Emerald Emblem
Disappointing result, if we could only have kept it 1-0 we'd be confident after how well we played with 11 men. Hard to believe how similar our and Man City's defeats were, both went down to 10 men and lost a late goal which you'd think knocks us out. I liked Sanogo's performance tonight, he's got a great future when he gets it together. Edited February 19, 2014 by Emerald Emblem
MadDog
Bayern had 88% possession and completed 508 passes in the 2nd half alone. Madness.
Ramar
Beaten by the better side. Sending off killed our chances really. It was a brave performance but we came up short. Highly unlikely we'll progress now which means I hope Wenger takes the FA Cup a bit more seriously.
dazzybee
Another great performance by ozil... Bargain at 42m... Is it true he complete 18 passes from 26 attempted? Wish the game was closer as the return is the game before spurs v goons... Want them fighting and believing they can get something but the ties pretty much dead. Wish the game was closer as the return is the game before spurs v goons... Want them fighting and believing they can get something but the ties pretty much dead. He didn't have a good game but looking at the stats on the Champions League website. Arsenal had a total of 300 passes so Ozil had 9% of Arsenal's passes. His pass completion was 69% (from your numbers above) compared to 62% for Arsenal as a whole. Obviously the stats aren't great at all but let's not pick one player out to make him look bad when the team were collectively outplayed and a man down. dazzybee
Enjoy Dnipro tomorrow night.. I will, can't wait actually, really enjoy these matches. Let our squad players get some games, see some kids, hopefully get a positive result. All good.
-Dem0-
Game plan was tossed out the window last night. First Gibbs' injury, then the ref killed the game with the red card and ruined Santi's night with the forced substitution. Didn't feel nervous at all prior to the game, I knew that Arsenal can get at them and score. Was so frustrating. Seems highly unlikely that Arsenal will get through but they're not out of the tie yet. The only plus is that instead of concededing 3 away goals last night it was 2. Time to focus on the BPL now. Sunderland at home next.

Considering that's his main skill he didn't even get the mean, plus that includes players who shouldn't normally get loads of passes. People can dress it up all they want, but the guy doesn't close to 42m. How Arsenal fans can be happy with that is unbelievable. He's supposed to be the big SUPERSTAR for them! At least we're unhappy with our big money singing and benched him. And he has a similar, if not more productive output than Ozil!
drahkon
Arsenal have been the better team during the first 25 minutes and thanks to Neuer we didn't concede two goals. Referee made the right call with the two penalties. The red card, however...disputable. Not sure Robben would've gotten the ball if he went through. Then it was 'easy' for us with one more man on the field. We took advantage of that and played our game. Kroos with an amazing goal and Lahm with a great assist for Müller. We have good chances to reach the quarterfinals but if we play like we did in the first minutes yesterday it may well be a close one...
-Dem0-
Considering that this is his first season in a new Country, a new culture, a new League and a new team I think that's he's okay overall. Not to forget that he's used to having 1-2 week winter breaks in La Liga where the pace is already a lot slower and there are more stoppages in play thanks to the "gamesmanship" attitude over there. Also the BPL is the most competitive league without a doubt, and this season is another great example of that. I won't lie, the past few months his performances have been quite poor overall, but what people seem to forget is that Mesut Ozil is at his best when his attacking team-mates are making dangerous runs. He seemingly hit the ground running earlier in the season no thanks to players like Ramsey & Walcott constantly making runs. Even if he didn't pass to them, their runs made space for others like Wilshere & Giroud (who scored most of his goals during that time as well) who would benefit too. At Madrid he had Ronaldo, Benzema & Di Maria making runs around him which almost always resulted in a goal. He's starting to pick up a bit now. The first 15/20 minutes against Bayern last night. Liverpool in the FA Cup and Man Utd before that. However, if you noticed that also tied in with Chamberlain's return from injury. Ozil needs these players around him. I'm confident that he'll have a much better second season without question. The man is undoubtedly world-class.
Ramar
Kroos with an amazing goal and Lahm with a great assist for Müller. No keeper in the world was saving that shot from Kroos. My seat is in the upper tier behind that goal. I couldn't even be angry at it, just turned to my brother and said "that's a brilliant goal". I will, can't wait actually, really enjoy these matches. Let our squad players get some games, see some kids, hopefully get a positive result. All good. Small time. #Spursday

