Dante
Sorry Konfucius, I am taken the UK & PS3 sales this week. Sony’s PS3 becomes the fastest selling home console in the UK, selling an estimated 165,000 units in its first two days of release, bettered only by its older handheld sibling the PSP which sold around 185,000. PS3 is the most expensive console to be released in the UK, launching at £424.99 with 22 games from 7 different publishers while PSP had 24 games available from 11 different publishers when it was released in September 2005. PS3 launch software registered almost 3 times more units than PS2, but with a similar software to hardware attachment rate of 1.65 compared to PS2’s 1.67. ‘Resistance: Fall of Man’ leads the PS3 assault on this week’s All Formats Chart, awarding Sony with their first All Formats No1 since ‘Shadow of the Collosus’ just over a year ago. Sony’s ‘MotorStorm’ on PS3, by Cheshire developer Evolution Studios, starts its engines at No2 while there are a total of 6 new PS3 games represented in the Top 10 with 13 new PS3 games in the Top 40 (5 of which are exclusive to Sony’s new format). ‘Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories’ from Rockstar/Take 2 tumbles from No1 to No6, behind multi-format newcomers ‘Brian Lara International Cricket 2007’ on Xbox 360, PS2 and PC at No3, Sega’s ‘Virtua Tennis 3’ on PS3/Xbox 360 at No4 and Activision’s ‘Call of Duty 3’, up from No20 to No5 thanks to the release of the PS3 version. Other PS3 games represented in the All Formats Top 10 are Sony’s ‘Formula 1: Championship Edition’ at No7 and ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07’ from EA which slips from No5 to No9. Format holder Sony grabs the Top 3 games in the PS3 Chart, more than both Microsoft and Nintendo, who only managed the top two in their respective Xbox 360 and Wii launch week charts. Codemasters’ ‘Brian Lara International Cricket 2007’ is not the only non-PS3 new release to make the Top 10 with THQ’s PC game ‘S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl’ sneaking in at No8. There are 12 new titles that enter the All Formats Top 40 this week, but not all are on PS3 with EA’s ‘UEFA Champions League 2006-2007’ debuting at No15 and ‘TMNT: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ from Ubisoft at No19. ‘Ridge Racer’ may have topped both the All Formats and PSP chart when Sony’s handheld was launched, but Namco Bandai Games/Sony’s ‘Ridge Racer 7’ on PS3 has to settle for No11 across all formats and No5 in the PS3 Chart. EA’s new ‘Def Jam: Icon’ on PS3 and Xbox 360 is at No12 with the Xbox 360 version representing 63% of sales. Sega ‘Virtua Tennis 3’ lobs ‘Virtua Fighter 5’ in the PS3 Chart, coming in at No6 - one place ahead of the fabled beat-em-up, with the PS3 exclusive brawler having to settle for No14 in the All Formats Chart. Sony’s 5th and final PS3-exclusive launch title ‘Genji: Days of the Blade’ enters at No16 rounding off a very successful week for the publisher. No one brought wii games this week? Konfucius
Sorry Konfucius, I am taken the UK & PS3 sales this week. That's ok. I see you also did a better job there than me. Quite a same to see no Wii games. Last week they didn't do amazingly but to drop out is really surprising.
