Of course.. I think a Jewish squirrel would have been more suitable for this nut job.

GameSpot's Wikipedia page has been under attack for the last hour. It's been locked.

Did you know TESCO is the initials of T.E.S.Cohen a jew. [/furthers a jewish stereotype] Why the hell was he married a dolphin? I thought Jews only married Jews.

*points to signature* We're shooting ourselves in the foot if we don't buy Ubisoft games.. because they are great supporters. The GameCube went downhill because lack of 3rd party support. If you want it, get it.

We are more evolved gamers anyway, we know word of mouth is much more important than reviews when you look at Katamari Damacy. The reviewers followed the word of mouth to giving it high scores. It was a very cult thing and mainstream press described it as an "internet sensation" We all know word of mouth is a million times more important to us than a review. It's the monkeys that take reviews as gospel who will be affected. Why do we care? Monkeys buy games like Fifa and Madden. This game will sell more than anything else this Christmas. Zelda is a success before it's made. One bad review score is not going to affect Nintendo's financial or historical situation. So fanboys should really understand that Nintendo are WAY bigger than GameSpot could ever be.

I'm just being conditional.. I don't ever read GameSpot ever. I think their site sucks balls in fact. But you can't judge apples and oranges until you've seen a whole range really. Review scores need to be lowered.. average games do not get average scores anymore. GameSpot are making a bold move.. and perhaps it's the first step in reinventing the gaming score system. 10/10 should be something developpers aspire to get not taken for granted. 7/10 should not be awarded to a movie license that was rushed and has bugs. In the big picture 8.8/10 is a really good score, 88% is an A in pretty much any a-level exam subject. An A is an A on paper. If they are not consistent (and I'm not holding my breath) then I will be the first to discredit them. But two days ago I was saying how all the launch titles are getting grossly overweight scores. This console has 5 years life left in it, Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 are still coming. I don't want to see a system with more 9 ratings than 8 ratings. It devalues it all. I've always been a scientist.. reviews should be like that. But these days it's more scewered to the right. I got an anrgy e.mail the other day from someone who was mad because I left him neutral feedback on eBay. He was acting as if I had boned his wife. Go figure!

If this thread wasn't here someone would steam in and post it anyway. It kinda needs it's own thread seeing as the general thread will get pwned up. At E3 did we have one E3 thread? No there was one for every game. I don't agree with the thread but something this controversial needed to be diverted. Now other forumites don't have to smell fanboy because they're all locked up in one thread.

Living in the past Zell. I said future scoring, it's a new console and there are new standards. I will discredit him completely if he is not consistent with the likes of Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Galaxy. On another note, where is the Famitsu review? that should be a big one for most people. With a lack of orchestrated soundtrack it could lose a few points from the sound guy.
-
I think Matt pointed out something quite important, the lack of orchestrated music. That's a big deal for me because music is the lubrication on a long game like this. That along is worth deducting 0.4 from the game's perfect score. Perhaps even more depending on how music is rated. Excuse my crude analogy but now Nobuo Uematsu has left Square-Enix I don't think I can play another Final Fantasy.. I just don't think they will be able to replace him. I hope he does freelance work or something on XIII.

Super Mario 64, Nintendo 64 (E35) Gran Turismo, Sony PlayStation (E55) The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Nintendo 64 (E66) Halo: Combat Evolved, Microsoft Xbox (E105) Half-Life 2, Windows PC (E143) 5 games that are considered worthy of a 10/10 score in the eyes of EDGE. Please perspective, who cares what it got? On averages it's still in the top 10, among the best games ever. Where's Metal Gear Solid in the top 10? Oh that's right.. it isn't. Where's the fanboy's dream Final Fantasy VII? I can't quite see it. My point is quit yo' jibba jabba. We've lived in a golden age, and I don't think it's going to get any better. We should be gracious we've enjoyed these great games the first time around. Because the only way people can enjoy them now is by actively seeking them, because you can't find OoT in the shops these days.. or Tekken 3. Kids these days will be missing out on the oldies while they're playing the latest Fifa.. and that's a shame. But we're part of the club. We will never be satisfied after the gems we've had over the last 15 years.

Talking of ridiculous reviews, why the hell does this fanboy thread deserve a 5 star rating? Same goes for all the other average threads in this forum! GOT YOU!

