Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones has been added to the service!

Quote

The kingdom of Renais lies shattered by a sudden invasion! Use cunning strategy to guide the royal heirs Eirika and Ephraim on their twin quest to rebuild Renais. Take advantage of your strengths and exploit your enemy's weaknesses, but be careful: if a soldier perishes on the battlefield, they're gone forever!

In a world of dragons and magic, you must always be ready for battle. Take advantage of the terrain and the weapon in your hand, and attack enemies either from afar using magic or up close with your Sword. Each weapon has its own strength and weakness, so choose wisely when attacking your opponent, because you don't want to be caught off guard.

Build the perfect army. Do you want a pegasus rider or a wyvern rider? An assassin or a rogue? Upgrade your troops to different classes, each with their own skills and weapons, and save the land from the forces of darkness!

Given that it got a game on NSO and a soundtrack upload on the Nintendo Music app, I had to check – and the 20th, a few days ago, marked Fire Emblem's 35th anniversary, so that'll explain it!

I prefer this one to the previous GBA title.

Shut up! It's not because you can grind!

It totally is. Also, there's a lovely glitch that lets the Manakete of this game have infinite attacks.

I like this one because it feels like it does its own thing, in gameplay, writing, and aesthetics. And Wada Sachiko is the art director. It's a cool one to go through, and fairly short. Also an excellent choice to get into the series.

In many respects, Sacred Stones is both the first “modern” Fire Emblem and also a quasi callback to Gaiden/Shadows of Valentia.

I can totally see why it would appeal to modern casual fans more than FE7, what with its world map; branching classes and such.  I prefer FE7 overall, but I do really like Sacred Stones as well.

Started Sacred Stones, and in the first bloody chapter, Eirika already got beaned by an axe that only had a 25% chance to hit her! I'm already quoting this bloody comic!

And that's dodgy pre-Shadows of Valentia hit percentage where it's fudged in your favour, so you know I got unlucky!

EDIT: You see what I mean!?

He had full HP at the start of that Enemy Phase! He only had to dodge one attack!
This playthrough is cursed, I can feel it...

Ah....When the odds really ARE in your favour, but they still fail you :p Classic FE experience, teaching players about the true meaning of "probability".

My one and only attempt at a Sacred Stones Ironman ended exactly like that: with Eirika getting hit by 3 bandits, each with a hitrate lower than 65%.

That bloody movement platform puzzle in Talus Cave might as well be the death knell for any Four Swords Run!

Missing out on the Hero Key requirement by 23 Rupees is heartbreaking, though...

Yep... no NSO this week, I totally joined the chat, thought about joining late, and then fell asleep.

No worries though, as much as I like Mario Party 3, I feel like we've played it a decent amount.

I'll likely be up for finally buying Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV

...what is it with Nintendo and excessively long titles? ::shrug:

As that's a new Mario Party game to play at least, and now I don't feel that I missed out by not buying the Switch version, though... it looks like I'll be paying more for the Switch 2 version now, but hopefully it'll be worth it.

Anyway, from what I heard - briefly - it sounds like you had a blast on Mario Party 3, so that's cool. :peace:

Right, time to hopefully catch up on the rest of the sleep which I clearly need. :p

So yeah, 10pm rolled around when we finished our 20 turn "Save and quit once Sam joins for Perfect Dark" game, where @BowserBasher got totally robbed by CPU DK being an unexpected massive jerk. (I've never seen a CPU player gun for a person who wasn't in 1st place like that before!)

Cue me saying, "Wow, Sam never showed up", only for Simon to say "Hang on, he's in the chat!"
We tried to ask you why you never said anything, but silence.

My theory was that you butt-dialled us.

Haha, nope... not possible, I only use Discord on my PC, though I can see why that would have made more sense.

Nope, the truth of it is, I joined, and then fell asleep, and then woke up after 10pm, as I thought to myself...

"well, that happened"

Right, now time to hopefully actually go to sleep, for at least four hours, before I have to get up again. :peace:

I didn't even do anything to DK for him to do that. He just decided to be a jerk. when it happened the first time and he stole my star(?) was it. I was just dumbstruck. couldn't even get mad as I didn't know what just happened. Then he decided to battle me and take all my coins too. Stupid monkey!

Yeah, suddenly seeing @S.C.G in the VC as we were turning off was a funny moment when we were both trying to figure it out, as we didn't see you come on Switch at all.

Aww man, sounds like I missed out on a fun night.

Unfortunately my work schedule is utterly brutal this month (having to work quite a few extra shifts to pay for my Switch 2 stuff, amongst some other bits n’ bobs), so I won’t be free to join in for NSO Nights until June.

Spoiler

Had to just go gung-ho and send in everyone I could to finish off every monster and pray that Lyon there doesn't move, because ain't no-one surviving someone with a 54 attack stat with heightened crit chance.

Thankfully, he doesn't move! So Joshua gets to live!

Absolutely terrifying, though.

EDIT: Anyway, battered the final boss afterwards in 1 turn, and 3 attacks.
