H@gi Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Hi! I've made a game called "project ninja". It's an action/platform game. It's made on game maker. Here are some screenshots: village forest Here is the download link:download Tell me what you think!
Letty Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 The first image is expired. The second one looks pretty good however. Well, better than anything I could make anyway. I'm not going to download it, but good luck. And you sould turn it into a money making scheme.
Adrian DX Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Hahaha funny game... The bosses were a bit buggy though.. I mean.. all you have to do is stand still and press d to defeat them without taking any damage (the last boss might get 2 hits on you but it won't kill you). Bit short though. Overall - 6/10
Letty Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Ok, I played it. I found it suprisingly amusing! The music is great. And yes, the bosses are quite easy, but still... Well done.
Sarka Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I only played a little, I'll play more tonight, but it seems pretty Quirky and nice. I want to make a game, but I decided to learn C++ instead... I'll have a game done in a few years, check back then!
AshMat Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Dumb question probabl, whats C++ ?? Also, interesting game, not time to play through it all yet but the first boss was rather easy..
Sarka Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Dumb question probabl, whats C++ ?? It's the programming language that most games are made of. I believe all games on consoles are made by it, and then you use a graphics package (say SDL) to program the graphics. It's hard to take it all in though, and hard to make a nice graphics game, so most poeple use gamemaker or somehting similar.

I'd rather reccomend you trying to make your game in Java (still a bit advanced) or GameMaker (Like riding a bike).

Shorty Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 A surprisingly fun game, and very well made! I think you could really improve the overall experience with some simple cosmetic changes, lusher scenery, improved spelling/punctuation (questions deserve question marks!) and perhaps a sideways facing character for running left and right. But although there's room for simple improvements, I still think its great work.
AshMat Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Ok i played on from where i left and finished it. i demand a sequel!!1

Destiny Blade Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 that character looks like the guy out of tenchu wrath of heaven (rikimaru)
H@gi Posted January 13, 2006 Author Posted January 13, 2006 that character looks like the guy out of tenchu wrath of heaven (rikimaru) Really?I have never played it. Do you have any link with screenshots?
Enigma Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 that character looks like the guy out of tenchu wrath of heaven (rikimaru) I was thinking the same thing.
Shorty Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Funny that you say Wrath of Heaven. I'm pretty sure Rikimaru was in the original games. Y'know, back when Tenchu didn't suck
AshMat Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Yeah! I've got a fan!I'm glad you finished it. So you gonna make a second? I downlaoded GM and it seems a lot harder than i thoguht.. Next time: better graphics, better grammer, better cut scenes but the game was overall fun to play. And spend a lot of time on it. Make it a long one. at least 10 levels. And is it possible to make the bosses harder and with like a health bar. And so they make a nosie when you hit them.
mario114 Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 So you gonna make a second? I downlaoded GM and it seems a lot harder than i thoguht.. Same here, i got borred trying to follow a step by step guid. I'll leave it to those who know what there doing.
Sarka Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 I got GM aswell, and I made the catch the clown one, then had a few experiments, next I'll try and side scrolling shooter, then a maze then platformer. H@gi, I think your started a small craze (well... kinda... me and Retro-lover anyway)
Bogbas Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 If you're interested i could post some links to other game developement programs(some commercial some free). If you think that GM is a bit limited. And aren't afraid of some programming (don't worry it's not c++ or anything complex as that).
