  1. That's hard to say, with intel's 80-core being thrown in the market somewhere in four years (if everything runs according to plan) and with the accelaration of development and batteries, I don't see it lasting. If it weren't for the Windows only restriction, I'de say get a mac. They're pretty future-proof and work good stuff. And at least people don't want to downgride to XP. Sorry, not trying to start the discussion again . However, what I mean to say is that you can't be sure your PC will last four years, the only company giving you guarantee for top of the line is Apple, with a two-year spread of products.
  2. Wacom is one of the best yes. Over here we don't even call it a tablet, we call it a Wacom. Yes. Like when my parents point at my Wii and say 'the Nintendo'. Or when they're talking about the PlayStation somewhere else and keep it calling 'their Nintendo'. Odd, that is.
  3. Honestly, I don't see what could go wrong here. Almost any recent computer meets the qualifications if you ask me. Sad that they don't make this for mac - they all know that macs are the platform creatives prefer. But hey, what the hell. Here's another joke about these threads: at least Apple users don't need to look at it, they just look at the age of their mac. Hey wait, that isn't funny at all! I suck at this.
It seems as if you listened but didn't hear what I saw Echo in your eyes Hollow voices the sounds You listen as if it seems that I Heard what you said
  5. I always keep duplicates. It's also a safe backup way. I really advice you to do both. PNG is usually not a container of a lot of information, but a filetype pushed towards end-user. Only make a PNG when you're finished with doing it, and save the rest to edit it later in a PSD file. But okay, it would be easier if browsers just supported PSD, or PNG supported everything a PSD does. But honestly, is layers the only thing you need to save? Because I don't see you saving effects, styles, typo and vectors like that in a PNG... EDIT So apparantly it does...
  6. Nah. They really don't. You test creativity by looking at what people make, not at the answers they give to weird tests. This test just proves if you're a freakish artsy-type dude. Wich I, incidentally, am.
  7. I do know it's probably better if you save it in a PSD, because even though there might be some layers in that PNG of yours, you're still losing a lot of data. And preferably TIFF.
  8. Man's need to put everything into numbers is disgusting. Creativity is determined by the way you think about the things. Do you swim against stream or with the stream? Do you challenge yourself everyday? Do you wonder why we are here? Creativity is what you can do when you're doing it. Not '73%".
  9. Indeed. The problem of today is that everybody thinks that they can just make this stuff with photoshop and illustrator, but you can't. You need to be creative, find your own ways of using the TOOLS that are provided to you. Photoshop is not creativity Illustrator is not creativity They're tools. If you know your tools, you can make what you want. Michelangelo didn't make the David thanks to the hamer he used, but thanks to the creativity he had.
  10. That happens when they are dropped. You could solve it by making your pin face a little different, or putting it a little higher. A friend of mine solved it with some tape, making the socker less deep so the conencting pin could easely go to both headphones.
  11. Th reason graphic industries use mac is heritage. It was started on mac, and Apple kept targeting them to creative consumers. There no reason why it would run better or worse, it's just the industry that prefers macs because they are used to them.
  12. You can get terrestial television receivers with ananlog input (only the yellow wire, the one with the video). It exists for mac, so it most certainly exists for WIndows. On mac, it plugs in op USB, so on Windows you'll probably find that, too. Didn't help much, but it did give you a direction to look in.
  13. Honestly, almost 90% of all the music downloads is handled by Apple. Those others aren't really popular. Except for AmazonMP3, wich has garnered a lot of succes since their DRM-free stance. But that has nothing to do with Play4Sure.
  14. Yeah everybody heard of Napster, but I think barely anyone knows atht the pirate applications was then reformed into a legal music store where you could buy song instead of share them. Wich idiot came up with their business plan to name a new, legal service after the old, illegal one?
  15. How many of those are succesfull? How many of those still exist? Microsoft Play4Sure DRM was so restrictive people didn't want to buy it.
