Figured I would start a thread for this, seeing as we ain't got one yet. The game is out on Friday and I want someplace to post my thoughts and choices once it arrives.

The reviews have been a bit of a mixed bag, with some giving it 6/10, yet others giving it 9/10. I guess it's very much like Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls in that it is gonna split the audience.

Length wise, the game is around 9 hours long for a first run. Of course multiple playthroughs will be required, if you are looking to save everyone, that is.

So, who else is picking this game up on Friday?

Every online store I've checked has it for release tomorrow? If that's the case, I will be picking it up tomorrow at the mall.

Good stuff. I look forward to comparing who we saved and who we let die.

Pleasantly surprised by the range of reviews. I would pick this up ASAP but I want to save it for halloween. I hope it does well, it seems to justify it.

I like it very much so far. Think I'm nearing the end of my first playthrough, on chapter 9. The choices and conquences feel real, the cast is excellent, so is the graphic and immersion. Scared the shit of me a few times :p. There's one or two things I want to comment on but it would spoil and I might be proven wrong.

For my first playthrough I try to ease tension within the group as much as possible so they don't go in each other throat at the end game. Varied success there.

Will definitely get this when I have a bit moar money. I've spent faaaar, far too much lately...I think my bank will self destruct if I buy any more things.

Dat feel when no three money.

Ok, I didn't know this but if you have the PS4 camera the game informs it when a jump scare is approaching, turns the camera on and then records your reaction and shows you via pic in pic!

Freaking amazing.

I haven't seen the list, since every trophy is a secret trophy, but I think it's very straightforward. You probably have to do and say certain things to get to certain events and options. I'd be surprised if it's any harder than Beyond Two Souls. I got 6 of 19 on my first run. The length is probably the hardest part.

Finished the game this morning. Seriously don't invite me to a cabin in the woods...

Ashley died when I chose to abondon the group, and Chris, to find out what the voice was. Pretty gruesome scene.

Josh died when Beth appeared, and I appearently failed to figure out in time, even though the game showed it to me. I didn't see any button prompt or anything so I'm not sure what happened. I wonder if it wouldn't have happened if Ashley hadn't opened the hatch and released the wigilo.

Jess died shortly after I Matt found her. Chose to run instead of hiding which was a dumb move since the wigilos respond to sound.

Mike and Emily died when, as Sam, decided to run for the lamp instead of helping Mike. My reasoning was that it was too dangerous to run straight at the wigilio, would probably kill Sam I thought. I had seen both totems that foresaw Mike and Emily dying this way but had forgotten about them.

Saved Matt by staying still so the wigilo didn't hear him and Chris because Ashley liked him enough to trust him to let him through the door.

I wonder if Sam always survives?

Played the first two chapters in my second playthrough. I will try make different choices as long as it doesn't lead anyone's death down the road. Going to see if I can save them all. In my third I will do the opposite and then the fourth I might use a guide for remaining trophies if I believe I have exhausted all options.

I should be getting this on Tuesday or Wednesday. Can't wait.

@Hero\-of\-Time How hard is the Platinum looking?

With story driven games I tend not to check the trophies until I've done a first run through. I don't want anything spoiled for me. I assume it's like Heavy Rain and Beyond in that it will take a few play throughs to nab them all.

Just played through the prologue. Love the opening song.

Man, the jump scares in this have me a nervous wreck! I'm constantly on edge and don't want to turn around corners. :D

They've done a fantastic job of recreating the atmosphere, dialogue and characters that you tend to see in teen slasher movies. I've already got my favourite characters and ones that I'll have no issue with letting bite the dust.

@Tales i've finished.

I was doing great until chapter 10. Everyone was alive and well, although I was dubious is Jess had made it or not. Sadly Josh died by his sisters hands ( didn't find the note ) and Ashley, Mike and Emily died because, like you, I went for the switch ASAP and ended up burning them all.

Luckily I just had to reload the final chapter, grab the note and then wait until everyone was out. This allowed me to finish the game with everyone saved.

Absolutely amazing experience. Possibly the best gaming experience I have had all year. I'm not one for watching horror movies and this game shows exactly why that is. The amount of times I jumped out of my skin was unreal.

