Retro_Link Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 (edited) I was trying to think what the start-up screen for the Wii was, and when I Youtube'd it, I found the reason I couldn't, was because there wasn't one. I guess I had assumed it could/should have been this... I think we all remember the Gamecube fondly for it's jolly intro jingle. I enjoy the orchestral sound I get when I boot up the PS3... And whilst the N64 didn't have one specifically, each game would often have it's own themed N64 logo. I remember OOT's classy, silent, colourful spinning logo, Banjo Kazooie's dragonfly, And Diddy flying around in his plane. Everyone wants to get straight into their online competitive games these days; but the intro jingle gives us that 5 seconds of fun that reminds us we're gaming - it puts a smile on our face, setting us up for a hobby to enjoy. Should the intro jingle return? or would the majority of gamers these days spend that intro screen shouting "come ooooon..." at their TV? Not gonna lie, I want that Will Smith collaboration, ala @21secs :p Edited October 24, 2016 by Retro_Link
Jimbob Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 I think it should return, but something short like Microsoft have with the Xbox One and Sony have with the PS4. Something short, but still quite cheerful to hear as the console begins.

Ronnie Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 I didn't even realise the PS4 had an intro screen??
Retro_Link Posted October 24, 2016 Author Posted October 24, 2016 I didn't even realise the PS4 had an intro screen??Yeah I wouldn't consider it to have one either - although I do just generally like the way you enter into it, via the profile and the zoom in. Bring it back.
nekunando Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 My all time favorite startup screen is: The PS1 startup is amazing The feelings and memories it provides when hearing it today means I will always remember it fondly I think all the Nintendo Switch needs to do is have that clicking sound with the logo that we saw repeatedly duting the reveal trailer
somme Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 My PS4 is normally in rest mode, rather than completely off, and that's just the way I like it. Straight back into whatever I was doing. So no, I'd rather not have a start-up screen. Might be nice the first dozen times but I'd rather be playing games or watching Netflix than watching a start-up screen.
Ike Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 I didn't even realise the PS4 had an intro screen?? I thought it was the seizure warning screen.
Serebii Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Huh? I see one when I boot my Wii U up. It's plain but it's there

Dcubed Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 I could see them using that logo animation that they use in the teaser trailer for the boot up. Short and sweet, but dat satisfying click!

My all time favorite startup screen is: I like how the 3DS theme incudes this along with the fan noise and the disk startup grinding. I heard the Gameboy chime recently which made me realise I kinda missed it.
Dcubed Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 I like how the 3DS theme incudes this along with the fan noise and the disk startup grinding. Yeah, I cracked up when I heard that. Brilliant touch The 64DD actually had a really nice bootup sequence as well! Stylish and yet very playful! Nice.
