Serebii Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Notice they're calling it New Series, not Series 5 or Series 1 or anything :p
Ashley Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 So then this series is series 31, series 5 and 'new series' essentially? The numbering is more complex than the plots
Serebii Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 I don't see why they're so reluctant to call it Series 5 The Eccleston Series was called Series 1, the Tennant ones are 2-4 and this is a direct continuation rather than an essential restart such as with Eccleston
Ashley Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Perhaps because they didn't call the specials season five so maybe they'd think some people would presume "season five" refers to last year's specials?
Serebii Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Still, it's less confusing than calling it Series 1 again. If they do in merchandise, say you ask your grandmother for Series 1 on DVD for Christmas...how the hell is she going to know which to get. Series 5 on the other hand, only one option
Ashley Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 "Can I have series 1 DVD please nan, the one with the weird looking bloke with hair, not the weird looking bloke without hair." Simple. Perhaps they should just name them [Actor's name] [series] e.g. Smith 1.
Karl619 Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 I just think whenever a new production team takes over the helm they like to make it clear that their new series is a different beast to the previous. Of course it's all cannon and is really series 31, everyone knows this, he IS the 11th doctor but by calling it "new series" it just drums up more interest really!
Dante Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Karen Gillan interview. As, I've said, is Amy, and she gets to wear all these small skirts, which I will admit was very cold, but also very cool. They originally wanted to put me in trousers, but I did say I'd like to wear a skirt because – you'll understand when you watch it. Update - Called Series 5 now
Serebii Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 That answers that then I'm gonna go to some Doctor Who forums and see how that fandom is over-reacting. I swear, it's almost as bad as the Pokémon fandom
Sec Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Update - Called Series 5 now Ok, i'm starting to see things, i clicked the link first and it had season 5 down, checked it again there says New series. Has to be called season 5 anyway, continuation of the same new storyline.
Serebii Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 I'm going to call it Series 31 New 5 Moffat 1 Smith 1 No confusion at all there
Serebii Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 If nobody had seen, it's been renewed for a sixth series, being Matt Smith's second series and another christmas special
flameboy Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 (edited) sigh seen reports that they are talking about possible romance storylines....why?! why? why?!!! Can't we just have an doctor who gets on with his assistant... Edited March 19, 2010 by flameboy
Cube Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Can't we just have an doctor who gets on with his assistant... Like Catherine Tate?

Mike Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 sigh seen reports that they are talking about possible romance storylines....why?! why? why?!!! Can't we just have an doctor who gets on with his assistant... Totally agree - the lack of romance was one of the things that made Donna my favourite of the new series assistants. New trailer looks good. I wonder if the quote above about Amy having to wear a skirt is anything to do with the Doctor dangling her out of the TARDIS at the beginning of the trailer. :p
Ashley Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 sigh seen reports that they are talking about possible romance storylines....why?! why? why?!!! Can't we just have an doctor who gets on with his assistant... Wasn't it more "there may be a romantic moment within the context of the storyline"? Like the fact the Doctor and Donna kissed, but it was because of sugar or something...

Sec Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Wasn't it more "there may be a romantic moment within the context of the storyline"? Like the fact the Doctor and Donna kissed, but it was because of sugar or something... ya that would be much better rather than the whole Martha Jones thing, the Rose thing was alright cos there was chemistry there but Martha as a assistant seemed flat to me, no balance
Retro_Link Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Just a reminded Matt Smiths on Jonathan Ross tonight.
Hamishmash Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 HARTNELL!! Awesome. He's like Jack Sparrow meets Jimmy Newtron.