I will say, it's not just the jump scares but the whole mood that has been created within the game. The sound effects and music really create an unsettling feeling.

The collectibles that are in the game remind me of the old Resident games. They give you the backstory to certain things which can cause you to feel uneasy as you read them.

There's loads more I would love to discuss but obviously can't due to spoilers. All I can say is that I HIGHLY recommend the game and I know there are a few people on here who will adore this experience.

In related news, I told my nephew how good it was and he went and bought it this morning. He has been playing it all day as he can't put it down. I've been in party chat with him and it's been hilarious hearing him screaming down the mic due to the scares. He has allow allowed a mate to watch it via Share Play, so they have both been making the decisions. :D

Possibly my favourite PS4 exclusive. Supermassive, I salute you.

Fuck sake, @Hero\-of\-Time. I can't afford any more games right now.

So, this game is better than anyone thought it would be? I put it down as "looks great, will probably be shit but maybe fun to play alongside somebody else." I didn't think this would legitimately end up good.

Honestly, mate, it's awesome. At least I think it is. If you like the choice based, story driven stuff that Telltale Games makes then you should enjoy this.

My nephew just finished it and we spent half an hour just discussing the story and the choices we made. Very interesting to see what we done different. I tried my best to save everyone, he just killed off those he didn't like as soon as possible. :D

I have mine on order from Amazon - was meant to come yesterday but they've delayed it til Wednesday, which is odd. I would re-purchase elsewhere but it might force me to do some work in the mean time.

Definitely looking forward to it though!

I just watched a review of it last night and it looks like exactly the sort of game my wife would enjoy watching me play through, much like the experience we had playing The Last of Us on PS3 together. Having her react beside me definitely enhanced the enjoyment I had with that particular game.

It's games like this that make me consider swapping the PS3 for a PS4 as most of the games I like on PS3 have been re-released anyway and it would be nice to try out the latest football games, especially online with some of you guys

Mine actually arrived today. I played through it in almost one sitting, took me about 8-9 hours in total.

Much of it felt better than most modern horror films, although I was never very scared - even the jump scares failed to make me jump but I enjoyed it nonetheless. It looks really, really good and I've never enjoyed walking around pointing a torch quite so much as in this game. :D

I loved the nods to the genre including:

the Saw-esque torture-porn moments. Although the whole Wendigo thing didn't really float my boat. They're really over used.

My survivors were:

Sam, Ashley, Emily, and Chris.

I seen you on this yesterday and was looking forward to reading what you thought of it.

You must have nerves of steel to not jump at some of the stuff that was happening in the game! :D

I quite liked the Wendigo thing. I thought it was a nice twist to the story. Of course I love Supernatural so this kind of thing floats my boat.

How did Mike die? He was a character I hated at the start but then I eventually grew to like him. I'm not sure whether this was because of the choices I made for him or whether I just judged him too harshly at the start.

I hated Emily at the start and did at the finish. She was such an utter bitch. My nephew blew her head off as soon as he got the chance. He didn't regret a thing. :D

Not sure how Mike can die if Ashley and Emily survived. As far as I know only Chris bails early at the final showdown. Mike, Emily and Ashley stays.

Didn't like the twist of wendigos when I first learned about them, but after 3 and half playthrough I actually like them. Or scared of them rather. That final showdown with the wendigo hanging from the chandelier and the music...every atom in my body froze then.

Almost finished with my third full playthrough and should have the platinum then. It's been an awesome experience. Really makes me excited for what Quantum Break's first PS4 game will be like.

Haha I most certainly do not have nerves of steel but I guess after Alien: Isolation I've been somewhat hardened; except to A:I which still terrifies me, even when I'm watching someone else play.

And with regards to my character death:

Mike died right at the last minute when the house blew up. I told Sam to run and turn on the light before he managed to get out. I was sad as he was alright.

Picked this up yesterday. Not had a chance to play it yet with MGSV happening but I thnk I'll save it to play with friends on the weekend.

Good man! I look forward to reading your thoughts on the game. Hopefully I haven't hyped it up too much. :D

Depending on how much of MGSV I get through during the week, I may have another run through of this game over the weekend. I need to get everyone killed for a trophy and still find all the collectables.
