Duck Hunt (Wii)

Recommended Posts

Sorry that what I meant, that it has the analogue attachment on the gun, meaning you can walk around as well as light gun with it - some potential for some amazing action games with this!!

The problem with that gun though is you won't have the seperate motion sensor movement that the nun-chuck has, which looking at Red Steel and Metriod Prime 3 will become essential of rFPS games.

Also didn't IGN make a mock-up of that months ago?

Yeah, IGN's mock up, and the official protoype are very similar.

The game sounds fun, Point-Blank esque. Can't wait to shoot some birds....

I like the Wiigun, will most likely buy this game, online top scores that you can attempt to beat would be a nice addition and someone in the world would be declared the greatest wii duck hunter alive. But I'd like to be able to shoot the snickering dog this time...

i would think that the new resi evil would use this gun addon to their advantage. walking around and aiming like that. i think it would be cool.

..the only thing I can see really having problems with for a while is that I'm used to controlling movement with the analogue stick under my left thumb.. whereas I'd be holding that part of the gun with my right hand.. I'm sure I could adapt though..

It's not actually Duck Hunt;

http://uk.revolution.ign.com/articles/707/707330p1.html

While there are a ton of great games to check out on the showroom floor, Nintendo was a bit misleading when they claimed that "27 games will be playable on the showroom floor tomorrow." True, there are 27 demos running on the Wii hardware, but not all of them should really be considered true "games" yet. In fact, we were a bit let down to see that one of our most secretly anticipated games in the booth, Duck Hunt, was actually just a point-and-click demo with the simple name of "Shooting Demo."

The shooting demo is one of the first kiosks players will see on their tour of the booth, and it is set up to introduce basic Wii gameplay fundamentals. Two players can play at the same time, each controlling a stand-alone Wii-mote in the standard pointing position. Rather than playing like a traditional light gun game, players actually move around a small cursor on the screen. The controls aren't calibrated at a precise one-to-one ratio, so the cursors actually move faster than the players hands do. The control feels more like playing Point Blank with a controller than a true light gun conversion, but again, this is simply a introductory demo.

The demo is set up over an animating field that is very basic, teamed with an equally simple animating skybox as the background. Aside from the small environment, the game's HUD consists of two different score counters, one for each player. From there, a few different targets will appear on-screen, and both players will compete to see who can shoot them first. Targets consist of UFOs, ducks, clay pigeons and traditional circle target boards. Each target moves in a specific way, though the overall gameplay is the same in each scenario. Move the cursor to the desired place, fire, repeat. There was no indication that Duck Hunt will actually be a full title, nor any details on whether or not we'll see this as a light gun demo. In fact, no demo at the Nintendo booth was using the Wii-mote as a light gun yet, as even menu items are selected via cursor and not by firing directly at the screen.

We'll have more information on the Duck Hunt demo as it becomes available, and we'll be sure to keep our eyes open for light gun interaction on the showroom floor. Keep checking back at IGN-Wii for more details.

Hmmm,okay,afterreadingtheduck and the bad-mediocre Red Steel reports, it appears that light gun games arent possible, is this the case? It seems ridiculously easy to do do, but I'm hearing a lot of "have to point at sensor rather than screen" business. Is it that these games dont dont do it or that its simply not possible?

I'm getting a little nervous about a few reports of a few things. Overall im well excited and its the only console Im interested in, but theres a few worrying things!
