Oof, just noticed when I paused on the Collector's Edition screen (was curious about what was included for the previously leaked €229.99 price) – Early Access from June 24th? It calls out the Digital Deluxe Edition included in the CE (no physical edition at that price? That's wild!) so seemingly all Digital Deluxe Editions will be Early Access?

Seems strange for such a story heavy game, and it means getting it on a Tuesday instead of on the Thursday (rather than, say, a Friday instead of a Tuesday)...interesting ::shrug:

So, this has just been rated in South Korea:

Yeah, yeah, I know, sometimes we get these ratings a good while out...but the first Death Stranding had its rating deliberated in SK on 18/09/19, before the game released on 08/11/19. And Kojima and PlayStation are pretty consistent about their build-up to launch roadmaps.

So, potentially somewhere between May and July for this, I'd guess? That rumoured State of Play for next week (otherwise some time this month) seems the obvious place to drop this release date.

Which I imagine would mean Yōtei is indeed the September/October autumn title for them this year, which I thought would be the case just based on the visuals/vibe.

Super exciting stuff, you could be playing DS2 pretty soon @Hero-of-Time @drahkon!

I'm so close to being caught up on Kojima, I've been pretty purposeful in getting through the MGS games before wanting to get to Death Stranding...but yeah, there's little chance I realistically get to DS2 this year, what with MGSV and DS both being these massive games I'd rather take my time with than rush. Still, I'm so close to being caught up!

Ok so i'm pretty sure i've worked out f**k, a**h**e, s**t, and d**n, what what the h**l is h**sy**t supposed to be?

Of course!

Having it as one word threw me.

Haha yeah, the spacing between the asterisks makes it all look really odd, and then they go and decide that's one word

Collector's Edition trailer:

Still wild to me that it comes with a code for the Digital Deluxe Edition for the price it is

Not to even mention the early access weirdness

Spotify has added this to one of my playlists and this is probably the closest I'll come to playing the game.

Another day, another DualSense.

Pre-orders go up 22nd May at 10:00 local time. I'll pass purely on the grounds that I haven't played Death Stranding yet, but it seems a bit...basic, compared to some of the others? Like they just slapped some decals on a standard black DualSense ::shrug: here's hoping Yōtei's is much better!

Anyways, a bunch of gaming journalists spent 30 hours across 4 days at KojiPro playing DS2, and previews have just dropoed. General consensus is overwhelmingly positive, and what's more, some are saying that a number of MGS-like additions make it feel like an MGS6.

Per VGC's article, Kojima speaking to the future of Death Stranding [has concept for a third, but doesn't have plans to make it himself]:

Quote

"I had to figure out how to connect North America and Australia, and as a last resort, we created the 'Plate Gate.' If I use this Plate Gate concept, I could make endless sequels! I, of course, don't have any plans to do that, but I already have a concept for another sequel. I am not going to make it myself, but if I passed it on to someone else, they could probably make it."

And lastly, a PS Blog interview with the man himself

Phew. That was a lot. @Hero-of-Time @drahkon you guys were obviously big fans of the first, where do you stand with DS2? Are you picking it up Day 1?

Hearing the MGS stuff and being 6 weeks or so away from this is making me seriously ponder whether I should boot up Death Stranding now to prep for DS2's launch or if I just wait...

Loved the first one but I'm not paying £70 for the sequel. I do have a £40 Amazon voucher that I have kept from Christmas that I potentially could use on this but probably won't. I've actually toyed with the idea of playing through the PS5 version of the game. I've not played the original since it's release and there is another platinum to be earned. It will refresh my mind on the narrative and by the time I get through it, the sequel will probably have come down in price.

Super excited.
Day one is a possibility, but only if I can find a copy for 65€ max. I won't pay 80€ for games on launch day anymore. (there's also the added fact that I won't have a lot of time to play end of June and in July).

We'll see...

I still have to get the Platinum for the first game. I've played through the Director's Cut last year but after I finished the story I moved on. Maybe I'll make the Platinum a thing until the sequel can be found for cheaper :p
I might have to change my gaming pledge for 2025 yet again
