Here's something that sneaked back in from last year's E3: Warhammer 40K: Space Marine, made by Relic but a 3rd person action/shooter/RPG title rather then an RTS. I'm completely stoked for this, it looks ass shreddingly awesome. Like Gears of War, except fun. (I mean I don't hate Gears but... well, you know. :heh: )

Coming to consoles... at some point in the future.

There is already a petition with over 12000 (as of last night) signatures for it to come to PC. It's surprising that it isn't slated for PC since it's a PC franchise (mostly, very few console Warhammer games) and a PC developer.

The 40K MMO has some trailers too, and it looks pretty great as well.

Needs to have the ability to change what Space Marine chapter, Dark Angels > Ultra Marines.

Looks interesting though.

Changing the chapter would kinda ruin the story in a way. They all sort of do their own things. My choice would be Grey Knights because their models are much nicer, of course they specialize in demon killing....which could make the campaign really silly if they're sent off to stop the Orks from stomping on squishies.

Before I unleash all my fanboyish love for this game I NEED to know if it will have co-op or not because the devs have been too silent about it.

Also, the Sprore team should make a game based of the Tyranids.

Think about it....

Despite the new trailer there's still bizzarely little information on it, particularly on it's official site. It is a shooter/brawler style action/RPG game for sure, but beyond that much is known. I understand co-op will probably be a significant component of the game though. Apparently they'll have a playable build of some kind at Gamescom in a couple of months so everything will be revealed soon enough.

Hopefully they are just holding back on the info until the relaese is more imminent.

What info came out about this during E3 was just strangely little.

A cocktease trailer and some info on upgrading.

I would have thought that harping about co-op in game like this would be the focus point from announcement to release...

Yeah for single player it probably wouldn't be a good idea, but for an online mode it would be sweet.

I think the Bolters RoF is still a little high, but otherwise everything looks fantastic.

When it comes to 40K I don't think there is anyone better than Relic, and I'm glad they choose Orkz as the primary and left it open to Chaos appearing. And in a way Tyrannids as well. Either of them can appear with little to no warning to throw a wrench in the everything. Necrons too, but they'd be so annoying to fight.

E3 trailer and gameplay footage.

Yep, still looking awesome. Haven't seen anything about any multiplayer modes and the like yet though, hope they detail some of that soon. They had a co-op mode planned, I hope they didn't drop it.

Great demo, seems to be excellent bloody fun throughout. It's quite a tough game too, I tried it on normal and it took me a few tries to get through the first of the two levels. You need to learn that regularly executing orks is the only way to get by, and you'll need to get a few combos learned to help you through.

It's not 3rd person shooter, it's a brawler - you can't run or hide, there's no cover mechanic - you have to charge straight up and get violent as possible as efficiently as possible. Comparing this with Gears of War would like saying rugby and football are the same sport. Probably won't get this straight out with so much else competing for my limited funds in the next few months but this is most definitely a future purchase.

agreed, it;s great fun. Was a little confused until I worked out that executions give you health, but it's a great mechanic for a game about Space Marines. Only by being bloody, ruthless, brutal and as violent as possible can you succeed.

Absolutely shitting love the assault jet pack too. It's so RWWAAR! In fact, one of the game's clear strengths is in portraying the sheer physical crunch of the 40k combat. Bolters finally feel like the little grenade launchers they're supposed to and the marines feel like hulking killing machines.

Fantastic.

Wish they would toss the nerd shit and just make another Company of Heroes :heh:

So....you wish they would fire a majority of their team? Makes sense to me.:p

Just kidding ofc, I really like the original Dawn of War, never got around to the second, and CoH is pretty much my favourite game. I have a certain amount of trepidation about this game, just because Relic have never really proven they can pull off an action game before, the WW2 shooter for 360 was pretty horrendous. And this is called Space Marine. Does nobody reckon that naming their game that in light of the prevalent cliche in videogames will damage peoples perception of it? Perhaps this is just for Warhammer nerds though. I've never liked the fiction.

It's because you're not a tabletop playing, games workshop lurking, female repelling dweeb.

And I say that with all the love in the world for those of you who are these things :heh:
