Mario Kart for Switch 2

I figured a new Mario Kart is worthy of it's own discussion, from the horrible DK design to any other speculation.

 

One notable thing is the very wide track and the 24 starting places that can be seen in the trailer.

And someone on discord (Londragon, you guys still know him) counted 17 different racers in the trailer, so I'm guessing 24 player races is confirmed. And these characters can be found in the trailer:

-Princess Peach
-Princess Daisy
-Rosalina
-Donkey Kong 2023
-Yoshi
-Toad
-Waluigi
-Toadette
-Baby Mario
-Baby Luigi

Nice to see you fixed that mistake.

I feel like the items as they are now would be far too chaotic to function well with double the racers. I wonder how that will be handled?

There's something that looks like a glowing item box (or some kind of power up) at Yoshi's burger joint, and then a very long (and very straight and empty) bit of track that stretches for quite a while with nothing but a few boost pads (I'm dubious about how enjoyable the tracks will be to compensate for the number of players).

So whatever power up there is, it looks like you'll have to go slightly out of the way and be the first one to do so to get a power up.

Maybe this is the secret to the Switch 2. The 2 means any sequels will have double the amount of characters.

The Battle Modes are going to be closer to long games of hide-and-seek or manhunt than they are actual battles, too  maybe Occasional Skirmish Mode would be more fitting?
