Pokemon Black & White 2

Recommended Posts

Pokémon is no longer a fad, but it has got legs. Black & White have sold over 15,000,000 units. That's better than nearly every game this generation barring Mario stuff and CoD

When did I ever suggest that it had stopped selling well, or that it was a fad?

I'm talking about the profit being made from the series being enough to finance the extremely high expense of putting the series into 3D. I'm not going to go into HOW or WHY it is more expensive but it just is.

Thanks for the reasonable comments from people about the Pokedex, I don't have a 3DS so I wouldn't be able to comment on how much animation is already done and so on. However the actual characters themselves are only part of the 3D assets and many things come into 3D that aren't necessary in 2D such as camera programming and more complicated rendering.

And yes Nintendo could go 3D with an isometric camera style like now but really what would be the point? It would be hardly any different from now and the time spent on the 3D assets would almost entirely be wasted.

The one thing I've learnt is that Pokemon games have never really been a demonstration of a particular piece of Hardware's power... in the way that Mario Galaxy showed off what Wii was capable of... There are always prettier games out there, so I really don't imagine a fully 3D world or something for Gen 6, like the Gamecube pokemon spin-off games for instance... I seriously think they will keep the isometric view, just with far more detail... at least the 3D will allow for a nice sense of depth with all the buildings and trees and stuff... Perhaps they would move to 3D models for Battles... or even the characters in the overworld... I dunno...

I would love them to push the boat out, but in a way I kind of like the slow progression they have made with their GFX... Black and White kept the traditional style but had a really nice use of 3D here and there... just blocky as hell... with the added power of the 3DS, well I imagine a much cleaner presentation obviously...

All I am really saying is that I have never felt Gamefreak pushing the GFX bar with Pokemon games, not really... so I don't expect a massive overhaul in their style for the 3DS games... but I am happy to be proven wrong :)

I betcha after you complete the game, the areas that are frozen will unfreeze and basically be like a second area for you to explore post game.

YES PLEASE! That would be amazing!

Wouldn't everything just be really damp and squidgy from all the melted ice turning to gallons of water?? :P

The melted ice will probably flood Hoenn, resulting in an alternative timeline in which Team Aqua have already won at the start of Gen III.

Don't forget the awesome bridge porn!

Haha, which would lead to an Alt Timeline Remake of Gen III? My favourite Gen??? How wonderful! :P

Now that I look at it, isn't it just jizz from the guy who made it, because he was so pleased with his creation?

Perhaps bukake was performed in order to bless the map and its fictional inhabitants.

I'll stop now.

Can't have it being EXACTLY the same as in B&W ;)

Tepig's one is the best, cause he's a fire pig and he breaks boulders when he sees them!

I've only played the first game, but it's decent fun. It's a fairly simple game really where you run around wide environments and fight other Pokemon in real time (ALA Zelda) to befriend them. Once you've befriended them, you can take part in a series of minigame events, using whatever pokemon you've befriended (each with differing stats, a bit like the Pokeathlon in HG/SS) There's not much depth to the fighting mechanics and the world isn't really detailed, but it's fun to just run around and see Pokemon do stupid stuff.

I don't know how much the 2nd game differs, but the 1st one was decent fun. Nothing earth shattering, but it made me smile at least :) (especially when you speak to Rayquaza and out of nowhere he shouts out with a "WOOF!" sound. That just cracked me up  )

So, have you been wondering what game to get?

Junichi Masuda recently tweeted saying that he recommends that if you bought Black previously, you should get Black 2 or if you had White, you should get White 2.

Black 2 for me, the starter I don't know. That will depend on my future party (I pick around 10/15 Pokemon that will work well with my starter)

I am excited about this.

I absolutely loved every second of White (and Black), as I had both and put 150 hours into each!!

I discovered breeding for the first time this gen (despite playing all of the games in the series and never bothering before) and had a totally different team of 6 on both games.

I just loved them and cannot wait for these games!

I now need a Pokemon fix, so am looking at picking up Heart Gold to play through if I can find it cheap somewhere!
