How many of the spoilt kids who get £500 for Christmas are going to go without on Christmas day and wait and extra 3 months for it, or are they going to spunk their chrimbo cash on something else? Or are their parents going to just buy it for them anyway?

I'll joke about literally anything and everything to be honest, all humour comes from breaking rules. I laughed at some of the Irwin pics and I'm still gutted about his death.

The Daily Star's videogame section had Animal Crossing: Wild World for the PS2 at number 8 in the all format charts last week.

Sommat about it here http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news_detail.html?sku=384

I'm sure if many people had got to know one of those 14 squaddies through the media and decided they were an all round great bloke who brought a smile to their face, there'd be a similar reaction to their death. As it is, I'm not ashamed to say that I'm far more gutted about Steve Irwin dying than all 14 of them dying in a war zone - that's human nature. If you're going to take it further, the 14 soldiers have been reported in national newspapers, been a main story on TV all day, had flowers lain by people who didn't know them - how many died in road accidents that day? how many faceless statistics of starvation, war, disease, who didn't get that attention because they didn't die in a planecrash? It's not human nature to distribute an even amount of attention and public or personal greif to every single death in the world. I will say I'm definitely more gutted about Steve than I was about, say Diana dying and remember the sickening grief circus that went on for months after that? Makes posting a thread saying you'll miss a TV presenter pale into insignificance.

Hmm, seems like it might in part be genetic! http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/content/abstract/66/2/391

Could that be the reason why some people, like my girlfriend, like grapefruit, whereas as far as I'm concerned it's not even edible to humans and there's been a mistake somewhere along the line? I'm not picky at all, but to me it just tastes like it should be poisonous. It's the only thing of the top of my head I simply cannot stomach.

Game you have always wanted to play..

Yeah, - zsnes for instance has a pretty good "netplay" feature. -
It's a part of the English language and swear words can be some of the most expressive and versatile words that we have, as long as they are not used so much that they lose their effectiveness - and as long as there is a minority of the population offended by them, even within context. A minority who don't realise that it's themselves who give these words their power.

Nevermind, found it. Hope I can order in bulk

Where can I buy said item?

He's easier to assasinate though, you just sneak up behind him and pop a balloon.

Fair enough. I prefer to play SNES games on a PC monitor to be honest, rather than a blurry TV, and with the added advantages of save states and online play. Lucky I can be bothered with the effort of plugging a controller into my PC I guess. -

People who refuse to play on emulators, does this include the Virtual Console for the Wii? -
I don't - it's possible, but not for the reasons people have been coming up with.
-
The reasons being given for these images being fake are some of the most ridiculous I've ever heard.

Yep, the fact it's for playing games with doesn't matter, something being a toy or not depends on how much plastic it contains. Games consoles are toys. And, for that matter, gaming PCs are toys. I really don't see why the industry and gamers should be in denial of this fact (Although some companies are more than others). It doesn't matter if it looks like Fisher Price made it or if SkyNet made it, the purpose of the NES and the PS3 is essentially the same. They're a great toy, they can be very expensive toys, but they're still toys. And you know what? Playing with toys is nothing to be ashamed of.
-
I could afford it as well, I could snap up ten of em at launch if I was so inclined - but I simply couldn't justify spending that much on a toy, especially one without any games which make me think "I want one!"
-
Yep, Britney Spears gives the fans what they want and if you don't like her, you don't buy her music - does that mean if someone tells you it's worth splashing out on some shiny new bit of kit just to play her latest album, you can't disagree with them?
-
Yup, and skip the parts they concentrated half their budget and development time on. Hopefully then you'll be able to get a 50% rebate on the game and the 500 quid toy you bought to play it on.
-
Yep, the only two options are hours and hours and hours worth of pointless cutscenes, or no cut scenes in games at all, ever.
-
Fascinating cut-scenes to the wannabe sixth-form poet who think's they're deep and meaningful rather than pretentious filler
-
Imagining how many hours of pointless cut scenes they'll be able to fit on a blueray disc, it doesn't really bear thinking about...

Hooray, it's a bluray player! How many people are really that desperate to early adopt bluray and buy a clunky, overpriced first gen player? If you weren't going to get a PS3 would you even be considering getting a blueray player at that stage? Remember people buying the PS2 and justifying spending their student loan on it at launch because it was a DVD player, only to discover that by the time they had a half-decent DVD collection they realised that it was shoddy and far inferior to the cheapo models that Tesco started stacking up for next to nowt once DVD had established itself as a format? Worst justification for shelling out on a bit of kit ever, especially with Sony's previous record of introducing new media formats in Betamax, MiniDisc and UMD.