  16. The MacBook Air is a seperate line of products, like Nintendo DS was when it was introduced. The only thing you need to not need ethernet: a router. That's why there's no ethernet: Apple thinks everything is wireless. Check the Apple iThread for recent comments on Apple's MacBook Air.
  17. DRM doesn't go both ways, except Apple DRM. But honestly, who bought anything from Microsofts Play for Sure?
  18. It's on your MacOS install DVD. It's one of the bundled applications with your mac. It should work. Don't kill me if it doesn't. It still worked a year ago.
  19. Stop talking about the PS3. The PS3 isn't the only player on the market. Yes, it's superior, but still, people who didn't pay for the games machine want a little box on their TV's (or below). And those boxes are being screwed over. Just accept that it's not right what SOny is doing with the new standard. I'm not saying it's going to affect the market - the percentage of stand-alone players is pretty low and the market itself is pretty small at the moment, too - but it's still something that's crippled. Let's see how iTunes Movie Rentals work out before we define BluRay or HD-DVD the winner.
  20. iWork supports the new Metro word files (sorry, I just loved that codename more than XPS). Butt if you want good compatibility get Microsoft office. No matter how many macfans ask you to get iWork, I'de sitll advice you office. There are tuns of people using this everyday and it really is best compatible. For movies: I'de advice you (and everyone else) the QuickTIme pluging Perian. And for all your Windows Media needs: Flip4mac. There's a free one of this just to play your beloved Windows Media files! You can use your laptop to output the signal of the Wii, but you need a connector for this. It's sold seperatly and also allows you TV n your mac. This one should do the trick, but I'de say you'de better ask at a mac store to be sure you can plug your Wii's Yellow Cable down this one. You will need something seperate to output the audio, though.
  21. I doubt the revelation will come from Apple TV. But any PC can run iTunes, so maybe we'll see some saviour from there. You never know. BUt even if Apple doesn't do it, it's digital downloads before BluRay or HD DVD even saw the sun really rising.
  22. Oeh Kingdom Hearts. I always loved the art of those guys, certainly the manga style mixed with DIsney. Sadly it's the generic Final Fantasy boy-with-spiked hairs that's looking at the camera. Stil nice, but less nice. 7/10
  23. True. Problem with Microsofts idea is that they're selling something the public doesn't want: subscription. In the past, you payed a subscription to listen to music. What was the advantage of iTMS? You could end your account and still own the music. The moment you stoped paying to Microsoft, the user lost it's data. People don't like that (certainly not with music). And it does offer DRM free, although at a higher price. I'm not fanboyish, but this is where I see the media industry going: Digita Downloads. Up untill now, Microsoft hasn't offered anything usefull of that matter. But Apple has proven itself in the music marketplace. W'll see, but neither BluRay or HD DVD will get widespread addoption before everyone streams their media - but that's as good as my guess goes.
  24. Honestly, I'm not buying a player to see it outdated just a year after I bought it. DVD didn't really change it's specification, but at least all devices manufactured before a certain date are unable to read it. If they add some more layers, the BD player in the PS3 is rendered useless too because some things can't be done via software. I don't see why they change this stuff all the time. It's for the better, of the new consumer. I'm not buying into this bullcrap. I bet Apple is going to save the day if they can manage to get video downloads running, because Microsoft's NBC download service certainly doesn't really cut it right now. Apple is doing great and I think that Apple will be much less adoptive to BluRay and much ore to ITMS. Downloads is the future, and APple is leading the way (sorry for sounding fanboyish, but all Microsoft attempts at online retail have failed, except for Xbox Marketplace, wich is limited to only xboxes).
  25. Nothing gets past you, eagle-eye  I know, but even so I still think that the SIMS don't require that much. On the other hand, buying a laptop for just the sims is silly - you'de better get something better in case you want to play something else. Maybe get a mac? Haha, just kidding you guys. I know you freak out if I just mention it. Now freak out! Once again bash the mac! I'll just be quiet now.
