darksnowman Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Oh D_pr0d why do you torment me so. Drum roll please... Donkey Kong Country Trilogy!
Patch Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 But yeah the whole Metroid universe could do with a different perspective. Y'know, actually seriously see the impact that the little blighters would have on the psyche of a society. No one really ever seems to acknowledge quite how mystical and amazing they are and in MP3 specifically, they are just kind of there. Agreed. I loved reading the Space Pirate Lore in Metroid Prime. It left me wanting to know so much more about them. Their civilisation, their culture, history, motives and ideals. It's probably already described in detail in comics and other media for all I know, but I like the idea of a Metroid game from the perspective of a Space Pirate. Metroid Prime 3 only really gave us a peek at their technology.
Cube Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 He didn't crush them as far as i'm aware. Her dad went on a Space Pirate ship and shot some energy element that the Space Pirates invaded them for and it exploded and Ridley done a crazy mouth blast burnign everything towards Samus then her mum appeared, smoke arised and Samus was still alive. So that's where Rowling got the idea from... HOWEVER, I'd actually like to see at least one game where you play as Samus the bounty hunter and... you know.... do some bounty hunting. She does Bounty Hunting in the first two Metroid games.
Retro_Link Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 She does Bounty Hunting in the first two Metroid games. She does? oh you mean Metroid and Metroid II.
Cube Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 oh you mean Metroid and Metroid II. Yea. That's if you count killing for money as Bounty Hunting. Then again, it's quite a wide thing (in fiction) anyway. Plus the "Bounty Hunter" tag was applied early on, like the "Space Pirates", who are nothing like pirates.
Jonnas Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 She does? oh you mean Metroid and Metroid II. Technically, since in MP1 she's continuing the work she started in the first Metroid, she's bounty hunting there, too (Phazon got in the way, but that was a relatively small detour) In Super Metroid and MP2, she started the game on a recovery/rescue mission. Not exactly hunting, but a mercenary works with what she has :P (though, in MP2 she failed her mission and, shortly after, started serving her own agenda) The bounty hunting is there. It's just that one mission can span an entire game. It's used more as a plot device, and usually the reason she enters a hostile environment all by herself.
Retro_Link Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 We havn't seen it in the same sense as Boba Fett though. Get a target... kill/capture... deliver... moneys!
Jonnas Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 We havn't seen it in the same sense as Boba Fett though. Get a target... kill/capture... deliver... moneys! Exactly, we don't see this, but a game like that would change the gameplay considerably. A spin-off could work (maybe with a new character, or the hunters from MP:H), because I can't really picture (good) bounty hunting and metroid classic gameplay in one game. Also, Samus doesn't really have one enemy at a time. Her bounties are usually an entire base...or species...or planet :p
Emasher Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I don't think I really want to see a metroid like Farcry 2 where you go somewhere, kill someone, and get paid, but I'd like to see a metroid game with multiple bounty hunting missions in it. I think I'd rather it be worked into the story a bit more though than having you go on a bunch of short side-quest like things. But if partway through you were given a new mission that was worked into a larger story it could work well.
Blue_Ninja0 Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 He didn't crush them as far as i'm aware. Yeah that's what happened. He certainly wasn't crushing any skulls! Not in the actual canon version anyway. Really? Maybe I'm mixing it up. I've read it a lot of time ago but I definitely remember seeing the skull crushing. Maybe it was some fan-creation I saw latter. Sorry.