Konfucius
First off my apologies for being late again but Uni and CnC Tibwars kept me rather occupied. While we're at Tiberium Wars: It's on top of the charts which is quite surprising for a PC-only title. The original Command & Conquer stormed onto PCs 11½ years ago, debuting in the same week as the launch of Sony’s iconic Playstation console (week 39, 1995). This week EA’s revolutionary strategy franchise proves it is far from forgotten with ‘Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars’ again giving Sony’s console launch a run for its money by toppling ‘Resistance: Fall of Man’ on PS3 to claim No1 in the All Formats Chart. It has taken the Command & Conquer series almost 7½ years to regain top spot in the All Formats Chart, having held on to No1 for 4 weeks with ‘Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun’ back in August 1999. Sony’s heavyweight PS3 exclusives have to make way, with ‘Resistance: Fall of Man’ down to No2, dropping 66% in sales and ‘Motorstorm’ slipping from No2 to No3 (down 62% in sales). Codemasters’ ‘Brain Lara International Cricket 2007’ has a solid 2nd innings thanks to improved 2nd week sales of the PS2 version (up from No2 to No1 in the PS2 Full Price Chart ahead of newcomer ‘Medal of Honor: Vanguard’ at No2), but still has to make way for Command and Conquer by dropping one place from No3 to No4. The PSP and PC versions of ‘Virtua Tennis 3’ are new this week, but are not enough to lift Sega above Codemasters, the tennis game also down one place from No4 to No5. Ubisoft’s ‘TMNT: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ is boosted by the success of the new film, breaking into the All Formats Top 10, up from No21 to No6. EA’s ‘UEFA Champions League 2006-2007’ joins TMNT as the only Top 10 All Formats games to increase in sales this week. There are only 2 new releases in the All Formats Top 40 this week and both are from EA – ‘Command and Conquer 3’ on PC at No1 and ‘Medal of Honor: Vanguard’ for PS2 and Wii at No11. The PS3 version of ‘Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Double Agent’ is the only new release for Sony’s new console this week, taking the total number of PS3 games available to 23. TW LW Title 9 9 Tiger Woods PGA Tour (not Wii exclusive but tops the Wii charts as well) 20 22 Brain Training (DS) 26 27 New Super Mario Bros (DS) 29 26 Spectorbes (DS) 38 - Theme Park (DS) 40 32 Sonic and the secret rings (Wii) Here are the charts
Konfucius
TOP 40 ENTERTAINMENT SOFTWARE (ALL PRICES), WEEK ENDING 7 April 2007 Surprise, surprise PC game CNC 3 still on top but I can understand that, it's pretty amazing. Ubisoft’s ‘TMNT: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ enjoys a cowabunga Easter, almost toppling EA’s ‘Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars’ at the top of the All Formats Chart, up 4 places from No6 to No2, while the PC strategy giant remains at No1 for a second week despite a fall of 43% in sales. There are only 592 unit sales between Ubisoft’s film tie-in and the No1 spot. Sony’s PS3 exclusive games ‘Resistance: Fall of Man’ and ‘Motorstorm’ both slip out of the All Formats Top 10, down to No’s 11 and 15 respectively, making way for PS2 and Xbox 360 games such as EA’s ‘Medal of Honor: Vanguard’ (No1 PS2 Full Price game, ahead of ‘TMNT’ at No2) up from No11 to No4 in its second week of release and the revival of Red Octane/Activision’s ‘Guitar Hero II’ re-entering at No5 thanks to the launch of the souped-up Xbox 360 version (No1 Xbox 360 Full Price game). The launch of new Sims expansion pack ‘The Sims 2: Celebration Stuff’ has breathed life back into EA’s franchise with ‘The Sims 2’ No12, ‘The Sims 2: Pets’ No13 and ‘The Sims 2: Seasons’ No29, all witnessing healthy sales increases of 52%, 60% and 34% respectively. However, the new expansion pack itself does not make it into the All Formats Top 40, despite debuting at the top of the PC budget chart. Konfucius
if a game tops the list it doesnt meen its good . remeber bouncer for the ps2? I know but in this case I think it's really good which has mainly to do with the fact that I own Tiberium Wars and love it - although it's no Tiberian Sun but still great. I actually mentioned it because it's very unlikely for a PC title to stay at the top of the UK Charts.
Konfucius
TOP 40 ENTERTAINMENT SOFTWARE (ALL PRICES), WEEK ENDING 14 April 2007 After last week’s disappointment of losing out to ‘Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars’ by a small margin, Ubisoft’s film tie-in ‘TMNT: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ climbs one place to No1, beating off competition from Nintendo’s 4th Pokemon game for DS ‘Pokemon Ranger’ - this weeks only new entry, at No2. Ubisoft infiltrate the rest of the All Formats Chart thanks to a strong retailer promotion across 7 of their super-budget PC games. There are now 10 Ubisoft titles in the All Formats Top 40 with re-entries for ‘Rayman 2: The Great Escape’ at No3, ‘Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30’ at No6 and ‘Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’ at No10. ‘Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars’ is caught in the crossfire, falling from No1 to No5, but EA can console themselves with an above par performance from ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07’ which moves its way up the leaderboard from No9 to No4. With ‘UEFA Champions League 2006-2007 dropping to No11, Codemasters ‘Brian Lara International Cricket 2007’ is only the 2nd other All Format Top 10 sports title, despite slipping 4 places to No7. Nintendo’s ‘Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training’ has now spent 25 of its 45 weeks of release inside the All Formats Top 10, climbing back in to the Top 10 for the third time, up from No14 to No9. After failing to enter the All Formats Top 40 in its week of release, ‘The Sims 2: Celebration Stuff’ enjoys a bumper 2nd week at No19. The highest ranking PS3-exclusive game in now Sony’s ‘Motorstorm’ (6,899) at No22, overtaking ‘Resistance: Fall of Man’ (No27) at the top of the PS3 chart, while there is no change at the top of the PSP, Xbox 360 and PC Full Price Charts, headed by ‘300: March to Glory’, ‘Guitar Hero II’ and ‘Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars’ respectively. Kurtle Squad
Wow! Pokemon Ranger sold very well indeed, considering it's a spin-off. It is a dryish period for games, and it's still bought by parents or their pokékids. I'm still confused how Brain Training holds so high.