History suggests, there will be another Zelda for Wii. Now with ISS on the 360, they cut down features.. some sources inside Konami say it was to get it out for Chrismas. I think it was to start fresh on a new system and make improvements on each sequel.. thus justifying the purchase again. The PS2 is the final ISS incarnation, and it's godly. Zelda 2: Wii will no doubt have the orchestrated soundtrack, and cover up some of the problems. Perhaps it is just making a little room for improvement. Also I support his score. As long as he's consistent with future scoring.
-
Sony fans will probably be playing their system more than making costumes. Also a SixAxis outfit would be tough. Wii launches will probably be more fun, a better atmosphere with DS lans.
-
Twilight Princess is better on the Wii for you. You don't sound like an opinionated Zelda purist (people living in the past) Stick with your brother's Zelda.. you get 3-4 save files on one unit so you can play whenever he isn't. It will teach you about sharing also. Just use his, it'd be silly to buy your own disc because the system will probably just reckognise his save files.
-
LOL that was good, such anti consumerism rebels. We are all victims.
-
I've never liked War games.. but if that's your first war game.. that's going to be absolutely godly. I might just pick it up on a HD console (should one come my way) The Wii version just doesn't appeal.
-
Not really.. there's Mario on the way of course, you can take advantage of the virtual console and download some classic titles for between £3 and £8. I'll be getting Mario 64 at launch which should cost about £8 or so. Bargain if you ask me. Depends if you've played it before.. you'll also need a GameCube or Wii classic controller to enjoy it as intended.

Raving Rabbids is a fun game, it can turn a 36 year old back into a 6 year old. It's probably a little easy.. thus making it short, but it's going to be one of the better mini games titles on the Wii. It has a lot of style and a loose plot linking them together, more so than what you'll see from Monkey Ball's mini games, Mario Party and WarioWare's. It's a tough one.. because the Wii will have a lot of mini games that overlap.. but I think Raving Rabbids will be the best. I think we're shooting ourselves in the foot a bit with these review scores.. Ubisoft has shown so much love to us and the Wii system. If we don't go out and buy Ubisoft games their investment will be considered a failure and we will get no more original Ubisoft titles.
-
If you want GT Pro get it. It will probably be the best authentic racer on the system.. sure it's nothing in comparison to the XBOX 360's Project Gotham + Forza, or Sony's Gran Turismo and Wipeout. But give it a shot.. don't let reviews throw you off. If you like racers and want one for over winter go for it. Personally I'd go for Monkey Ball because there's loads of mini games to keep your friends busy when it's too cold to go out. Red Steel is a new experience, seriously don't be dominated by reviews, just use them as a guide. I've wanted monkey ball since I heard about the control scheme.. no review is going to tell me not to get it now.
-
Dunno if this has been planned for ages and now is common knowledge. It's a first to me. XBOX 360 classics: 24.99 (retail, perhaps less online) Kameo, Perfect Dark, King Kong and Condemned are the first wave. Good Christmas presents.. from what I gather Kameo was short and King Kong didn't flow that well. But they were worth their full price.

I think the Sims probably did okay when it was ported, and Broken Sword didn't do too bad on the PSone. MYST probably did good in some ports too. But on scale I think you're right. It's hard to think of this game as a port. In the original Zelda meeting and they were deciding between Revolution and GameCube it must have been down to a vote between which system it went to.
-
I think it was a harsh score. I also think unless we go into the territory of offering games a star on top of their score we are compromising the value of the review system. It's a shame that with the new generation Zelda is the first to bite the bullet.. but in the end it's going to be worth it. a 7, 8, 9 and 10 rated game should all be worth my consideration. But because today a 7 is seen as average, an 8 as good and a 9 as radical it's tough to differentiate. I'm glad EDGE gave Red Steel a 5, and Wii Sports a 7, Zelda earned it's 9 on this scale. GameSpot has made a good move to be more demanding and I can only hope it follows suit with all reviews in this generation. We all know Zelda Twilight Princess is a top 10 game ever made. What does it matter what a bunch of wotsits eating Dr. Pepper swigging fatties think? Try and compare it to the a-level debate.. they're considering bringing in an A* for a-levels.. what does this do to all the hardworking kids who got A's in previous years? A funking huge disservice!

Lumines 2 got a 6, pretty much similar territory. "Each dose cheapening the series overall" If I had a PSP i'd have the original Lumines, Loco Roco + WipeOut pure. But there's just not enough there to warrant me jumping ship. If anyone else wants to know a particular game feel free to ask. I'm just a bit rusty after last night.
