In case you haven't been following it, there's currently a feature on the main site detailing some of my most treasured Christmas memories from over the years, focusing on some of the most influential games of my childhood that were delivered by Santa :hehe:

The feature will be running all the way up until Christmas Eve so be sure to check out each daily update until then : peace:

Nice, things have changed now as I just buy so many games throughout the year. But christmas was the time as a kid to play games. I have memories of finishing donkey kong country before xmas by opening it when my mum and dad went out, gettgint he SNES and playing F Zero obsessively, my first console for myself (Spectrum and NES were family) in the gameboy and playing turtles and tetris! Most recently I'd say Metroid Prime on the gamecube was the last game I got for Christmas, last big game (not I just get games I can wait for). Playing that over christmas was glorious!!

I hated Timesplitters 2. It was a game that just felt soulless and...just not that exciting to play. It's a shame, because it seemed to have the right components for success. The map maker was amazing. But, I didn't like the weapons in the game and the shooting didn't feel satisfying at all.

Probably my biggest disappointment on the GameCube. I spent more time creating maps and trying different things than I did on the actual gameplay, which was average, I thought.

The only people who seem to love the game are Nintendo fans, possibly because the GameCube wasn't that amazing for shooters from what I remember. (going down the route of Metroid Prime being more adventure than shooter) Xbox fans had Halo, so they took that and never looked back.

Like I said in my piece, I certainly enjoyed TimeSplitters 2 when it came out but time hasn't been particularly kind to it. I picked up Future Perfect a few years ago and barely touched it as I just wasn't feeling the vibe. I sold it again soon after for some Wii Points

Having said that, doing this feature for the site has made me want to revisit some of these games again and I'd consider going through the story portion of TimeSplitters 2 again to see exactly how I feel about it now!

Most of the praise I heard from the game was from PS2 fans and magazines. It's also a personal favourite of mine, since I tend to dislike/hate/not care about FPSes in general, but this one was pretty darn fun, both single-player and multiplayer.

If you ask me, the soulless one was Halo, that one was boring, even by FPS standards.

Get. The fuck. Out. Timesplitters was amazing.

You're on my naughty list.

Come at me, bro. :heh:

The game blew. Biggest disappointment for me in the GameCube era. But then, I didn't play Starfox Adventures.

I can't imagine it's held up well. I didn't enjoy the mechanics of it at the time and can only imagine it being even more outdated now.

Both games blew. I, at least, respected both games for what they tried to do. Halo's maps were a bit boring and far too large for 2/3 player multiplayer. I never bothered playing the second game.

Nintendoland: Fun whilst it lasted. The Animal Crossing and Luigi's Mansion games are great, but the rest are forgettable. One of these games that you play when your mate is over for about an hour before you order a pizza and watch a film afterwards.
