If nothing else it at least sounds different in tone and presentation than what we've had up to this point in live-action, which I'm all for. I've only watched the first episode but I love the tone that has been set. It's so freaking refreshing to see greenery/bright and colourful sets in a Star Wars series. It's nice for them to get out of the desert for a change! 1
Hero-of-Time Posted May 4 Posted May 4 It's Star Wars day which means I need to carry on my tradition of earning Star Wars related platinums to get the May 4th timestamp next to them. Lego and Demolition I played earlier in the year but held off on the double platinum for today. I didn't plan on playing Jedi Power Battles but it went on sale over the weekend and so picked it up. May the 4th be with you. 1
Hero-of-Time Posted May 4 Posted May 4 I've spent all morning continuing to watch Skeleton Crew. With 2 episodes to go, I absolutely love it. Probably the most enjoyable SW thing I've watched since Rebels. It's a proper mash up of Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean and Goonies. There's a real sense of adventure about the show and while there are serious moments, I like how chilled out the main story is. I'm not sure if they used a lot of practical effects for the various creatures or if the CGI stuff just looks better, but either way, I've been very impressed with how they look. 1
Hero-of-Time Posted May 4 Posted May 4 All done. Fantastic series. Jude Law played his role perfectly and the kid actors were surprisingly good. My favourites were easily KB and Neel. Both of them were adorable and hilarious. My Star Wars day celebrations continued as I rolled straight into watching Tales of the Underworld. The Ventress episodes were interesting although a little confusing. I've not watched all of Clone Wars so I had no idea what had happened to her, which leads into how this story starts. The Cad Bane story was pretty good. From the limited time I've seen him, I've never really found him that compelling of a character and so it was nice to see a little backstory to him. 2
Hero-of-Time Posted May 4 Posted May 4 My Star Wars binge has come to an end. Sat and watched Rebuild the Galaxy which was absolutely hilarious. First episode was a little slow but once the alternate universe storyline kicks in it becomes an enjoyable ride. Some of the differences from the proper timeline had me in stitches... Spoiler Admiral Ackbar being the clone troopers The ewoks being bounty hunters Ponda Baba and his mate being friendly (had a proper good laugh at this) Luke being a cheating pod racer Darth Jar Jar Palpatine being a Jedi Greedo dating Leia Also, Jedi Bob needs to be a thing in the main franchise.
Happenstance Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Attempting to read Heir to the Empire again at the moment as I fell off pretty quickly the first time. Hoping I stick with it as I know how good the trilogy is supposed to be.

Happenstance Posted May 6 Posted May 6 I never really read many Star Wars novels. They seem to be similar to all the animated stuff where I know it’s very highly regarded but I can’t never get into it. Every few years I find myself trying again though.
Julius Posted May 7 Author Posted May 7 (edited) Just finished up watching this week's arc of Andor S2. Holy shit. I don't think I ever even dared to dream that Star Wars could become this. The slower buildup of the earlier parts of the season has once again paid off, and again, in troves. If they stick the landing next week, Andor is going to down as one of the modern greats of television; if they stick the landing next week, we're rightly going to be having discussions about where this belongs at the top of the pile of Star Wars media; and, if they stick the landing next week, to clarify what I mean by that: I mean that it's either this or Empire. I know there are some here who have tried the first arc of S1 and bounced off it. I get it. It's slow, but it is meaningful – this show isn't action-driven, or event-driven, it is character-driven. That's why and how the slow burn is justified. This is hands-down the best written that Star Wars has ever been. I don't see how you can't get to the end of the second arc of S1 (Episode 6) and not be hooked; and the fact of the matter is, S1 only gets stronger from there. So just watch it all. Genuinely, if you've ever valued any of my opinions that I've ever shared on here about anything, I implore you that you watch Andor and just stick with it. This is the best that Disney+ has ever had to offer. It's already, debatably, one of the best that Star Wars has ever had to offer. But where exactly I stand on that won't be decided until next week. bob Posted May 9 Posted May 9 My son chose to watch some animated Disney+ Star Wars thing this morning. I have no idea what it was, but it had some childlike Jedi in it - it looked like Star Wars Kids or something. I'm kind of hoping he gets hooked on Star Wars because there's loads of branded shit that you can buy (and it's a lot easier to find a 'Star Wars' cup than it is to find a 'Pupstruction' cup).
Cube Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Young Jedi Adventures seemed like a decent young kids show when I threw it on for Ollie (although he doesn't watch much TV at all at the moment, although we buy lots of Bluey stuff because we like it).
Julius Posted yesterday at 03:34 AM Author Posted yesterday at 03:34 AM And just like that, Andor is over. This is the best television and the best Star Wars I've watched in a long, long time. I'll need a rewatch to cement where I rank it amongst the all-time greats of Star Wars stories, but I'll seriously struggle to trust the opinion of anyone who thinks it isn't up there. All I'll say is...
