Will Posted April 18 Posted April 18 I’m about half way through the WrestleMania IX documentary and loving it so far. Unfortunately I’m away from home this weekend so it will have to wait until next week to finish it off. 10 hours ago, BowserBasher said: Think like many I'm probably interested in the WWE title match. Just for the reason of what would they do. If Cody wins, then what does Cena do for the rest of the year? He can't just go back to being a face and act like this didn't happen. But I don't see him having much to do as heel Cena for the remainder of the year as is. N ow if he wins, then he's already told us what he's going to do and we have a story for the rest of the year. My money is on Cena to win this, with a good amount of heel interference. I think they go with a real screw over of Cody and Cena walks off into the sunset with the belt, then the story to Summerslam is Cody’s mission to get it back. Similar to you, I don’t see what they do with Cena if he doesn’t win and he’s been so good as a heel I think there is an awesome story if he does get the belt. 10 hours ago, BowserBasher said: Jey has to win, it seems like they have been building him up for this big win for a while now. I hope they go with a Jey win but I have a feeling in the back of my head they won’t. I think my money is still on Jey winning but I really don’t feel too confident on it. 10 hours ago, BowserBasher said: What are people looking forward to in terms of matches, and any predictions? Aside from the previous two I think the stuff I’m most looking forward to is: Jade Cargill vs. Naomi I’ve never been a big fan of Naomi but I really like Jade. Not sure this will actually be this great but for whatever reason I’m looking forward to it. Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins Probably the obvious one. The CM Punk / Seth build up was amazing at points over the last few months. Roman could be removed without losing too much but I think this will be a great match and should be some interesting story coming out of this. Women's World Championship Triple Threat: Iyo Sky (c) vs. Bianca Belair vs. Rhea Ripley Another one thats been quite fun to watch the build up and all three are great. The way things have been going I feel like Iyo will win then she can go off and do other stuff while Bianca and Rhea keep on feeding for a bit. Looking forward to it but I think I’ll definitely be watching the morning after rather than staying up. 2
BowserBasher Posted Monday at 01:59 PM Posted Monday at 01:59 PM Well WrestleMania weekend is over, and we had a few good twists. NXT Stand and Deliver was the better overall show non stop banger after banger. Sunday was the better WM show. Saturday seemed to be a bit off. It seemed that the matches just weren't clicking. Anyway some thoughts. Spoiler Go Jey. He really did have to win this with the way things were. He's been white hot and one of the loudest reactions each week. Glad Tiffany won. I was dreading that they were going to just give it to Charlotte there. Match seemed scrappy too. Tag titles, New Day probably was the way to go. Give them another run as heels and then let a new team get the victory over them. I wonder what the original plan was before Mysterio was injured? Match was pretty standard with what seemed like an odd win for the Gable....er I mean El Grande Americano. Jacob was the obvious choice for the US title. Guy is over big time and needs a good run now. Probably going to end up feuding with Solo. Rollins v Roman v Punk. Best match of Saturday. Something was happening in the match due to the buildup but I didn't see that finish coming. Totally say the first betrayal as soon as Hayman got in the ring. But damn, didn't see the second. Best person won though. IC title. WHO SAW THAT COMING!!! I mean damn what a match to start with. Thought Bron would retain here. Had a feeling there was going to be some Judgement Day shinnannigans going on, but damn, Dom. I did not in a million years see Dom winning the IC title this soon. However I got to add, guy deserves it. He was floundering when he was face with Rey, and three years ago at Clash at the Castle all that changed and he in a year became the biggest heel going. Two years on and he's definitely one of the guys to watch out for going forward. Woman's title match. Again banger of a match. Glad Iyo won and was the right thing to do. Ripley and Belair can feud between themselves now and Iyo can move on. Women's Title. Not sure what happened to Bayley, I know they said attacked, but it was finally great to see Becky back. Not missed a beat and it looked like Lyra was genuinely happy to have her at her side. AJ v Logan. I guess it served its purpose as a way to move along the actual story with AJ and Kross. Priest and Drew was a banger. Great match either could have won and I don't think to would have mattered, but I think that Drew needed the win more. I know I originally said Hendry was not needed when it was bought up in this thread, but due to the nature of it, I think this was the best was to have gone about it. Orton needed a match for number 20. It couldn't just be a squash, so I expected Solo. Was pleasantly surprised to see that Hendry came out. Match did exactly as it needed. Hendry got some offence in didn't look like an idiot and we got that great RKO. Main event! Well it had to go that way didn't it? I could see them not doing the change but Cena had the win as he just had the better story going forward. Like what will happen now, will he disappear for a bit and actually look like hes taken the belt home? Then of course come the end of the year, either someone is going to get a big push to beat him. Or they really do have him retire with the belt. Then lets just put a new one on the line at the Rumble. 2
Will Posted Tuesday at 02:05 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:05 PM Agreed @BowserBasher, Saturday was a bit dull with a great main event, Sunday was an amazing undercard with a main event that didn't quite hit what it should have. Spoiler 23 hours ago, BowserBasher said: Go Jey. He really did have to win this with the way things were. He's been white hot and one of the loudest reactions each week. Yeah was really glad this went how it did. Not sure he'll have much of a run with the belt but it's a nice payoff to a long build for him. This end was exactly what I expected, it was almost like counting down the story points to the inevitable end. That being said, I didn't mind it at all. Great match and sets up a lot of nice things to move forward with. I imagine some format of these three will headline a number of events this year and more than likely carry into next years WrestleMania. Yeah I don't think this was ever going any other way, but I think they really messed up the overall story telling of it. Seems so odd not to have had The Rock be the interference and instead have that little rapper dude (no idea what his name is) come and get involved. Loved Cena's drab entrance. Look forward to seeing that comes next. 1
BowserBasher Posted Tuesday at 02:52 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:52 PM Spoiler I had no idea who 99% of the so called stars that they showed were. Cena’s entrance is so fitting. gone are all the colours it’s just all black and even his name is in the dullest most common looking font.
Helmsly Posted Tuesday at 08:21 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:21 PM (edited) Yeah, agree with a lot of what you both wrote. I enjoyed he main event of Night 1 and most of the matches over both nights, however the main event of Night 2: Spoiler It made sense for Cena to defeat Cody. But the way they told that story was so poor that I am truly shocked that they went with that finish and that no one through the chain of command thought this was bad and changed it. Compared to last year when we had all of those great run ins, this year we got a Rapper, who seemed to take the better part of two minutes to walk to the ring to interfere and get knocked out. He was just there as a distraction so Cena can attempt to knock out Cody with the belt. Just watching the reactions afterwards and watching a few wrestling podcasts about it since and that seems to be the general feeling across the board. On the plus side, Cenas promo at the start of Raw the following night was superb. Edited Tuesday at 08:30 PM by Helmsly 2

Helmsly Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) WWE uploaded a nice little behind the scenes video for Wrestlemania 41: Edited 3 hours ago by Helmsly
CrowingJoe79 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Despite the money WrestleMania 41 made, the main event on night 2 was underwhelming. 😔
