Umm.. Is it just me, but isn't buying a mac and using windows on it pointless? It's like you're getting a hugely overpriced windows pc. I mean what's the point in a mac if it hasn't got os x? I know that the build quality is better, but it also has almost no way of upgrading it. Other than buying the next version. Note: this is not a post that says macs suck or something like that, I'm still considering to get a mac laptop.

omg my birthday is in the 11th month, I know how to shoot an assault rifle, know how to blow up tnt. Have made napalm. That must mean I'm one of them... Yeah right. Taken out of context that seems pretty bad.

Computer Crashing On Windows XP startup Bar

Have you tried to boot into safe mode? If you can do that, you could uninstall/re-install the graphics card's drivers. -
Now I'm even more pissed that I lost my f-secure license key...

I thought socket a mobos are pretty hard to find nowadays. I had to upgrade to 64bit after a *cough* bios updating *cough* accident...

Well there seems to be that some hard drives fail more often than others. I don't know about those as I have a samsung and two seagates and they haven't failed... But maybe someone other can recommend a brand. Or you could look for reviews on sites that specialises on PC hardware. Yes, but with the jumper being in "cable select" the drive should find out automatically if it's a slave or a master.

I can only recommend the zalman CNPS6000-Cu My athlon xp 2600+ temps dropped by 20C using this fan/heatsink. And you can attach another fan to the handle to cool the graphics card and other PCI cards. off topic: I think that this site(revo-europe) is down way more than before...

I'm using mozilla at the moment. Can't be arsed to switch over to another browser... But I so rarely visit the site so it's not that big of a problem.

I usually get a pop under while visiting the main site... Damn kerio run out of trial days so the ads aren't blocked anymore...

This is actually something that is studied, but so far there has been no solid proof that using low powered radio transmitters cause cell damage. But if you get some damage from a wavebird I do hope that you haven't got a WLAN in your house. Are you saying that your lap feels warm after you play a while with a wavebird? You know it just might be that you're sweating due to intense playing.

Now be honest, you just wanted to show off your kickass score in 3dmark05 :p I'm lucky if I get that kind of scores in 3dmark03...

Well actually there was a study about a year or two ago which concluded that using a laptop on your lap reduces fertility. I think that I said this in another thread...

I remember that I got to a level that was situated in some amusement park. Although it took me ages to get there. Or was it the other simpsons game...

Does the clicks come from the power supply? Or is it just your monitor that clicks on and then to sleep mode? And post some more specifics about your system, name&model of the motherboard, amount of ram, the wattage of the psu, cpu, graphics card and any pci card that you have.

The raid0 is good for at least one thing, storing captured video footage. As a 60min dv tape takes lots of space (1min~220Mb) if you have lots of footage it's easier if you have a single tape in a single file. And if one drive fails it doesn't matter as you still have the masters as a dv tape.

Yes but I remember reading about the athlon xp to be rated for max 80'C. I could be wrong though...

Well I don't care much about image quality while playing. Usually the tempo of the game is too fast to notice any slight differences. It's not a one off experience. I worked in a pc shop repairing pc's and if there was some sort of problem with graphics card it 90% of all cases it was ati. And When I got my radeon 9700 pro I gave my old 9700 to my sister. But surprise surprise the card didn't work in her pc. But it worked fine in mine. And after that I got her a 9600XT which crashes after a while of gaming if the agp speed is 8x. I have nothing against ati as a company, but I'm just tired of tweaking. Hoping that an nVidia will be better. Although if they do launch a card that is reasonably cheap compared to similar model by nvidia I might still consider ati. So I'll see next fall which I'll buy for my new PC.

But who the heck would want to buy a pc with 4 high end gpu's? And as have been said getting the other 1-3 cards later when their prices have dropped is a bad idea. You can't be sure if they're still compatible with the old ones. And the stability issue comes from the r350 core (radeon 9700...) as I haven't gotten into the latest hardware on both. I still have some problems with my rad 9700 pro, but the latest drivers have fixed quite a bunch of bugs. but since the card is 3-4 years old it's quite late in it's lifespan to get working almost correctly. And the nvidia which I'm comparing it to is even older (Geforce 2 GTS) But they have one thing in common. They both were high-end cards when they were released. But the nvidia hasn't crashed/behaved strangely ever. Not even with the drivers that came with the card on a cd. If I would have wanted to go for image quality I would have gone for matrox. Well for this reason my next graphics card will be nvidia. I'm too tired to installing drivers searching the net for tweaks to get the games I want play playable.

If it's easy to open up (usually aren't...) I'd say 30 min. But do take some 2 or so hours just in case.

Some things that usually get overlooked when building a wireless network: 1. If you live in a block of flats, or you have lots of other people living around you, you should ask them if they are using wireless networking. Then make an agreement on what channels you'll use. And you won't get interference from one another. 2. Antenna polarization. It matters what direction your antenna is pointing. If the access points(usually the router) antenna is horizontal, but the clients (e.g wifi PCI- card) antenna is vertical. You will have a very bad/broken connection. Even from short distances.

For an old amd athlon XP with a crappy fan, that cpu temp would be tolerable. But for a laptop P4? You're right there's something wrong with the fan. Maybe the air pressure got some of the cables off the connectors? Can you open the laptop and see?

It's a cover song, so there is more than one correct answer. Though I don't think Dream Theater has that song... Actually you're wrong :P It's a cover of that song.

Thanks, But maybe the first 3d model is a bit misleading, as it's the first blender model I made. But also a first render that I took more than 15 mins to do... I have fiddled with povray, and moray in the past. Now it seems I haven't got much time on my hands to do 3d modelling. Work and studying to entrance exams taking up most of my time. And of course playing also. But it should ease up towards the summer. And I will post some updates to the knife or other things then.
