After reading through the SNES V Megadrive topic I was thinking about some of the lesser known gems that the machines had to offer. I will start we these...

Its crazy this one as I cant remember anything about the actual game but I remember when I was younger I totally loved it. Im sure I finished it aswell.

This one I never did finish but the game was so addictive. I remember the sequel not being as good but like was still enjoyable. Im suprised that Konami left the series alone and have never done an update.

Probably better known than the previous 2 games mentioned. Another great game for the Megadrive and even though Capcom did eventually make a sequel it wasnt a patch on the original. The sound that Strider makes when swinging his sword still remains in my mind today.

Possibly the first real RPG I played. I always remember my brother was in the RAF at the time and he came back home on leave with a Megadrive and this game. He left it for me and my other brother to play on...ah happy days.

I cant think of any for the SNES yet but Im sure others will.

Does Crash Team Racing count as a "hidden gem"? Cos that game was better than Mario Kart 64 if you ask me.

It does in a way. Many people know of its awesomeness, but overall i think it goes unrecognised.

(It's my favourite game ever)

(The second coming of christ was when the Sega Saturn was releases ^^)

I dunno how well known these games are but i´ve never heard anyone talking about them and these are just brilliant!

Excellent additions there Mundi. I loved Guardian Heroes it was one of the best games of the 32bit generation. I never did get to play either Dragon Force or Shining Wisdom. Dragon Force always goes for around £50 on ebay hence me never picking it up.

Too bad, both are great games. Was very disappointed with one thing about Dragon Force, the sequel to the game was never released out of japan :(

Hah! I remember that game, I used to love that helicopter with the rocket launchers... Never used to play the game properly... used to just ride around in the vehicles causing rampant destruction.

Another game I used to love was Moonstone on the Amiga.

I've picked up some rare(ish) titles in some of my car boot raids recently.

Picked up Gunstar Heroes for £4

Big sky trooper

Mystic quest

Headphone Jack

Parodius

Pop n' Twinbee

and a few others

My biggest bargain was Ultima 6 for PC. Bought for a quid, sold for £65!

Pop n Twinbee is masterfull! I'd love to see the other games of it come to the Virtual Console but I doubt that they will make an appearance somehow

All top notch games. Alundra was the closet thing to Zelda on the PSOne, Wild Arms was an awesome RPG and for some reason we didnt get the 2nd game over here. Rival Schools is an amazing fighting game but never got the push it deserved due to everyone being "amazed" by the Tekken series.

I think konami are supporting the VC and pop n twinbee are one of their most popular series from the snes days. Here's hoping!

The closest thing you'll ever get to a 3D Super Mario World.

This game had simple and fun gameplay, fantastic levels and art design, I love it so much and I was so relieved that I was able to find it again when I re-bought a PS2.

It will probably be impossible to find now but if you do see it this is a must have, it is probably one of the final 2D/3D platformers out there.

Thanks for this McMad, I may look into finding this as I love a good platformer.

Klonoa 2 Trailer

Here's a trailer of the game so you can get a glimpse of what to expect, it is a game made for kids so it isn't too difficult unlike Super Mario World which caused me to cry in anger many times.

One of my fave PS2 games of all time. The GBA games were pretty good too
