Retro_Link Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 No thread for this?! IGN Review - 8.0 Anyone know whether the story is very standalone, or tied into the previous games? (I'm sure the HD trilogy is great, but don't really have the time for three Sly games). Haven't played a Sly game before, but might look to get it at some point, as a nice new fun franchise to try out.
Magnus Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I'm not sure what kind of story you're expecting from a series of platformers, but it's not exactly deep. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to jump right in.
Retro_Link Posted February 14, 2013 Author Posted February 14, 2013 GT Review - 8.0 Think I'll definitely be getting this at some stage.
Daft Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 I just want more Ratchet & Clank games. They're the Pixar...game of games.
Retro_Link Posted February 14, 2013 Author Posted February 14, 2013 I really should play a Ratchet and Clank. Where did you start with the series @Daft, had you played the others? or start with the PS3 stuff?
Daft Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 I just played the PS3 games. Smashy smashy all the boxes for all the bolts!! Got a Platinum on Crack in Time. I should probably check out the re-release of the PS2 games...but they'll probably feel dated.
Retro_Link Posted February 14, 2013 Author Posted February 14, 2013 Was that the first PS3 game? I was always kinda jealous of that at the time just having the Wii, looked so beautiful!
Daft Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Nah, the third. The Future trilogy (the PS3 games) are, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time ToD is also excellent. They're just a lot of fun, and fucking stupid. Like the RYNO V gun that play Beethoven's Fifth when you start to fire it.
dwarf Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 (edited) Avoid Quest for Booty like the plague. I've only played the original R&C, ToD, QfB and a tiny bit of CiT. I loved the original on the PS2, I think it would hold up quite favourably too. I was slightly let down by ToD because the shooty stuff was spammed (I think the series has gradually leaned more and more over to the weapons stuff) but it's still worth playing. I can imagine CiT is probably the best in the series because it looks so smooth and shiny. No interest in Sly. The preconception I have of it, which might be unfair, is that because it's a stealth game for younger audiences, the stealth stuff will be really heavy-handed and simplistic and annoying. Like the prison island section in Wind Waker. Edited February 14, 2013 by dwarf
Hero-of-Time Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 The R&C games are godly! I highly recommend picking up the HD collection before moving on to the PS3 versions. You really need to see the story behind the rise and fall of Captain Qwarks career. I have Q-Force sitting on my shelf waiting to be played after Ni No Kuni. Sure it's a spinoff but it's still R&C.

Like the prison island section in Wind Waker. QiT isn't bad, it's just short and there isn't much to it. It's the definition of 'meh'. CiT is great, I think it's less shooty than ToD.
Retro_Link Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 (edited) Has anyone played this?... It's currently £9.89/£10.99 in the Summer Sale. And £8.09/£8.99 on Vita. Edited August 3, 2013 by Retro_Link
Cube Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 I haven't played it, but the PS3 version includes the Vita version and the saves can sync.
