ReZourceman Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 I just finished Season 3!!!!!!! zommmgggg. Probably my favourite one so far. I won't post any spoilers. MASSIVE LOL MOMENT THOUGH. There is a dude reading a porno mag in one of the episodes, and it is a porno mag that I own. Get.
Paj! Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 One day I'll finish Season 1. Considering it's the best damn thing and I love good film things.
dwarf Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Have yet to pick up Season 3. I preferred Season 1 to 2, but they're both amazing amazing amazing.
Dan_Dare Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 2 was weird for me because obviously the whole new cast is a bit of a 'wuuhh!? reveal but in retrospect, it was the perfect way to do a second season and it makes much more sense when you watch more of the whole series. There's elements in season 2 that don't seem relevant at all at the time but later they come back and turn out to be crucial.
dwarf Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 I'm looking forward to them continuing the drugs case in 3. I just liked the characters in the first season too much, even the mean, horrible baddies. Avon Blogsdale is cool. I suspect he may die in this upcoming series but I can't wait to watch a couple of 'sodes.
The Bard Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 "That's why we'll never win; They fuck up, they get beat. We fuck up, we get pensions." The show is amongst other things, a source for some of the most earth shattering belly laughs. Incredibly smart dialogue, and for once, America taking a cue from a peculiarly British trait in tv, being that it was written with a full story arc and end in mind, not just a beginning and end point with the intervening seasons left as fodder for the network. Jesus, thinking back, there is so much to talk about, that its difficult for me to think of something to say. It's just so dense; the kind of attention to detail that rewards repeated viewings and really is reminiscent of text, rather than visual media. Ain't nothin but sugar in them veins.
dwarf Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 I think I beat all of you because I've seen less of it.
Dan_Dare Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 (edited) I'm looking forward to them continuing the drugs case in 3. I suspect he may die in this upcoming series but I can't wait to watch a couple of 'sodes. Yeah the Barksdale gang are all amazing. I really think it works though that after they're busted up (partially) by the investigations unit, they're sent further back in the focus of the show while they lick their wounds. It's the first part of a trend in the show to establish it as a portrait of Baltimore as a city whole, not just the conflict between the police and West Side drug dealers. Later seasons all have really different focuses Edited September 4, 2010 by Dan_Dare
Gizmo Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 Was actually considering watching this through again. Already have done twice but its just that good.
gmac Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 this scene sums up the greatness of the Wire for me
ReZourceman Posted September 21, 2010 Author Posted September 21, 2010 Season 5 episode 4. WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.
dwarf Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I've just finished watching episode 5 of season 3. This series hasn't quite taken off for me yet, though it looks to be hotting up around now. As always, there's been a couple of great laughs. There's one actor/character that I find hella annoying though. He's disgusting.
dwarf Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 The guy that wants to run for Major. His mannerisms, accent, snarling mouth, even his script. He just looks like a slimy bastard.
dwarf Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I'm guessing he's a grower, I mean, he's fucking with Burrell, which can only be a good thing, and he's toned down his act a bit the further in it gets. We'll see.
ReZourceman Posted September 23, 2010 Author Posted September 23, 2010 I've only got one episode left.
jayseven Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Haha :P I watched all 5 seasons in, like, a couple of weeks or something stupid - but the last episode... I put off for ages. Couldn't bring myself to believe it was all over. SNIFFLE.
