The characters move left then top right as more are unlocked and take the right place. So far the characters are in order (left to right) as the rubbish 35 character one. I'll still be happy if there's only around 35 characters total. EDIT: Just read Cube's prediction, that sounds about right tbh. Damn', this thread is moving way too fast, lol!
