I figured this needs more attention as it's getting ignored in the PlayStation 4 thread :D

In Pyre, you lead a band of exiles through an ancient competition spread across a vast, mystical purgatory.

Pyre once again showcases our team's commitment to rich atmospheric presentation and storytelling, along with a distinctive gameplay blend that combines expressive decision-making on the world map with fast, action-packed confrontations against rival groups of exiles whose own freedom is at stake. We want to create a large cast of characters you can grow close to as you travel together across a strange and wondrous land.

Due in 2017 on PS4 and PC.

I can't wait : peace:

I have no idea what you do in this game, but it looks beautiful (like their previous games) and again the music sounds amazing. I still regularly listen to the soundtracks of both Bastion and Transistor. :)

Interested to see more about this game, though indeed 2017 is still a long way to go! But yeah, their art style is just amazing, makes me wish I could create stuff like that!

I wanna get excited but that 2017 release date killed my hype. :D

I still need to get around to playing Transistor.

I really liked Transistor. It was just...nice. A nice neo-noir style setting, a beautiful soundtrack and just a fun experience. It's not a huge game at all, but it's sweet whilst it lasts. I love the soundtrack, especially the ending/credits tune. So many feels.

Will definitely get this. Yeah, 2017 sounds a long way off but these things quickly creep up on you.

Gave you a thanks / thumbs up when summed up my feelings about hype. Had to remove it when I say you hadn't played transistor. For Shame! :shakehead

FYI the soundtrack is available on Spotify and makes great alternative music to play games with the app on PS4.

I already use and abuse Spotify. :D I've listened to the soundtrack on there about a billion times now.

Paper Boats is such a hnnnnnngg tune. I have something in my eye, brah.

Can't wait for this. I loved Bastion and I finally played through Transistor at the start of the year and fell in love with that, as well. Supergiant can have my money.

And mine, as well. Bastion and Transistor are two of my all time favourites. :)

Looking forward to this.

Getting great reviews.

Eurogamer says: "Dazzling and mysterious, this ambitious party-based RPG is a masterpiece. "

(Edit: Just read the review...it's horrible...don't waste your time; it contains almost no information; still, lots of other good reviews out there)

Fuck...should've pre-ordered it while it was discounted...

Edit: Nevermind, it's still discounted. Might buy it, have to check my finances first, though.

Edit²: Bought it

Edit³: Played for a bit. The Rites are already very fun, even though they are kind of basic (for now, obviously; haven't made a lot of progress). But I've got a glimpse of skills and moves after my second Rite. I think it's going to be more complex soon.

Pyre has the most creative core gameplay I've seen in years. The Rites are absolutely incredible. Intense, tactical, wonderful, beautiful and most importantly: fun!

Supergiant Games took a risk: Gamble everything on the core gameplay. Everything else is basically just clicking through texts and making a couple of decisions. The risk paid off. It works.

Sometime's I do wish to be able to explore the world differently but the writing is astounding and the art style is so wonderfully executed that this wish quickly fades into stardust.

And the music, oooohhhh the music. Bastion and Transistor have a stellar soundtrack but Pyre's is...

I'm in love. I hope the album will be on Spotify soon.

Pyre's soundtrack is better than Transistor's?

In my opinion it is (from what I've heard so far from Pyre).

Did you buy the game, yet? :p

I'll definitely get it at some point, but I've got quite a bit of work to do. I'm trying to be good and am restricting my gaming time to the evening, which is mostly taken up by Overwatch.

It'll go on the list. I adored Transistor, so will 100% play this. Just maybe not for a while.

It's up on YouTube.

Here are my favourites so far:

So far it has been a little on the easy side.

Haven't lost a rite, yet. But I also haven't done many, so hopefully it'll get more difficult soon. :)  I might increase the difficulty if it doesn't.

It's still very fun. They need to add online multiplayer with matchmaking :D

I also pre-ordered this last-minute, and have downloaded it yesterday. Did it mostly for support, as I wasn't aware actually what the "battle system" was like.. Haha. It's strange.. But fun. It's more like an arcade sports game than a battle system. I've only played for a bit. The first few battles are easy, but I feel like I'm still playing the tutorial part of the game (just 2 hours in).. I can imagine this getting hard when you actually have to switch between characters. It seems so far like a "simple to learn, hard to master" kind of thing. Anyway, I don't have to mention the visuals are gorgeous, and god, the music.. The game is an atmosphere explosion. An amazing world where you want to jump through your screen to enter it yourself.

You guys get much further with this?

I'm enjoying it but probably not to the level of your post @Drahkon - I think for me the issue is that the rites are great but they're over in about a minute or two, and though I sort of like characters and the story, I feel like you spend way too long on that in comparison to being in the games themselves. I'm currently finding all the dialogue and stuff a bit tooo abstract at times. The whole game is reeally similar to The Banner Saga in the setup, art style, but that game seems more grounded, the choices matter more, and the balance between the two elements of the game (battles and travelling) is way more even.

Still, the matches themselves are great fun. Fantastic idea to combine rpg with a sports game. Would like to see more of that in the industry! As you say, online pvp would be great! My only issue in the games is finding it a bit too easy to just run round via the corners and score, with a couple of speed boost items or whatever.
