I'm gonna have to guess this has sold more than the GameCube did on launch day? Is this once again the fastest selling console ever? (A title that gets dished out far too often)

If I can beg borrow and steal enough to get one. It may mean selling my GameCube collection to get one. Which I really don't wanna do.

I dunno, part of me thinks December 8th would be a cut off point over the Christmas period, but if they want to actually sell the units before the end of 2006 (to hit their 4 million target) then they'll have to I think.

A stand alone game? He makes several references to it being too much like Ocarina of Time. His review is not what I have the problem with, it's the score mostly. It really is inconsistent now i've seen all his history dug up and thrown around. Problems with the control's sound, the lack of a modern orchestrated soundtrack and responsiveness of the controls would perhaps warrant 0.8 being knocked off the score from me. I think the shadow world, the scale and the controls is evolution enough.

Nah the US has sold 400,000 (according to that estimated ticket clock thing) they have 1,000,000 for launch day Reggie said. My theory is a lot of people who have jobs and school haven't picked them up yet. Some stores are holding units for 48 hours before they become fair game. Europe is only getting 400,000 for launch day, and a restock on New Year depending on demand (Again I assume it will be a few hundred thousand)

System power has nothing to do with the PSP failing. It hasn't got any software people want to play on the go. Motorstorm and Resistance look to be above average launch games to me, compared to the PS2 launch it's exceptional actually. The parallels you draw between portable and home consoles is flawed, as they are completely different markets. Not just that but the evidence you give for the PS3 failing is opinionated fanboy drivel. The only sensible thing you said was that Nintendo and Sony have Japan covered. (I don't think Blue Dragon can save Microsoft) The West is open for business for all three as far as I'm concerned.

Shipments take time, the next shipment is planned for New Year's day. 300,000 = XBOX 360, that was a mess 400,000 = Wii.. when you consider Nintendo is spending so much on marketing it's hard not to think that they will sell out. US is clocking up closer and closer to 400,000 units sold on day one. I'm taking a big risk, but I'm confident I am resourceful and persistant enough to get one on launch day without a pre-order. That doesn't mean just anyone will be able to walk in and pick one up.

It's as silly as it sounds. An old PlayStation game I enjoyed is coming to the Wii courtesy of Artdink. Graphically it looks pretty poor, this is the only screenshot released so far.. it could be a budget title. It might well be the next Katamari though. I remember it being a bit of a laugh on the demo disc. When Iwata speaks of the indie games that are low budget.. I see this as the first wave. Artdink has never had much success.

Amazon is meant to be starting soon I think. Failing that you can drive around on December 7th/8th to all supermarkets and general retailers who stock electronics begging for one without a pre-order. That's my plan.

That was a combination of Nintendo's arrogance as console leader and Sony's marketing genius. It takes two for a flip to happen like that.. Sony still knows how to market a product.. and yes the poster boy Ken Kuturagi is quite arrogant, at heart I think Sony is pre-meditating a war. Nintendo has positioned itself to take the power back but really with the death of Sega neither is going to make a mistake like the N64 again.

I doubt it, the Wii can handle 3D graphics better.. so in theory 2D graphics and flash should be a doddle for it. Providing the broadband wireless connection is provided. Who sed that then? Was it that brunette who is good at getting things wrong? This early I think they are trying to die down the possibility of anyone wanting to wait for a DVD playing Wii. That's why nobody has spoken much of it.

Worldwide launches don't work. But they are more fun. That's all I have to say about the Wii and PS3 launch. No hype at all.

Nintendo's total income is up 72% (on last year) at the end of the second quarter of 2006 to £172m. Microsoft as we all know is at a loss on systems and the Live service but Microsoft has the resources to make the system a success. Sony's profits are down 92% to £7m this quarter due to battery recalls and the PS3 delays cost Sony £193m. Microsoft sold 9 million XBOX units in the 9 month period after launch 3 years ago, conversely Microsoft has only sold 6 million 360 units in that time frame. Their aim is to sell a further 4 million over the Christmas period but if they don't meet that target it's going to look like Microsoft has not improved on the past generation. Stock holders won't be happy, EDGE says that common sense suggests people are waiting for the PS3 solely for comparisons on the drives. With PS3 shortages a lot of people will jump ship to the Wii and 360. Wii is the only system making a profit. All concluding that the 360 has not done well enough really.. to be fair the original XBOX had Halo, so perhaps Gears can do something for it.
