Fierce_LiNk Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 It's actually because he's Scottish. We're taught from a young not to be caught messing about. Hahahah. I don't doubt that one bit. :p Some true words from Giggsy When you think about it, giving that much money to somebody in their late teens or early 20s is...well, almost suicide really. This news about Rooney will just add more fuel to the fire regarding footballers having too much money in place of morals. It's all we'll hear for the next year now, as the public burn effigies of Rooney and John Terry.
MadDog Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Terry, Rooney and Cole have given footballers a bad rep. 90% of footballers are decent people. Reina is a perfect example, he's loyal, great guy and gives everything for his club. You could see how sad he was when he scored that own goal vs Arsenal. He really cares about the club, there's other players like this. Carragher, Agger and Torres are other examples. Gerrard is passionate and loves the club as much as anyone, although he got abit of bad press from the DJ incident.

Passion for the club and having a good reputation in general are different. Gerrard is not a good role model. Neither is Joey Barton, Terry, Rooney or Cole. I don't know about Torres having a lot of passion for the club either. Wasn't there talk of him leaving? If so, that's not passion. I'm very sceptical about any player having true emotion for their club. Whilst there may be a few they are not in the majority. There was a good article in the guardian last year where Tottenham defender Assou-Ekotto said its all about the money. I believe him.
gmac Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 well the Assou-Ekotto thing was more about the fact that to him the game was just a job, and he said he doesn't actually like football
Ellmeister Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Yeah, but he was saying he didn't believe in the charade of players saying they have passion for their team in that same article.
MadDog Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Torres could of gone to Man City and demanded 200k a week and he'd get it. The fact that he came out and said I love Liverpool and I'm staying, certainly says to me that he loves the club. Then look at the clubs finances, they are all over the place. He could of gone to a Man City or Chelsea and get paid a fortune every week, that alone convinces me that he isn't driven on money.

The same Torres that was an Athletico Madrid boy (from an area of Madrid) and loved them. The same one that then left them for Liverpool, and now loves them? Torres wouldn't go to another Premier League team, out of respect for Liverpool. He also wouldn't go to Real Madrid, out of his respect and love for Athletico. If Barcelona came with a huge deal, he'll be off, in my opinion. Also, Liverpool's owners would have to be monumentally stupid to sell him to City, a top four rival. Or even Chelsea. As for Steven Gerrard, well...he should be serving a prison sentence about now. Edited September 5, 2010 by Fierce_LiNk
flameboy Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Also isn't Steven Gerrard one of the footballers who currently has a super injuction against the newspapers printing a story about him having an affair? Also just a side note...one of the alledged places rooney was meant to have sex with prostitute in a toilet of a casino is a place my dads manager at!
MadDog Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 No, I remember a story a few days ago saying an England player wanted one. That's turned out to be Rooney.
flameboy Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 No, I remember a story a few days ago saying an England player wanted one. That's turned out to be Rooney. Nah two players filed for them....
Fierce_LiNk Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I've heard that there were 4 players doing that. Fucking hell, England.
Happenstance Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Of course who knows if this is true or not but if it is Rooneys reasoning is genius: Wayne to Coleen: 'Affair is no big deal' Wayne Rooney has told wife Coleen that reports he cheated on her while she was pregnant are "no big deal", according to sources. The England footballer, who was yesterday alleged to have paid a prostitute for sex seven times over a four-month period, apparently told her that the affair was just "boys being boys". A friend of Coleen told The Mirror: "She’s been torn apart by this. She has every right to grab their son and walk out. "The most shocking thing is he told her it was no big deal, just boys being boys." In 2004, the Manchester United striker was forced to apologise after it was revealed that he visited prostitutes in Liverpool. The source added: "She forgave Wayne when he sleazed around with prostitutes before. Can she do it again?" http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/showbiz/news/a273358/wayne-to-coleen-affair-is-no-big-deal.html
Charlie Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Scotland line up for tomorrow night: McGregor, Hutton, Weir, McManus, Wallace, McCulloch, Brown, D Fletcher, McFadden, Miller, Boyd I'm really pleased that Boyd and McFadden are starting. Boyd is always likely to grab a goal. Not too sure why Miller is playing; hasn't scored an international goal in 2 1/2 years or 16 hours of play. I've never been a fan of his to be honest.

Gah, why does he have McCulloch in there. We're playing sodding Liechtenstein, get your attacking players in. Robson was one of the best on Friday night and he's not even in the team.

In fact, I hope that this whole thing is a fabrication. I just don't know. I'm hoping that he takes out all his frustration on the pitch. It might happen.
MadDog Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 And get sent off? We all know about Rooneys temper.
Fierce_LiNk Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 And get sent off? We all know about Rooneys temper. He's only ever had 3 sending offs at Club Level. The same as Fernando Torres. Steven Gerrard has been sent off more at club level. Plus, when Rooney is pissed, he produces this:
Ramar Posted September 7, 2010 Author Posted September 7, 2010 Rooney picks up poor yellows because of his temper, but I can't knock the guy for that, when I'm crying out for some of our lads to have a bit of fire in their bellies.
MadDog Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 He's only ever had 3 sending offs at Club Level. The same as Fernando Torres. Steven Gerrard has been sent off more at club level. Fernando Torres isn't known as a guy with a bad temper. Gerrard is older so he's always going to have more reds. Rooney gets sent off for silly things though, he hardly gets booked for bad fouls. Mostly just dissent and generally disrespecting the officials.
MadDog Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Argentina 2 Spain 0 after 15 mins. . Spain arn't full strength, only defender from the World Cup that's playing is Pique.
Jon Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 7TH MINUTE OF FUCKING INJURY TIME!!!!!!!! We're gonna win the Euros no bother now.
dan-likes-trees Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Argentina 2 Spain 0 after 15 mins. . Spain arn't full strength, only defender from the World Cup that's playing is Pique. That would explain it, did you see Tevez's? Shocker for the keeper...
Charlie Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 The only reason I stayed right til the death was to boo Scotland off the park. One of the worst performances in recent years, I'd put it up there with Faroe Islands 2-2. I still booed Scotland off the park even though we won. They didn't deserve to win the match; we would've been lucky to get a point. There were more of us in the stadium than the population of Liechentstein. They have about 3 professional players. And Liechenstein number 23 was definitely booked twice but didn't get sent off?!
