Shorty Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I'm not sure I would call S3&K on XBLA 'inevitable'. I just don't see it happening.
S.C.G Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 But... why else leave it out of what is supposedly the 'Ultimate' collection when it's been in 'lesser collections previously... they will release it, in either XBLA format or as part of a later collection surely?
Shorty Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 It's just that I really want Sega to bring it out on XBLA. And in my experience, whenever you really want sega to do something, they let you down.
S.C.G Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Ah now thats reasoning I can understand ok I'll stop speculating on it for now then, lets just focus on all the other awesomeness this collection will bring, because even as it stands I still can't wait for it. ^^
Goron_3 Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Definitely. Oh well, when it is rereleased, I can't wait to play it again! Still thinking about our S3+K marathon though. Gotta happen yes definately! Found my GC memory card yesterday and gave Lava Reef and Hidden Palace a run through, epic stuff. But if you don't have a copy of it how are you gonna play it eBay Sonic mega collection now dyson, NOW! Defnately the best platform gave i've played; better than Super Mario World imo.
Shorty Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 OK, if S3&K isn't on this collection, my plan is to dig out Sonic and Knuckles Collection (the PC game, I have it somewhere), rip the iso, copy it to my netbook, plug the netbook into my TV, plug in my usb controller and use my netbook as a mini mega-drive :P

flameboy Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Well I have just dug out my memory card, a cube pad and most important the copy of sonic mega collection
Shorty Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 The comments and details behind that review also state that there's no S3&K lock-on. Well, I think with that I am going to cancel my pre-order Will save some money at least.

Well, I think with that I am going to cancel my pre-order Will save some money at least. You where getting it just for S&K3? You can buy SMC+ for PC for less than a fiver. Besides there's tonnes of other good games on the disk.
Shorty Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Like I said, I already have it on the PC. I wasn't getting it just for that but the thought of playing that again, on my big telly and letting my flatmate and g/f play through one of my favourite gaming experiences ever (for the first time, for both of them) made me place the order straight away. Now I probably won't get it for a long time, maybe secondhand or when it's a budget title. And I assure you I was far from the only one who cancelled when they read this.
LegoMan1031 Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Just had a thought, maybe not a XBLA release for S3&K but maybe payable DLC when they get enough ppl moaning about it? lol, just to really take this piss kinda thing.
Shorty Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Hmm, ok I've given it some more thought (and Nami has offered to pay almost half of it) and I think I'll get it anyway. 1) I want to be absolutely sure the lock-on features aren't just super hidden, 2) classic arcade titles 3) Vectorman 4) co-op Golden Axe.
Dante Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Sega Blog US talks: "This ‘Sonic 3 + Knuckles’ feature wasn’t included for Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection. I spoke with the producer for Sonic’s UGC, Ethan Einhorn, who definitely understands the nature of hard-core Sonic fandom. We had a good conversation about the game, and I got Ethan’s official explanation for why Sonic 3 + Knuckles wasn’t included: “To shore up the development time necessary to get “Lock-On” to work in Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection, we would have had to drop all of the bonus games from the disc. Faced with an either/or scenario, we chose to retain our title lineup in its entirety.”"

Dante Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 It would take five mins to get the ‘Sonic 3 + Knuckles’ feature.
LegoMan1031 Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 lol, that link really does show how little there is to do to get it on there. Definatly a money making scheme going on here then (DLC or XBLA).
flameboy Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Well I honestly think it sucks and anyone fooled by the lame excuse they have come up with is stupid! It's a shame because Sonic Mega Collection on my Wii running at 60Hz on my HDTV doesn't look too hot....
Jimbob Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Such a lame excuse from Sega, why leave it out of this collection when it has been in smaller collections with bonus games. Oh well, i hope it comes to XBLA or the VC.
Cube Posted February 14, 2009 Author Posted February 14, 2009 http://www.segaonline.nl/blog/2009/02/13/sega-vintage-collection-breid-uit/ Interesting...a rumour of some more XBLA Mega Drive titles. Including Gunstar Heroes and Sonic the Hedgehog 3. But the Sonic 3 pictures have no mention of Knuckles. Unless they plan on adding "Knuckles lock-on DLC" or something.
LegoMan1031 Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Unless they plan on adding "Knuckles lock-on DLC" or something. Probably, my good opinion of sega is shrinking fast. I Reckon: Sega: I know! Lets release a mega drive ULTIMATE collection but leave out the lock-on feature for sonic 2 and sonic 3 with sonic & knuckles coz we know everyone loves it. Then we will release Sonic 3 on XBLA and then after that we will release payable DLC to include the lock on feature but they have to have already paid to have Sonic 3 and Sonic 2 on the consoles seperatly as XBLA. <Rant Over>
Ike Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Sonic Mega Collection+ is apparently being released on XBL Xbox Originals which has all the Sonic games including S&K and the lock on feature.
S.C.G Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Sonic Mega Collection+ is apparently being released on XBL Xbox Originals which has all the Sonic games including S&K and the lock on feature. But that means no achievements or anything... missed opportunity much? if thats actually happening then I don't give a damn about it anymore because that will officially mean they will have no need to bring it to XBLA... so I might as well just play it on my Megadrive or Wii. :p http://www.segaonline.nl/blog/2009/02/13/sega-vintage-collection-breid-uit/ Including Gunstar Heroes... Fucking... instant... download! : peace:
Cube Posted February 14, 2009 Author Posted February 14, 2009 All these different things is just confusing. I may as well just get a wired 360 controller and get everything on PC.
