Cube Posted January 16 Posted January 16 I figured a new Mario Kart is worthy of it's own discussion, from the horrible DK design to any other speculation. One notable thing is the very wide track and the 24 starting places that can be seen in the trailer.
Dufniall Posted January 16 Posted January 16 And someone on discord (Londragon, you guys still know him) counted 17 different racers in the trailer, so I'm guessing 24 player races is confirmed. And these characters can be found in the trailer: -Mario -Luigi -Bowser -Princess Peach -Princess Daisy -Rosalina -Donkey Kong 2023 -Yoshi -Toad -Waluigi -Toadette -Baby Mario -Baby Luigi -Pauline -King Boo 2

Cube Posted January 16 Author Posted January 16 There's something that looks like a glowing item box (or some kind of power up) at Yoshi's burger joint, and then a very long (and very straight and empty) bit of track that stretches for quite a while with nothing but a few boost pads (I'm dubious about how enjoyable the tracks will be to compensate for the number of players). So whatever power up there is, it looks like you'll have to go slightly out of the way and be the first one to do so to get a power up.
Ashley Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Maybe this is the secret to the Switch 2. The 2 means any sequels will have double the amount of characters. Pray for Sakurai. 4

Ashley Posted yesterday at 08:39 PM Posted yesterday at 08:39 PM What if the bigger roster/starting positions is an indication that we're getting 'Nintendo Kart' (with Danica Patrick)? I know a few non-Mario characters were in 8 but maybe now they're opening the flood gates and we all get to be an anime sword fighter!

You're not the first person to make that observation... but I actually don't think they will go for it. I think they'll stick with just the couple of guest DLC characters and that's it. The roster will be filled out with deep cuts and dodgy costumes (mostly stolen from Mario Kart Tour I reckon; get ready for Bus Driver Waluigi!). Mario Party Jamboree has 22 playable characters, and most of them are pretty series standard already (save for Ninji, who is a badass addition). Plenty left to scrape from the bottom of the barrel still!
