As if we have money to buy a magazine that could be shit.. just look at last month's EDGE- price hike to £4.50 and it was a pretty poor issue.

Anyway, this month's EDGE (on sale now) is the Zelda special.

Features

- Internet philanthropy with the people who write FAQs for the games they love.

- Time Extend on Serious Sam

- Assasin's Creed

- Bioware talk about Mass Effect

- Zelda retrospective and spoiler free hands on with Twilight Princess.

- The making of: Warrior (cool arcade game)

Hype

Lair, Devil May Cry 4, Warcraft, Resistant, Alan Wake, Star Trek, Thrillville, The Sopranos, Ridge Racer 7, Dead of Alice, Phantasy Star and Need for Speed Carbon.

Reviewed

Okami, Bully (I won't call it the Latin pseudonym), Scarface, Mage Knight Apocalypse, Destroy all Humans 2, God Hand, Sam & Max, Rule of Rose, Dragon Quest Heroes and Project Slypheed.

Nothing interesting in the guest collumns except the usual rants.. you also get a free Wii everything you need to know.

As a member of this forum you probably know it all.. but it's good propaganda if you want to convince your friends and family to buy a Wii.

Next month PS3 special, presumably the first Wii reviews and all for £4.50

I am thinking of cancelling my EDGE subscription because I am currently unemployed.. while I need something to read on the bus I kinda need the money.

If someone reads Gamestm/ONM it would be nice if you could write up a short summary of what is in the issue for potential buyers.

Thought this would be good and useful each month because I always feel like a pikey spending 10 minutes browsing a magazine in WH.Smith's before I buy.

For most people game magazines are obviously dead because the internet offers much more.. but you can't read the internet on a bus.

Often, if a magazine is in a card case or a plastic cover when usually it isn't, it quite often means it's a poor issue with no real new gaming information. That's why I skipped this weeks edge despite the big Wii logo on the front.

But yeah, this would be a great idea. I know 4/5 quid doesn't sound a huge amount but with the range of magazine I want to buy sometimes, it really adds up fast.

Plastic cover? they only did that because it came with a free magazine which would get stolen otherwise.

They're just doing it for a few months while the transition from £4-£4.50 is taking place, it will go back to normal magazines after next month I imagine.

But I do see what you mean, most people don't care if there are some finger prints on the magazine from other people reading it in store.. so there is not really much reason to wrap it in plastic unless it is poor inside.

It has been four years and five months since EDGE went up in price (as stated in last month's issue when it went up in price). I just personally wait for the new one to come out, then get the old one for free from work. Then read and donate to hospitals. Makes everyone (except the publishers) a winner.

I thought this month's EDGE was very good.....

Got Games tm as well, which is good also. Horrible front cover compared to EDGE though.

I prefer Games TM over EDGE......

EDGE is very well written, but it doesn't sell as ell as most other gaming mags because it's too 'serious'. I never buy games mags anymore, there's so much news on the internet, plus videos all for free.

I thought this month's Edge was very good, as always. The price rise hasn't taken effect on me yet, as I subscribe. The NGamer issue that came out in October was very good, and if it's like any of the past NGamers, issue 4 (out on November 8th) should be a very good read. In a foolish purchase, ONM proved to be, yet again, not very good at all. However, ONM is the cheapest of the three, costing £3.99 (NGamer costs £4.99, but comes with a DVD), so if you are that cash-strapped, it might be justifiable. Still, buy NGamer or Edge.

The thing that interested me about GamesTM was that they had an interview with Jack Thompson.. I just figured I might be missing out on some cool stuff.

EDGE's covers are quite sexual, I also like that they have bias towards UK gaming.

Revolution is the mag I read, never got into multiformat magazines, I just don't care for them. I really despise ONM, though. I think they are a bland, boring, arrogant bunch of idiots. Get rid of them now.

I got the first one of that. It seemed a bit early to release a Wii magazine.

Speaking of magazines. T3 gadget mag has done the first review of Wii. And they liked it pretty much.

Fifteen will be available at launch
Interesting.. I heard more, but perhaps they've got online and seen what's available already.

The graphics only let the Wii down on more traditional, realistic-looking games like Call of Duty 3, which simply works much better on Xbox 360.
Honest, I like that..

It’s around £245 cheaper than the PS3
More people should be saying this.. really puts it into perspective, this is the first time I've heard anyone say this. Also we don't know if the PS3 retail includes VAT or not.. if it doesn't it would take it up to a clean £499.

Good point. Something thats irked me is how many mainstream publications (take the London newspapers for example) have previews PS3 and have actually LIED about the price. I have seen PS3 prices quoted as low as £250, £300 - all while comparing price and features to Wii and 360

From N-zone magazine:

* Blue light on the Wii stays on even when playing games

* A game can be paused with the home button as you go to the main menu

* You can check your Wii-mote battery power

* Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz gets an 81% rating and 85% for its multi-player mode

* Red Steel gets a rating of 85-90%

* Rayman to get 85% and Monster 4×4 is expected to get 70% (for ratings)

* In Red Steel before you start the adventure you are asked to change sensitivity and the way you do it is an aquarium shows up, character shows where different fishes are, point with the Wii-mote so you can calibrate (with three fishes targeted) and Viola!

:yay:

That should make calibration more of a pleasure than a chore.. does it say how often? or is it a one off?

Because learning a different calibration for each game could get a bit laborious.. would be better standardized if it is every time you boot up/change game.
