.

Blogs are for regurgitation, comment and criticism of news, I don't trust them for 'unveiling' news. Such as this.. it could be debated that this is regurgitation, because this person heard it over the weekend. I don't see the credibility though.

It might not be there.. their website says "Current issue" but if it isn't printed in the UK it might take a few days to get here. I'll ask in Smith's if they don't have it as to when.
-
Bummer, well can be locked then. Pity something as stupid as a publisher can decide what consoles get what games. Cheers.
-
Going to try and pick up a copy now- I'm hoping that TIME date magazines 7 days in advance ^_^ scans coming as soon as I can get a copy.
-
I could have probably searched to find this out.. but whatever. So where does Nintendo stand with Acclaim and Turok? and is there any chance at all that this will come to Wii?
-
Oh yeah, thought it'd be good to add this: 40 million people buy TIME magazine every week. If half of them buy a Wii then Nintendo are on to something. The 360 and PS3 won't appeal to your average TIME reader because the product isn't marketed at them.. the Wii is. If more big papers start giving the Wii praise like this the console can't fail.

Doesn't the BBC 2 website now stream TV shows in broadband quality? That's what I was told last week.. it's to counter the innevitable piracy that the BBC is going to get.
-
Actually, wasn't GAME asking for a £20 pre-order token to show that you are 'serious' about making the purchase? And wasn't that non refundable? I am not doing that if the console won't be out for 6 months.. think about it, they'll be earning interest like a biatch if we all do that. I'll be ordering from Amazon if they try pull a £20 pre-order fee again.
