Daft Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Never bought a Motorstorm game. Played PR and just didn't like the car classes. I'm not a fan of off roaders. That video looks insane though. Day 1.
dwarf Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Day 1. Well shit. I'll most likely buy it when it's around 15 quid but that's only because I have jack all money. I'm rating the big air and general gorgeousness of when things are flying around on the screen. It's the exaggerated physics that always make me smile in Motorstorm. And as I said - running people over for ultimate victory!
Daft Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 I'm a bit bored of games at the moment and this looks stupidly unreal enough to be a lot of fun. Also, the street cars make me happy. I like grip on my tires.
dwarf Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 The fundamentals won't have changed though, it'll still have the problem that they don't supply you with enough boost / it doesn't cool down quickly enough, even when considering air/water. Still, it does look darn promising as a new take on the series, I liked Pacific Rift a lot and this just looks to be making it more 'fun'.
Daft Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Yeah, looks more rampant. The most action packed game there is? Quite possibly.
dwarf Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 I think it'd be an applicable point to say that this looks good?
tapedeck Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Woo. More 3D content and the last one was good without ever being Excitetrucking awesome.
dwarf Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I S-Ranked ExciteTruck and can safely say that it didn't really offer the same tight racingl experience that exists in Motorstorm. Both are good games though.
dwarf Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Looks like us Ur0Peenz got the better deal release date wise and boxart wise, it hits here March 16th, a good half month later in teh US. EU boxart: Triumph.
Aimless Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 It's probably because they're getting MLB 11: The Show in March and not a single person in Europe understands baseball. Sony seem to have an informal plan of releasing a big exclusive each month.
dwarf Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Scored an 8 at Eurogamer with a mostly glowing review http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-04-01-game-of-the-week-motorstorm-apocalypse-article This might be the game to put an end to not buying one since Fallout: New Vegas, which I haven't bothered to complete. Will wait for a price drop though.
tapedeck Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 That review read like a 10 IMO. Really keen on this but having bought a 3DS gonna have to wait for this cheaper.
Cube Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 If they ever add a replay mode to this through an update then let me know. Otherwise I'll pass. I've only played a bit of MotorStorm 2 - it's just frustrating the amount of awesome stuff you do that you want to see again from a better angle.
MadDog Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 If they ever add a replay mode to this through an update then let me know. Otherwise I'll pass. I've only played a bit of MotorStorm 2 - it's just frustrating the amount of awesome stuff you do that you want to see again from a better angle. There's a photo mode. Isn't that pretty similar?
dwarf Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 But then you don't want to be pausing in the midst of doing something awesome. And it's hardly a substitute. The best thing about Dirt 2 was its replay function, and I imagine it would have been absolutely fantastic in this.
Daft Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 I did not like the other two, this feels much faster.
dwarf Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 That was my main gripe with the last two - lack of boost. Therefore you've raised a very positive point. Interesting, you got it on Lovefilm?
Cookyman Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Damn it Game had this at £19.99 but it's now out of stock!
Cookyman Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Motorstorm Apocalypse is a far more arcadey title than the previous two and one hell of a lot faster. There is something very satisfying in racing across the skyline track jumping from skyscraper to skyscraper. Online is very comprehensive and compelling - I can see this being another racing title I'm gonna go for the platinuim in. It's going cheap fellas so if you've been having any doubts then cast them to one side and buy it - you'll be glad you did.
Cookyman Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Oooh some free Motorstorm goodness - Nice! Announcing The After Party Update For MotorStorm Apocalypse! On behalf of the whole team here at Evolution Studios, I’m here to bring news of the biggest update to MotorStorm Apocalypse so far – so big, in fact, that we’ve named it! Before I reveal what you can expect from the update, I’d like to take this opportunity to say that Wreckreation (as we lovingly call all things online in MotorStorm) is a huge part of Apocalypse, and we’ve been devoted to making it “the best that it can be†since we first started to design and develop it several years ago. We’ve always known that feedback from players and continued development when the game is in your hands would be a key part of this, and we’re still committed to supporting this goal; to make it “the best it can beâ€. Cutting to the chase, here’s an overview of the After Party, which we hope will enhance and extend your enjoyment of the MotorStorm Apocalypse: A new day and night track, The Rock…The stage for this After Party is an abandoned prison island near the bay, known to the lunatic racers and ravers as The Rock. Multiple routes have been carved into the island’s varied terrain, so expect off-road racing action reminiscent of the legendary island in the Pacific Rift. Expansion of ‘Special Events’…A heap of fresh single-player races, hand-crafted by the design talent at Evolution Studios, are being introduced via Special Events Packs. Each pack sees you play as a distinguished character from the Festival, offering the grand sum of 120,000 chips if you can take 1st place in six unique events. The first pack (Stone: Jack of Clubs) is included in the update. Further Events Packs will be available in coming weeks via PlayStation Store, for free. Weekly Challenges…Weekly Challenges offer you a great opportunity to boost your chip total. There are 30,000 chips on the table every week and to claim them you’ll need to beat the specified target in a Rookie, Pro and Veteran challenge. Chips, if you didn’t already know, unlock new Ranks and rewards in the game, as well as several PlayStation Trophies. The available races change at the same time every week (on a Wednesday), meaning that there are new challenges to take on and more chip rewards if you can beat them. Good luck! Vehicle performance re-tuned…Feedback from the MotorStorm racing community, along with the game data and statistics we’ve analysed since the first day of online racing, highlighted that a number of vehicle types would benefit from a slight performance re-tune. In response to this, changes have been made to several vehicle types to support more evenly balanced and competitive races. Most noticeably improved are the Supercar, Dirt Bike and Superbike classes. The Racing Truck, Muscle Car and ATV types have also been tweaked. Game, servers and connectivity improved… The update includes many ‘behind the scenes’ changes to the game and the online servers, to make the overall experience more robust and reliable. Important improvements have been made to online matchmaking lobbies, player profile records and leaderboard browsing. The After Party is a healthy update to the game, which we hope will keep you entertained while we continue to develop another big update – which will include the Game Mode Editor, steering wheel support and several other surprises we’ve yet to announce. In the mean-time, enjoy the After Party, look forward to the free Event Packs on PlayStation Store and watch out for a refreshing change to the Matchmaking playlists soon. Keep tabs on these along with upcoming community events on motorstorm.com and follow @PhenomEvolution on twitter.com for all the latest on Apocalypse.
Cookyman Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Anybody else updated their game yet. The free track - The Rock is lovely especially at night. You can take some amazing pictures on this game and I love the customisable vehicles.
Choze Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 I have this on rental. It seems ok enough for a rental game though I prefer Pacific rift. Havent played much. I like the updates made since release. Technically its quite accomplished. Looks great and runs well. Racing is frantic and it feels like Motorstorm at least. Cant help but think some things were silly to put in like running over pedestrians or the scripted destruction... Story mode seems kind of pointless(you can skip all cutscenes) and the game falls prey to the same problems most racing games have this generation. They either go too casual, dumbed down and/or too Michael Bay. This seems to have gone the Michael Bay direction mostly.
Daft Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Cant help but think some things were silly to put in like running over pedestrians or the scripted destruction... ...So the main selling point of the game?