First Gibbs' injury, then the ref killed the game with the red card and ruined Santi's night with the forced substitution. I don't understand why people always say the ref has ruined the game or killed the game. It's not his job to make the game enjoyable, it's his job to enforce the rules. The keeper was the last man back and prevented a goal scoring opportunity (perhaps dubious) and the rules state he should be sent off.
Jon
I have no problem with the sending off, I have a problem with the rule in the first place. I see Chezzers might face action for his offensive gesture when he went off. I wonder what'll be done to Robben then for gobbing on Sagna. He's a fucking scumbag, there's not a player I detest more in football than him, even the way he runs is fucking annoying.
dazzybee
Small time. #Spursday We have a chance of winning a trophy. Something you have none of for 9 years running! What kind of attitude is it to dismiss other tournaments anyway! I don't care, I can't wait for tonight!! Would I prefer to be in the champions league? Obviously, but primarily because of the impact on signings it has. Really, what's better - arsenal having absolutely no chance on earth in winning the champions league, or a team one of the favourites to win the euopa?! I won't lie, the past few months his performances have been quite poor overall, but what people seem to forget is that Mesut Ozil is at his best when his attacking team-mates are making dangerous runs. He's obviously NOT world class if he needs other players to help him, world class players don't need this - bale, ronaldo, ibra, messi don't need this. He's not world class. If you're happy with your 42million superstar fine. But he's clearly been a huge disappointment for arsenal and the league. Maybe he'll be there next year after settling in! Also with this call for only giving the penalty and not sending off... how come no one has chatted about the fact that defenders will be pulling players down ALL THE TIME if they know they won't get sent off. Here's an interesting article - http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2914/champions-league/2014/02/19/4628968/will-the-real-mesut-ozil-please-stand-up Ozil - 31 games - 5 goals, 10 assists Soldado - 23 games - 10 goals - 4 assists Hmmm...... What kind of attitude is it to dismiss other tournaments anyway! Chances? We've had plenty. Three finals and two decent league runs. Bollocksed them all up. Weren't you suppose to win the league this year? I don't care, I can't wait for tonight!! Would I prefer to be in the champions league? Obviously, but primarily because of the impact on signings it has. Really, what's better - arsenal having absolutely no chance on earth in winning the champions league, or a team one of the favourites to win the euopa?! Got to be in it, to win it. Whilst we're in the competition there's a chance. Just so you're aware, we weren't knocked out last night. He's obviously NOT world class if he needs other players to help him, world class players don't need this - bale, ronaldo, ibra, messi don't need this. He's not world class. This is just plain wrong. Football is a team sport. Even four time Ballon d'Or winner Messi can't win Argentina a World Cup on his own. Also with this call for only giving the penalty and not sending off... how come no one has chatted about the fact that defenders will be pulling players down ALL THE TIME if they know they won't get sent off. Obviously it's not a simple matter. The German Association called for FIFA to review the law back in 2011. And I'm sure one of the recent president candidates said he'd like the law discussed further if he was made president. I think there's a clear difference between a goalkeeper and defender committing the foul. There's a definite grey area and complexity to the whole situation. That's a terrible article purely hanging on the coat tails of Mourinho's comments. And then I see we're incorrectly comparing a spot kick specialist with a number 10. Premier League stats. Solpeno - App 21, 5 goals, 4 assists (4 Penalties!!!) Ozil - App 21, 4 goals, 8 assists (lol, can't score a pen!!) Hmm indeed.

MadDog
I find it crazy that a 25 year old is being called a waste of money after a bad run of games. Like I've said before, I don't think there's a number 10 as good as him on the planet. I despise the way so many fans write off proven players so quickly. He'll be back. Wii
Did seem harsh on Arsenal. It's just so costly and ruins a good game. Penalty? Yes. Robben made the most of it for sure. It was a legitimate effort but the keeper got it wrong. Would Robben have scored? Maybe, not definite. The sanctions are too much. A penalty, a man down, sub keeper, he's suspended for the return leg as well. There's debate of maybe revisiting what happens in situations like this. De Michelis(spelling) can have no complaint though and said so himself today. Edit: Glass houses and throwing stones springs to mind. Dnipro 1 Spurs 0. Substitute Soldado for Ozil as well. Shocking misses tonight. Good luck Dazzy, you're going to get some stick now. Edited February 20, 2014 by Wii

Think you just proved my point there dazzy ol'boy. No I haven't at all... Are you pissed?! Bale was best player in the league, one of the best players in the world last year, now the most expensive player in football history. He is WORLD CLASS and carried spurs according to many... This is what World Class players do. And what Ozil doesn't do! I proved my point completely and the fact you agreed shows you think you were talking shit when you said world class players need to be in a team to fulfil their potential. Edit: Glass houses and throwing stones springs to mind. Dnipro 1 Spurs 0. Substitute Soldado for Ozil as well. Shocking misses tonight. Good luck Dazzy, you're going to get some stick now. Doubt it. Thing is, Soldado didn't cost 42m, we're not absolutely deluded and still think he's world class. We ACCEPT he's been disjointing this season and have benched him. HUGE difference in mind sets I find it crazy that a 25 year old is being called a waste of money after a bad run of games. Like I've said before, I don't think there's a number 10 as good as him on the planet. I despise the way so many fans write off proven players so quickly. He'll be back. Best number 10 on the planet - what an absolute joke! Thats why Madrid sold him, that's why mourinho didn't want to sign him! That's why he's playing so well and influential for Arsenal. The guy has a lot of ability, but he's far from world class and light years away from best number 10 on the planet! And currently he is a waste of money, you can only judge what you see, over half a season in and he's been a massive disappointment, I'd surprised Arsenal fans aren't more critical... though again, Twitter is full of thousands of them. How come you don't DESPISE the way people rip into Soldado, within a couple of months of coming when his strike rate was 1in 2 and people slagged him off. But that's okay...?! You comeback with, Ozil isn't world class. World class players do it on their own. I said. World Class players can't win it on their own it's a team game. You said Bale was World Class and carried Spurs. I agreed that he carried you, and thus you proved my point. I never once used the words fulfil or potential. Bale failed to carry your lot to the Champions League places, proving, one player can't do it on their own.
