To be honest, I don't know :P It's just not the most efficient way of doing it. Could be done a lot better, plus there's a danger that people will lose interest as it goes on. There's no list of people who want to vote, so voting will end arbitrarily based on time, so as it goes on it'll take less votes to get through a match, leading to unfair match-ups in subsequent rounds.
