KKOB Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 I just saw a bit of mononoke on film four, and realised that of course everything is dubbed... I'm not watching it now... nestweek theyre repeating the subbed original jap dub for all you snobs out there :P
Supergrunch Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 nestweek theyre repeating the subbed original jap dub for all you snobs out there :P Meh... I'm snobby enough to already have it on dvd. What really pisses me off is when the dvds don't let you do Japanese without English subs. Gaggle 64: They're Tanookis (sp?) Tanuki, 狸 (actually racoon dog, not racoon). Laputa is like Skies of Arcadia, so it's great. If Laputa is like Skies of Arcadia, then I must watch it.
Dark Wolf Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 I still don't like it how they aren't showing the films by Takahata. Grave of the Fireflies is so good. They should show Whisper too (the best Ghibli film)
spirited away Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 I still don't like it how they aren't showing the films by Takahata. Grave of the Fireflies is so good. They should show Whisper too (the best Ghibli film) Grave of the Fireflies is amamzing, very emotional as well. Are they showing Princess Mononoke again? I really want to see that
Dark Wolf Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Yeah, I thinked the subbed versions are next week. By the way, http://www.dvd.co.uk are selling most of the Ghibli films for £10

They should show Whisper too (the best Ghibli film) i think theyre only showing films that had Miyazaki's direct involvement, thats the feeling i got from the TV ad, but its probably not true.

shaq365 Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Grave of the Fireflies is on on Saturday night/Sunday morning at 2:05...
gaggle64 Posted August 7, 2006 Author Posted August 7, 2006 Grave of the Fireflies is on on Saturday night/Sunday morning at 2:05... AM? That's just criminal.
KKOB Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 my mom didnt like Laputa, i did btu she thought it was too boring. . . odd
shaq365 Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 AM? That's just criminal. I'm guessing it's a mixture of being a bit hard going for the afternoon slot of the other Ghibli films and the fact it's not going to draw in big numbers in the evening. Better than not at all and this is the age of PVRs and Sky+. I have it on DVD anyway...
Guest Stefkov Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 I watched what i could of Laputa, what with missing the start 20 minutes, only realising after 5 minutes that tehres a filmfour +1. Then i missed probably the main part when they land on laputa cos of dinner, watched the end and i thought it was a good film.
Kurtle Squad Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 If Laputa is like Skies of Arcadia, then I must watch it. Actually, a lot of it was influence for Grandia
KKOB Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 YAAAAAAY!!!! TOTORO WAS SOOOO MUCH FUN i adore that film! was so funny and sweet and charming and awesome
Ryan Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Just watched Totoro, pretty weird for my tastes. But that was the first anime film I've ever watched..
gaggle64 Posted August 8, 2006 Author Posted August 8, 2006 It is one of the weirder Ghibli movies. Really was good though - that cat bus is actually a little scary.
Ryan Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 It is one of the weirder Ghibli movies. Really was good though - that cat bus is actually a little scary. Definately weird. I'm still going to watch the rest of them though, just to see the appeal of anime pretty much..
KKOB Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Nausicaa is on today!!! it an awesome awesome film!!!! i have this one on DVD atm so i'll probably be playing on my 360 but everyone must watch this film! its just plain fantastic!

Supergrunch Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Definately weird. I'm still going to watch the rest of them though, just to see the appeal of anime pretty much.. Bear in mind that Ghibli is pretty different to most anime. (but still good)
martinist Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 i missed Nausica although i'm not bothered since a got it on DVD, Totoro was wierd though cat bus was pretty good
Guest Stefkov Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 I loved Nausicaa, i missed the first 15 minutes again due to playing smash bros. porco rosso on today. not so sure as to what to expect.
Colin Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Watching Porco Rosso at the moment. Fantastic so far compared to all the other Ghibli Films that have been on this week.
Ryan Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Bear in mind that Ghibli is pretty different to most anime. (but still good) They are definately weird, but I like them so far. I hope Porco Rosso repeats soon I only got to watch a small part of that..
