CompSci Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 New features include: * Visual Refresh: Firefox 2's theme and user interface have been updated to improve usability without altering the familiarity of the browsing experience. * Built-in phishing protection: Phishing Protection warns users when they encounter suspected Web forgeries, and offers to return the user to their home page. * Improved tabbed browsing: By default, Firefox will open links in new tabs instead of new windows, and each tab will now have a close tab button. * Inline spell checking: A new built-in spell checker enables users to quickly check the spelling of text entered into Web forms plus more (check release notes) http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

AshMat Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I caved, ill give it a shot. Well im on it right now, it is quite good after all, ills tick it out for a while.
Gaijin von Snikbah Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Going to check it out, though it looks like a Opera rip-off.
Bogbas Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Going to check it out, though it looks like a Opera rip-off. It's a free browser, can't see anyone getting a benefit(other than the user) from those supposed 'rip offs'
Shorty Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Anyone know how to get rid of the little red "x" on the tabs? They're useless to me as I use middle click to close a tab... they're just in the way. I am loving this new spellchecker though (it just pointed out that spellchecker is not a word...)
triforce_keeper Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I had firefox 2 beta before this final release. Mostly the same. But I also do love the spell checker
mario_jr Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Its good, now that I got the FlashGot plugin for FlashGet.
That Guy Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Is this released on Mac aswell? Because I hate Safari.
CompSci Posted October 25, 2006 Author Posted October 25, 2006 But I also do love the spell checker yes a splendid feature
DCK Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 So Firefox won't update itself for this? (I guess not as it probably would've done it by now )
Hellfire Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 yes a splendid feature Can I change the language of the spellchecker cause I dloaded the portuguese version, so the spellchecker is always annoying me.
DCK Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I'm enjoying it now, looking pretty snazzy :awesome:
CompSci Posted October 25, 2006 Author Posted October 25, 2006 Can I change the language of the spellchecker cause I dloaded the portuguese version, so the spellchecker is always annoying me. why not redownload and install the English vr
xanikseo Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I wouldn't get anything new by upgrading to FF2, I've got 45 extensions which do more and better things than FF2 in better ways. You can always use SpellBound for FF1.5 for spell checking. I'm using it now. If I upgraded to FF2, I would only be able to do less things, as about a third of my extensions don't work with FF2. So the only reason for me to upgrade, is for security issues...
Shino Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Can I change the language of the spellchecker cause I dloaded the portuguese version, so the spellchecker is always annoying me. Right click on the field you're writing and choose language. I tried the Portuguese version but it was so buggy I turned back to English.

Ginger_Chris Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Its a nice little browser. Just got it when I updated from dapper to edgy. Not sure i'm a fan of the individual crosses on tabs, but i'll get used to it. Hopefully If enough members of this forum get it, there'll be a massive increase in peoples ability to spell.