Konfucius
TOP 40 ENTERTAINMENT SOFTWARE (ALL PRICES), WEEK ENDING 21 April 2007 In its ongoing quest to ‘catch ‘em all’ ‘Pokemon Ranger’ defeats last week’s All Formats Champion ‘TMNT: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’, presenting Nintendo with their first All Formats No1 since ‘Pokemon Ruby’ on GBA just under 4 years ago. ‘Pokemon Ranger’ becomes the 6th Pokemon title to reach the top of the All Formats Chart in the past 10 years, while also being the first Pokemon title on DS to reach No1 in the DS chart. Ubisoft’s ‘TMNT’ slips one place to No2, almost losing out to ‘Wii Play’, which rises from No24 to No3 thanks to strong availability. It is another good week for Nintendo’s handheld – there are 7 DS exclusive games featuring in the All Formats Top 40 with ‘Harvest Moon DS’ from Rising Star Games storming into 4th place after not making the Top 40 when it was released last week. Other DS exclusives making their first All Formats Top 40 appearances are Nintendo’s ‘Hotel Dusk: Room 215’ at No22 in its second week, while ‘All-Time Classics’ re-enters at No21 and 505 Games’ ‘Cooking Mama’ gets its first taste of All Formats Chart success at No35. Two more PS3 games are launched this week, pushing the total number of PS3 games to 25. Both games are ports – Vivendi’s ‘F.E.A.R’ debuts at No3 in the PS3 Chart (No17 All Formats) behind ‘Motorstorm’ and ‘Resistance’, while the postponed ‘The Godfather’ from EA begins life in the PS3 Chart at No10. In a week low on the ground for new releases, the only individual format chart to witness a change at the top is Xbox 360 with ‘Crackdown’ up from No2 to No1. Konfucius
TOP 40 ENTERTAINMENT SOFTWARE (ALL PRICES), WEEK ENDING 28 April 2007 There are a total of 11 Nintendo games in the Charts this week, 8 for DS and 3 for Wii. ‘God of War II’ on PS2 rewards Sony with its 2nd All Formats No1 so far this year, debuting ahead of RPG newcomer ‘Lord of the Rings: Online', new at No2 (released on Tuesday) and RPG veteran ‘The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion’, back in the All Formats Top 40 at No3 thanks to its release this week on PS3. ‘Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar’, published by Codemasters and developed by Turbine (creators of other MMORPG titles ‘Asherons Call’ and ‘D&D Online: Stormreach’) becomes the second fastest selling online-only PC title, behind World of Warcraft. Last week’s No1 from Nintendo ‘Pokemon Ranger’ is down to No5, while stablemate ‘Wii Play’ moves ahead of it, despite falling from No3 to No4. There have now been 12 different titles at the top of the All Formats Chart in the first 17 weeks of 2007. Fellow format holder Sony proves that there is still life in PS2 with the arrival of ‘Singstar Pop Hits’ at No6, giving Sony two All Formats Top 10 titles. The release of ‘Buzz!: The Mega Quiz’ at No16 rounds off a strong week of first party releases for Sony. Nintendo does however also enjoy chart success - ‘Hotel Dusk: Room 215’ is up from No22 to No11 and ‘Diddy Kong Racing DS’ enters at No13 in its second week of release. 4 3 WiiPlay (Wii) 5 1 Pokémon Ranger (DS) 8 4 Harvest Moon (DS) 9 6 Brain Training (DS) 11 22 Hotel Dusk (DS) 13 - Diddy Kong Racing DS 17 19 New Super Mario Bros (DS) 25 21 42 All-Time Classics (DS) 35 35 Cooking Mama (DS) 31 - Sonic and the secret Rings (Wii) 39 - Zelda TP (Wii + GC) Charts

Konfucius
