MoogleViper Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 I have an idea. A t-shirt, with a picture of somebody wearing that t-shirt.
Eenuh Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Another new design: Great design. For the new challenge I assume? =) Also, how did you make the robot? I'm a bit unfamiliar with stencil art so don't know what you used, yet I like to know what people use to make their art. =D
Retro_Link Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Goafer, where did you get those brushes from?... I've been trying to find some similar.
EEVILMURRAY Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 I'm working on tracing over my Monopoly Man Hulk design since everyone prefers things if they've been done in Photoshop or something. Would anyone have a t-shirt with this? Or know of someone who might want the sexiness?

I got a picture and went to Image>Adjustments>Threshold, then just adjust the slider until it looks right. Sometimes it's a good idea to add some blur as well, so it looks less jagged. I just did that with a photo of a stereo and a retro robot and joined them together. On a side note, have you noticed that most of the entries seem to have very little to do with machines etc? They just seem to be musical instruments with a fancy background. Goafer, where did you get those brushes from?... I've been trying to find some similar. I got them from here. The fonts aren't too shabby either. Edited August 6, 2009 by Goafer

EEVILMURRAY Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 DAMMIT! I keep getting confused. I think it was thirtynine instead then. That doesn't change our connection.
Retro_Link Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 (edited) Just made an entry I may use for the competition, what do people think?... Record'Cycle I'll prob make some others aswell before deciding on one. Can you only enter one? Edited August 6, 2009 by Retro_Link
Eenuh Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 I think it looks good Retro_Link. =) And yeah, you're only allowed one entry in the challenge. So do you guys use random pictures you find online for these creations or do you use your own pictures? Because I've been wanting to try stuff like this but I don't really have photos myself but would feel weird about using other people's images heh. =P
Retro_Link Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 (edited) Yeah I'd use my own images if I have them, but for the one above I didn't. But I'll always edit them quite a lot... and I've effectively created my own art anyway by cobbling loads together and editing. Also, here's a Travis Touchdown T-Shirt I created... Would I be able to sell it on the site? People sell Mario ones etc... Do you prefer it with or without the black along the top? Edited August 6, 2009 by Retro_Link
EEVILMURRAY Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 (edited) I prefer it with the top, as the "strut" holds up nothing and seems useless. Also, maybe some white for the flag if it's on a non white background. You could get away with it on the light blue one you posted, but any shade darker, let alone a black? No way. I think it looks good Retro_Link. =)And yeah, you're only allowed one entry in the challenge. So do you guys use random pictures you find online for these creations or do you use your own pictures? On a different note, I do have a separate image I'me designing, apart from the Monopoly Man Hulk Photoshop Remix. I think many might like it. Edited August 7, 2009 by EEVILMURRAY

It's my retro stereo I bought to match my car, how sad am I? :awesome: I tend to take photos of everything I see that looks random, you never know when they will be useful. I think the only photos other than my own that I've used are: Women from magazines, a penny farthing, Patrick Moore, musicians, Thich Quan Duc, a bonsai tree and that Robot. Not all in the same shirt, obviously. Edited August 7, 2009 by Goafer

Like I said, of course I'll always use my own images where I can, but sometimes you can't. And yeah, that NMH design doesn't work on the darker T's, but I didn't want white in the flag. It works on all the pastel colours. Guess I could do a second design with white in it, for the darker T's.
Goafer Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I see you got the brushes then Retro! Good man. I always wondered how people did paint spatter/graffiti style pictures, then I found those brushes and it's real easy now. Good times.
Goafer Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 How? Where are they hidden? The brushes? They are here. Just download them, then import them into photoshop. Then make total wintastic paint spatter pictures.
EEVILMURRAY Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 (edited) Sorry, I'm being most thick about this, where do I import them? I copied the files into the brushes folder. Now either I've copied them to the wrong place, or I've done good [=D] and I can't find them in Photoshops many piss-taking menus [=(] I have an idea. A t-shirt, with a picture of somebody wearing that t-shirt. The next best thing? http://www.thinkgeek.com/stuff/41/portal-tshirt.html Edited August 8, 2009 by EEVILMURRAY
Goafer Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Hopefully this image helps. Go to the brush tool and select load brushes from the drop down box. Then just find where you unzipped the brushes to import them.

Here's the 'completed/ Monopoly Hulk design, with lovely shaded Photoshop 'Magic'. Here is the prototype for another design, waddaya thinks? Edited August 8, 2009 by EEVILMURRAY

Goafer Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Here is the prototype for another design, waddaya thinks? Alternatively you could combine Robocop with DOA (possibly beach volleyball :awesome:) characters to have the same effect.
EEVILMURRAY Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 I prefered the one you did on paper.Try colouring it a few different ways That's what I like to hear, someone who appreciates proper art. If anything I would probably slam it into watercolour. Alternatively you could combine Robocop with DOA (possibly beach volleyball :awesome:) characters to have the same effect. Which way would be pr0'er and more obvious to everyone? Many will know the Robocop quote and many more might appreciate it with a zombie. Even I don't know what a character from Dead Or Alive looks like
