Is that a thing that legit happened? How did he even..? How old was he?

Yup. The others struggled, as well.   It was on the highest speed but he still should have done better. I think he was around 10-12 years old.

Go watch the DKCR section. The amount of deaths in it were insane.

Balloon Fight was even worse lol.  People died within 2 seconds of starting Balloon Trip

That being said, there was some legit good play here too (especially in Smash and ARMS).  And not just amongst the newer games, some of the later players were actually pretty good in the Mario Party 2 minigames.  And the SMBDX Race was 100% pure unadulterated hype!

Tetris was a total disaster though and I loved it

SMBDX was fantastic. Great choice for 1 v 1

Overall a great event, very well run and good choices of games. The Treehouse folk were excellent.

Shame no reveal but I suspect we might see something at the Game Awards, Nintendo have had a big presence there last couple of years.

Oh and the Mario Odyssey segment alleged my fears that the game was too easy or short of true platforming challenge. Seeing people who weren't Treehouse speed through was great, the platforming in that cavern looked tough and the boss looked great fun.

Is it that surprising that younger people struggle with an old game they might not have played before?

When it comes to Tetris, yes. It's literally just fitting blocks together. It's not as if they were asked to play a Souls game.

Tetris GB is a very different beast to later Tetris games to be fair. Not being able to rotate when blocks hit the ground could throw off people who are accustomed to Modern Tetris.

That person just utterly failed though, hilarious!

Honestly, even if the kid was playing Tetris for the first time, I have to assume nobody told him what the goal of the game was. That predicament is just so bizarre, it's like you need to try to accomplish it.

And thanks for recommending me watch the DKCR segment, that was hilarious. Between the players who can't figure out a short jump, those who have to crash into every spike before learning how to duck (there's a sign before every ducking segment, how was everybody still crashing by the third or fourth one!?), and those who inexplicably stop ducking while the ceiling is still low, there was no fail they couldn't achieve.

That one I can understand. If you don't know what that game is, you'll fall to your death because you're unaware you need to tap a button to stay afloat. I noticed the one who failed first was WWE's Bayley (wasn't aware she had a connection with Nintendo), who fell immediately.