Edit: Now this weeks charts: TOP 40 ENTERTAINMENT SOFTWARE (ALL PRICES), WEEK ENDING 5 May 2007 After one week Sony’s ‘God of War II’ is deposed at the top of the All Formats Chart by Activision’s web-slinging super-hero film tie-in ‘Spider-Man 3’, pushing ‘God of War II’ down to No3, behind ‘Wii Play’ which climbs 2 places from No4 to No2 – up 30% in sales, helped by renewed Wii hardware stock. ‘Spider-Man 3’ records its highest sales on Xbox 360, accounting for 45% of units, while PS2 is 40%, Wii 10%, DS 4% and 1% on PC. It was a different story with the release of ‘Spider-Man 2’ which dominated on PS2 with a 65% share, compared to 23% on the original Xbox back in week 28, 2004. Sony however claim the highest number of All Formats Top 10 titles with ‘Singstar Pop Hits’ showing no signs of losing its voice, up from No6 to No4 and ‘Buzz! The Mega Quiz’ breaking into the Top 10 in its second week of release, up from No16 to No6. Promotional bundling of the PC version shoots ‘FIFA 07’ back into the Top 10 at No7, while ‘Pokemon Ranger’ manages to stay ahead of the big DS exclusive new entry this week ‘Final Fantasy III’ despite slipping from No5 to No10. ‘Final Fantasy III’ from Square-Enix is this week’s second highest new entry, debuting one place behind ‘Pokemon Ranger’ at No11 in the All Formats Chart and at No2 in the DS Chart, while ‘Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar’ is this week’s biggest All Formats casualty, dropping from No2 to No17, but still holding on to top spot in the PC Full Price Chart. Konfucius
Sorry for not updating, I forgot. TOP 40 ENTERTAINMENT SOFTWARE (ALL PRICES), WEEK ENDING 12 May 2007 Activision’s ‘Spider-Man 3’ sticks to No1 in the All Formats Chart for a second week with sales up 26% and benefiting from the cross-promotional activity surrounding the movie. The Xbox 360 version of ‘Spider-Man 3’ outsold the PS2 version on launch week, but this week the PS2 version is the super-hero, climbing 73% while the Xbox 360 version drops by 25%. However, the Xbox 360 version of ‘Spider-Man 3’ has to contend with the launch of the first Next-Gen version of ‘Command & Conquer’ as the release of ‘Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars’ (82% Xbox 360, 18% PC) pushes EA’s strategy title up from No20 to No2 (No1 on Xbox 360 ahead of Spider-Man 3 at No2). The Platinum PS2 and PSP releases of ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 6’ shoot Konami’s successful title back into the All Formats Top 10, up from No25 to No4, ahead of ‘FIFA 07’, up from No7 to No5 - continuing to enjoy a sales surge thanks to bundling on PC. After simmering nicely on Nintendo DS in recent weeks, ‘Cooking Mama’ from 505 Games serves up the first ever All Formats Top 10 position for the traditionally budget focused UK publisher - the release of the Wii version propels ‘Cooking Mama’ from No23 to No6. ‘Final Fantasy III’ from Square-Enix also breaks into the All Formats Top 10 this week, up from No11 to No7, toppling ‘Pokemon Ranger’ at the top of the DS Chart. Konfucius
TOP 40 ENTERTAINMENT SOFTWARE (ALL PRICES), WEEK ENDING 19 May 2007 The release this week of the PS3 version of ‘Spider-Man 3’ ensures that Activision’s film tie-in continues to hang on to No1 in the All Formats Chart for a third week. ‘Spider-Man 2’ managed 5 weeks at the top of the All Formats Chart when it was released 3 years ago. ‘Spider-Man 3’ is the first All Formats No1 for Activision since another film tie-in, ‘Madagascar’ in August 2005. ‘Spider-Man 3’ now tops both the PS2 and PS3 Charts with the PS3 version accounting for 19% and the PS2 version 49% of all ‘Spider-Man 3’ sales this week. ‘Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars’ is a non-mover from EA at No2, while Konami’s budget-priced ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 6’ shifts up one place to No3. ‘Cooking Mama’ from 505 Games, now on both DS and Wii, is starting to get a taste for Chart success, up one place to No5. The All Formats Top 10 is well represented with games on Nintendo formats (Wii, DS) with a total of 7 games, compared to 4 for both Sony (PS3, PS2, PSP) and Microsoft (Xbox 360). It is an above par week for ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07’ which benefits from strong Wii sales, up from No10 to No6, while EA’s ‘FIFA 07’ moves the other way, down from No5 to No7. With the date for Halo 3 now confirmed as 26th September, ‘Crackdown 3’, which contains a free Halo 3 Beta, re-enters the All Formats Top 10, up from No19 to No8.
