gaggle64 Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Hey I just found on the shiny-new gamespot.com in their weekly rumour column yet another listing on the Revos spec. Apparently an "insider from Factor 5" has got his greasy (and possibly lying) mits on details about the Revos specifications.Click the link below to read them. I'm not a big tech guy, but what is intresting about the article is that gamespot claims it's a plausable spec sheet, but reiterates that we'll still have to wait and see before we have any godd idea about the Revos performance. Any thoughts?
Pit-Jr Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 IGN already proved this rumor to be false (unfortunately), so dont get your hopes up
NeoBlizz Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Yeah. but everyone is mixing and matching wrong... IGN say that the specs by "Han Solo" that supposedly work for Factor 5 is fake.. But the specs they how is NOT the specs "Han Solo" released. Look like someone took "Han Solos" specs and even amped up those quite a bit before sending them to IGN to be proven false or true. Han Solo released: CPU: 1 IBM Custom PowerPC 2.5 GHz with 256 KB L1 cache and 1 MB of L2 cache (an L3 cache is rumored). It’s Dual Threaded 13 billion dot product operations per second Revolution GPU: ATI Custom based RN520 core. The "N" stands for Nintendo, and is because the ArtX team is with them, that is why it’s an "N". GPU core at 600 MHz. Will support up to 2048x1268 resolution, HD support is still being decided. Will have 256 MB’s of 1T-SRAM (the RAM is much better due to some tweaking, compared to GC’s RAM. The latency and Cells are much more efficient and faster. Around 1.2 ns is the latency, on average). 32 parallel floating-point dynamically scheduled shader pipelines. Polygon Performance: 500 million triangles per second theoretical, average in game would be around <100 Million/sec> Shader Performance: ~50 billion shader operations per second Revolution memory: 512 MB of 700 MHz 1T-SRAM Other bits and pieces: Revolution will support a PPU chip (Physical Processing Chip). There will be 32 MB’s of its own RAM, which will link to the CPU and GPU and the Controller. There will also be a separate sound card that will support only DD 5.1 – DTS 7.1, rumors has it will have 16 MB’s, like the Cube DSP THIS IS WHAT IGN & FACTOR5 (Julian Eggebrecht) SAY IS FAKE | Codename Revolution | Central Processing Unit: * Custom IBM CPU "Broadway" * 1x IBM PowerPC 970 core @ 3.0 GHz * 256 kB L1 cache * Single core and multicore operation modes * 2x IBM PowerPC 970FX cores @ 2.5 GHz * 2x 128 kB L1 cache * Optional activation for multicore * Low power consumption 1 MB L2 cache * 32-bit integer, 64-bit floating point * Two threads per core, six threads total * 11 billion dot product operations/second (peak) Graphics Processing Unit: * Custom ATI GPU "Hollywood" * Dual customized ATI R520 cores @ 500 MHz * ATI "Crossfire" dual core technology * 10 MB embedded EDRAM * 2x 128 MB GDDR4 graphics memory @ 1.25 GHz * 50 GB/second texture bandwith (peak) * Next-gen hardware prestations * 2048x1536 maximum resolution (DVI) * 1920x1080 maximum resolution (1080i) * 650 million triangles/second (peak) * 100 million polygons/second (expected performance) * 112 million shader operations/second (peak) * 56 million shader operations/second (expected performance) Physics Processing Unit: * Custom AGEIA PPU * Customized AGEIA PhysX PPU @ 400 MHz * Hardware physics acceleration * 32 MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM physics memory @ 400 MHz Sound Processing Unit: * Custom NEC Sound DSP * Custom NEC digital signal processor * 256 simultaneous channels * 196 KHz maximum sample rate * Sound ADPCM encoding * Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby DTS support * 16 MB embedded SRAM sound memory Memory: * 512 MB 1T-SRAM @ 900 MHz main memory * No memory read delay * 10 MB EDRAM @ 500 MHz embedded video memory * 2x 128 MB GDDR4 @ 1.25 GHz graphics memory * 32 MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM @ 400 MHz physics memory * 16 MB SRAM sound memory * Total of 826 MB RAM Miscellaneous system data: * 1.2 billion floating point operations/second (peak) * 65 nm manufacturing process * Liquid metal cooling * 65x better heat conduction than water * No fans or pumps involved Media: * Custom Panasonic 12 cm discs * 12 GB data storage * CD/DVD support * Supports DVD-9, DVD-5, DVD-ROM, DVD+/-R, DVD+/-RW, Audio DVD, SVCD, VCD and audio CD. * 16x DVD speed, 21.6 MBit/second data transfer Data storage: * 4 MB embedded EDROM (system utilities) * 512 MB embedded Flash ROM (data storage) * 2x SecureDigital memory card slot * 64 Mbit/second read speed (peak) * 16 Mbit/second write speed (peak) * Supports up to 16 GB per slot * 2x Nintendo GameCube Memory Card slots * 4 Mbit/second read speed (peak) * 2 Mbit/second write speed (peak) Networking: * 802.11g compliant network chip * 54 Mbit/second data transfer (peak) * Backward compatible with 802.11b protocol * Compatible with any 802.11g / 802.11b router, as well as the Nintendo PC Access Point and Nintendo DS * 150 ft range (peak) * 50 ft range (expected inhouse performance) ************************************** You see, the Single Core 2,5GHz CPU just became multicore and 3 Ghz instead and many more amped specs like FULL HDTV-support accurding to GFX part.
Mundi Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 a word of advice... don´t listen or get your´e hops up on rumours about the spec´s just wait til nintendo comes and says: Hey here are the specs for the NR
Shazman Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Well sounds pretty awesome, the only problems is see is that one its a rumour and second if it was true....How could the REV tiny structure cool all that off
NeoBlizz Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Hardware developer is not agreeeing with eachother on the specs though, Some say its impossible to put it in Revolutions small design and other say it more then possible.. So until Nintendo speak we just dont know. BUT if someone is to debunk rumor specs make it believable by not having wrong "author" for the specs you're debunking.
DCK Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Heh, I actually sent in the second one to IGN to hear what they'd say (I'm NOT kidding, seriously). Anyway, if Nintendo want to do good they should at least make the hardware jump Cube --> Rev as big as N64 --> Cube, which should be very possible. A G5 @ 2.0-2.5 GHz and a decent amount of RAM (256 megs) as well as a good GPU by ATI should do just fine, especially if they include a PPU.
gaggle64 Posted October 4, 2005 Author Posted October 4, 2005 It certainly the consensus that the rumoured specs are at least plausible if not accurate. I'm confident that the Revo will significantly more powerful then the GC, if not as powerful as the 360 or PS3. Iwata has claimed that "when you see the graphics, you will say: 'wow!'" and "there will be no significant difference between the Revolution graphics and it's competitors on a regular (non HD) TV screen", and I am confident that both those statements to be fully justified by Revo's launch.
Big Red Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 pish posh the only way we will ever get anything out of nintendo is u capture and torture some one high up but dont expect anthing soon their hardy little bliters

BeerMonkey Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 why is the specs so important.....OMG its not the most powerful machine.....so freaking what as long as it produces good games i couldnt care less
Charlie Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 why is the specs so important.....OMG its not the most powerful machine.....so freaking what as long as it produces good games i couldnt care less That's what most people here think, but the non-intelligent kind (chavs) think "zomg lololol, da gayvolution is teh lest powaful console. it;s for lil kids!"
gorrit Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 *sets off to kidnap Miyamoto* Don't do that, will take longer until the next Miyamoto game is released! :P
GamerFX128 Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 they are completely fake oh can anyone tell me what does numbers mean cux im not computer exper when i comes to decifering #s like that

gaggle64 Posted October 5, 2005 Author Posted October 5, 2005 The question isn't if their genuine, the question is wether or not they're PLAUSABLE.
pedrocasilva Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 The question isn't if their genuine, the question is wether or not they're PLAUSABLE.I think they are, but if that's true I dont see it being much cheaper than Xbox 360 to make (at the end of 2006, of course)
