I don’t know what it was about the Gears series but I could never get into it. Furthest I made it was playing 4 but even that one I never finished.

Crazy to think that next year it is the 20th anniversary of the franchise. Doesn't seem like 2 minutes ago that I was trying (and failing) to get the Seriously achievement. With multiplayer confirmed, they better not put that back in on this version....

Never played a Gears game before, but sure, I'm game - it is only a couple days ahead of the Snake Eater remake, though, so I might wait until September, but man, August got pretty busy! I'm curious to see if E-Day lands day and date outside of Xbox now, given their accelerated change in approach since its announcement.

What's interesting here to me is that it's being positioned as a budget title. Oblivion Remastered was £49.99, Forza Horizon 5's standard edition was £54.99, and this being listed as $39.99 likely means it's somewhere between £34.99 and £39.99 (iirc FH5 is $59.99 on PS5 in the US), so Xbox are continuing to use the full spectrum of game pricing here – and I'll be honest, I'm struggling to see that PlayStation wouldn't be making some of these full price releases.

Wonder what this means for Halo, with its 25th anniversary being next year. The first game is on my pledge list for the year, but could I feasibly be playing it on my PS5 by year-end? Be a funny bit of irony that, wanting to hop into Xbox's defining title, committing it to my pledge list to do so, and finding myself finally doing so on a PlayStation.

Crazy how quickly things have changed. Curious to see what's up next, got to imagine something else gets announced during their Not-E3 showcase next month?
