pedrocasilva Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Sadly, we didn’t get a chance to check the game out on the PS3, so I dunno about that, but the Wii version was… interesting. Graphically, it looked fine—up to the level of COD on an Xbox. Activision must have worked very hard to wring this much graphical power from the little Nintendo. But the controls on the Wii take a LOT of getting used to. The sensitivity of the aiming controller was one thing. At first, the game seemed nearly unplayable, with the sights jerking around and the view changing with the smallest flinch of the controller, but the options allow you to turn the sensitivity way down and make the game useable… Useable but not necessarily better that traditional control schemes. Learning an entirely new control system in a genre of games you’ve been playing for 10 years is not something you can really accomplish in the amount of time we had, so it’s hard to be entirely fair with this assement, but overall, I’d rather play it on a traditional controller, although it was fun to learn it on the Wii. At least the new control system gave me an excuse for my terrible playing. (...) Then we played the Wii. I didn’t have high expectations for the graphics, but I was surprised that they weren’t a muddy mess, they actually looked good! I knocked down the Wii-mote sensitivity a few notches which helped with precision and taming the camera. The dpad selects grenades and with a quick flip of the wrist you are tossing pineapples at the enemy. When battling one on one with a soldier visual icons come up on the screen indicating what motion you should be doing with your Wii-mote. The first action I did was a punch motion with the nun chuck and Wii-mote and after two times I was tuckered out. I think I was getting a bit to ‘into’ it, because there is no reason for over-exaggerated motions, but it’s hard to hold back when some guy is attacking you face to face on a 40-inch TV. Don’t expect to just pick up the controllers and run in guns blazing, it takes a few minutes to re-learn how to play a FPS with the Wii-mote, but I can’t wait for another chance to play. Source: http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/TheFeed/post/651555/Call_of_Duty_3_HandsOn.html Why! Why don't they complain for the graphics! They have to! I smell Brainwash!
Smiter Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 The first action I did was a punch motion with the nun chuck and Wii-mote and after two times I was tuckered out. Somebody needs to exercise more. :p He won't last in Wii Boxing... I do like the sound of the controls, especially the flicking the Wiimote upwards to mimic reloading. I might consider buying this game after I've got the must-have games, depends how the final product shapes up.
mcj metroid Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 why is everyone on other forums complaining about the graphics?not that bad actually
pedrocasilva Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 why is everyone on other forums complaining about the graphics?not that bad actuallySimply put... because the internet loves to complain.
Phube Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 From Gamespot: Aside from this difference, the game played like you'd expect. All the core mechanics are the same here as in the PS3 and 360 versions--the difference is merely in how you interface with the game. Luckily, horizontal and vertical sensitivity adjustments were available in the build we played, so we could fine-tune the aiming to our liking, and afterward, we found the actual shooting gameplay to be more satisfying and skill-based than when played with a standard analog thumb stick. With the more flexible aiming, it became more realistic to switch to iron sights and squeeze off a quick headshot to take out that soldier just barely peeking over the barrier. We're looking forward to getting more time with this and other Wii games to get a better feel for this sort of unique FPS gameplay, which seems to approximate the feel of mouse aiming on the PC. Thay seemed to enjoy the Wii version aswell!!
raven_blade2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Wii makes FPS games more FUN! That seems to be the general consensus.
Nintendork Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Not more fun, but it ups the pace to that of a PC. Which means it is 'as fun' as the PC based FPS games.
Pyxis Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 The PS3 graphics look nice! Its a shame that I wont be able to play with such in game graphics for another 4 years...thanks Nintendo

Pyxis Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 The price of a Playstation 3 and a few games could pay for a trip to the other side of the world... Because I like Nintendo games and cant afford to buy more than 1 console due to other savings (Laptop and 6 month holiday in Malaysia by June), i am stuck with a console that has some of the ugliest looking games out there. Far Cry + GT + Call of Duty 3 + Tony Hawks = *pukes*

Nintendork Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 No, I'm forcing him to buy a Wii.. but nobody is forcing you to buy a shit game. All game ecosystems need bad games, to show publishers what we want. They waste a few million developping a shitty ass rushed launch game that sells bugger all. They learn their lesson. They'll make something better and take feedback from the dire reviews. All consoles have bad launches.. 6 months and we'll have a stack of 5 top notch games waiting to be finished next to our Wii.
Zechs Merquise Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 The price of a Playstation 3 and a few games could pay for a trip to the other side of the world... Far Cry + GT + Call of Duty 3 + Tony Hawks = *pukes* Haha, too true, Far Cry is especially disappointing as I really wanted it, but it looks luke utter turd. Plenty of people only have one console. I've been playing Nintendo since the NES, and I've only ever had one console from each generation. This whole Wii360 thing is good for people who can afford two consoles, but many can't and won't buy two. And why do people keep getting on their high horse about the gameplay over graphics? Certain people are talking as if good graphics and good gameplay are mutually exclusive. This is total nonsense. Developers don't go to the drawing board and and say 'Hey guys, now this new FPS, is it gonna look good, or play good?' Plenty of Nintendo games in the past have broken boundaries for both graphics and gameplay at the same time, Mario 64, Zelda: OOT, Metroid Prime and even back to games like Super Mario World, which although was a first generation SNES game, it was simply never graphically outclassed by any Megadrive game during the whole of the Megadrive's lifespan. Did this make Super Mario World a bad game, hell no, in fact it's the greatest 2D platform game ever (in my opinion). What's better, a great game with great graphics, or a great game with mediocre graphics? HINT: 99% of consumers will say the first.
DCK Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 HINT: 99% of consumers will say the first.Ah that's exactly, exactly where you are wrong. 99% of the gamers will say that, me included. Other people couldn't care less for the graphics of the game as long as it's fun. Photorealism even kills it for them because a game is a game and not some simulation - they're often frightened to play a game with good graphics. That's exactly the motivation behind Wii Tennis. It shows more insight than the standard 'better graphics is better game'. I can appreciate a good game no matter what the graphics look like. Now the graphics of the PS3 and 360 look like that Wii games don't become mediocre to me.
Pyxis Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I think that when you feel like ...this (what you are feeling now) for a console that is actually a replacement for the cube (rather than what came before it) and is £100 more expensive, something isnt quite right with the world..
AshMat Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 *whine, bitch, moan, bitch bitch, moan, whine, bitch, moan*
pedrocasilva Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 *whine, bitch, moan, bitch bitch, moan, whine, bitch, moan* Considering those symptoms... Is it a Emo? Is it a Girl? No! It's a Ninten-whiiner-(fan)boy. This phrase never gets old. ^_^
fukudasolokomalakikenanze Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Shut up and buy a PS3. To the guy complaining about Wii, buy a 360 instead if you don't have one already, DON'T SUPPORT SONY IN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. They'll have enough sales already with 100,000,000+ units that will sell within the next few years despite the initial high price point and will overtake PS2 as the most successful console of all time. Or better yet, don't spend money on gaming and use it to pay some bills, invest in shares, or buy essential food and beverage items in order to survive.

So you felt ripped-off too when you saw this for Cube launch: It's Cubivore. It's a frigging N64 game. Quit whining and don't buy the games you don't like. It's not as if the Wii can't do better than that Far Cry Wii shot.

Nintendork Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 I make up statistics to back up my own conclusions. 76% of you are arseholes. 24% of statistics are bullshit.
raven_blade2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Red Steel proves Wii has a lot more to offer. If Ubisoft can polish up Red Steel theres no reason they cant do the same for Far Cry as well. Give them some more time before launch.
