I think all you need to do is look at the PC ports of PS3/360 games. They usually improve lighting effects, increase the draw distance, sometimes use larger textures, add some post-processing and of course add lots of anti-aliasing. In most cases changing the number of enemies impacts gameplay but some like to increase the crowd or for instance in GTA the number of cars.

This looks brilliantly absurd. It's also nice that they cast german actors to play germans - just adds to the atmosphere, especially since they can pronounce their character's names correctly (and all the other german dialogue).

The Arnie version was awesome and also had James Earl Jones to add to that awesomeness. This looks extremely generic and the trailer seems to me that they are not quite sure if they wanted to create something similar to the Arnie version or Lord of the Ring. Also it seems Jason Momoa will have a lot of CGI to fight - I don't like really like Jason Momoa or CGI fights.

I always thought that if they release it this year it must be somewhat rushed. There was quite some time between ME and ME2, although I guess they did start working on the third when the second wasn't even finished. Still I'd rather wait a little longer if this means there's a chance to get a better game.

The trailer seems to me like they try to add a story to the game mechanics of NFS Hot Pursuit (the new one).

In the Cinema they use two projectors each emitting light with a different polarisation (horizontal and vertical). The glasses then filter out the light of opposite polarisation, so each eye sees a different image. On a TV the tech has to be different due to the technology. There they use shutter glasses. These alternate between the right-eye glass and then the left one going black. This is in sync to the TV, so if the right eye is "shut" the TV displayes the picture for the left eye, then the left eye is "shut" and the TV displayes the picture for the right eye. This process happens 60 times per second.

I'm not quite sure working together is the right word here. I think at most they are signalling to the other company that they won't launch a new console soon. Looking at the recently launched Kinect and Move it's pretty obvious they are not going to sacrifice these sales-points for a new system anytime soon, afterall at least their research expenses need to be covered. I'm really waiting for the next generation though. In the last few years I've seen more than enough of the slightly metallic glow so typical for the UE3 engine. PC graphicscards are at least two generations ahead, with more advanced shader models and tesselation. But most PC games are only ports and rarely use these features.

I think OOT was quite low on contrast overall. It didn't really feature that many brightly coloured areas as far as I can remember and therefore generated a slightly hostile and down-to-earth tone. This made the threat of Ganon more present I find.

Ok guys, I'm sorry for the following rant but I really need to put my disappointment into sentences because I absolutely loved Crysis 1 from the very first part of the cinematic to the last shot fired. I played about two hours so far and am quite a bit disappointed. It feels as if they hired a different team to do it. Don't get me wrong it's still a good game but feels quite different to Crysis 1, and I played through Crysis 1 about two weeks ago so I hardly have rose-tinted glasses on. First of all I'm very impressed with the graphics. I thought with it being a console port and all, this might suffer but it seems to me especially lighting and shaders improved a lot compared to the first. Also the streamlined functionality of the Nanosuit is nice. But why does the armour-mode constantly draw power now and why can't I be in armour mode permanently? I'm playing on Supersoldier with Crosshair off and it's quite annoying that I die while my energy is full, especially because I often die before I can react and the armour would give me that extra time. Also I'm not impressed with the level design so far. The open areas are not open enough for me to sneak around. Maybe this is because I'm used to clearing out every room from other shooters. Now in the first I had these huge areas where I could scout extensively before deciding on an tactic on how to invade the enemies base, apply hit and run tactics and sneak around. In Crysis 2 I'm all of a sudden within the battlefield and I can hardly scout around to decide on an approach. Also it seems to me that sometimes the enemies spawn in the area some time throughout the battle whereas in Crysis 1 I could rely on the number of enemies I counted before. Furthermore I miss that I can't lie down anymore and there is no "hold to crouch" option either. Also a quicksave function or just any save function besides autosave would be nice, since any plan which doesn't work out quite as expected results in me dying. A bit more effort in making the environments destructible would also have been nice, particularly destructible windows isn't exactly something new, but for instance once I was looking for a way out. I tried to smash the window which didn't work only to realize that next to it is a destroyed one which is meant as an exit. Lastly I miss the female suit voice from the previous game, sounded much nicer than the overly manly voice in this one. Admittedly these are not exactly huge complaints and as I said before it's a very good game but it lacks the open, destructible environments of the previous one. Now I have a nav-marker every 200 meters or so whereas in the first, the nav marker was my actual objective and a few kilometers away. How I got there was my business. I hope this gets better later on because so far apart from the Nanosuit I don't see that many similarities to Crysis 1.

The question always is if it fits into the existing game world. Mario has the unique difference of being the platform mascot and so everyone expects to see him in every game. Let's take the Zelda example though. If you suddenly had a serious Zelda horse-racing game it would feel completely out of context if they included characters known from the other Zelda games and if they didn't everyone would wonder what the connection to Zelda is. Also the game characters (again except Mario) developed more of a character and backstory over the years which makes it harder for followers of the series to accept to see them in something completely different. But doing something different within the established gameworld should be fine I guess. For instance a Harvest Moon type of game would fit the Zelda franchise because there were always other people around who had to just mind their own business.

Maybe they'll give it away for free before the release of ME3 :P
