Haven't seen the others, won't watch this. Don't like musicals at the best of the times and these movies all look utterly awful. Squeaky clean role models for kids? Rebellion is truely dead.

My only experience with these movie is seeing a chunk off it on the disney channel.

Shortly after I regained my sanity while watching something violent.

I'm a straight male, so no, have not seen it. ;)

I'm a straight male and I have seen it :heh:. I've seen all three and I thought it was alright. Not the best movie I've ever seen, but it is the best out of the three imo. Liked some of the songs. It's the usual Disney squeaky-clean fun so I didn't take it too seriously as everyone else out there is :)

Haha, are there really some videos like that? *runs off to youtube*

Edit: LMAO - I just saw a video that says "the start of something new" backwards sounds like "make us sluts". I physically lold. Surely no one with an ounce of intelligence actually takes these people seriously?

Just read on Box Office Mojo, that the film made 42 Million in it's opening weekend in America. That's the biggest opening ever for a "G" rated movie, and a musical - beating Mamma Mia by 13 Million.

Overall worldwide, it made about $85 Million in it's opening weekend (With $13.5 Million of that being in the UK).

I'm not going to even bother. :blank:

You realise there are such things as straight men who are comfortable with their sexuality, right? Not everyone wants to have sex with everyone and I don't understand how seeing a film must inturn mean your sexuality should be questioned.

...Ok, fine I made my point anyway. Sue me.

Only talking from experience.

If you can show us hundreds of thousands of straight men who have seen the film, and proof of their sexuality i'm sure we'll all sleep safer.

Sweet Jesus Rok, can you not give it a rest? Don't generalise just because of your own personal experiences. To be fair, half the audience for this will be teenagers, so unless you hang around with people my age/younger then your "experience" is probably less noteworthy than mine.

I would of thought you would have been one of the most open minded users on the forum, but judging by some of your posts I obviously thought wrong.

I am open minded, but we are talking pre teen for the real fanbase, anyone aware of their sexuality and still interested is at least questionable.

By saying that, you're just proving my point. Cheers.

I'm seeing this again on wednesday with a few mates. We're getting as many people not interested in it in the slightest to come and watch it seeing as my mate that hated it before, saw the film and actually really enjoyed himself. :)

Ok then. How about my teenage experience which you already rubbished?

Put simply; if a straight mate of mine went to see it, I would no longer consider him straight. As a test, I asked a few friends on MSN just now, and all feel the same. The only reason you feel differently is because your the other side of the fence.

Haha, that's bollocks. It's just social conditioning thats made you think that. I have a fair few (most of my mates) straight, male friends. The ones that have seen it, did end up enjoying it. Does this now mean they like men? Not in the slightest. I fail to see how people can believe any different.

It's like someone mentions High school musical and you'll hear someone go "That's so gay". It's utter shit. (Then again, that applies to anything someone says "Thats so gay about", so I'm digressing a little.)

I love how you always use social conditioning as the reason for this.

Put simply; it's the sort of thing someone who is gay, will like. Someone who isn't, is far less likely too. Thats just an inherent link between your sexuality and your interests. The same way more gay guys talk in a really high pitched, camp voice. That voice has nothing to do with the fact that they are gay, but how many straight guys do you know who talk like that? And if you did hear someone talk like that, wouldn't you naturally assume (unless proven otherwise) that they are gay?

i want that Zac fella dead, hes going to ruin the next pirates, stop him before he does.

What?

Are you talking about Pirates of the Caribean?

A) I doubt anyones been confirmed for it yet, other than Johnny Depp hinted.

B) Pirates is shit.

C) Wishing death is a bit ridiculous?

Erm? Thats the first time I have ever used that argument. You're thinking of someone else.

Secondly, I do see your point now you've worded it differently. Rok was saying "is" whereas you at least said "likely". I'm just saying that I do not agree in the slightest that any straight male that sees it is obviously lying about his sexuality (This is what Rok said).

But still, no I wouldn't assume someone that see's HSM is "questionable". It's just a film. It's not like it's gay porn. These days men seem to be so much more in touch with there "feminine" sides, that it's usually easier to assume they're straight until they say otherwise anyway. (Then again, that last bit is purely my opinion, so..yeah).

But anyway, I think that's the furthest we're going to get with this little discussion, so I'll leave it at that.

Haha, don't worry. He's not in it. He confirmed this a few days ago.

I'm not lying to myself at all, I know my own sexuality and I know I am 100% straight. So you're saying straight people can't like High School Musical otherwise they must be gay? Pretty stupid imo. I'll like what I like and I'm not going to deny it. I know some straight guys who like HSM anyway and yes they are straight because they have girlfriend's/wives. I'm not going to lie about what I like and what I don't like because it don't fit with being 'cool' and neither should anyone else.

I agree with this, I just can't believe there are still people out there judging other people because of what they like and stuff, it's just wrong.

i blame the media from making people closed-minded.

the word gay replaced the saying thats lame to alot things.

at the risk of going to religious war, it was down to the christian church in the "dark ages"

Haggis and d666, thumbs up to you! : peace:

Gay guys are more feminine. That's a generalisation, albeit a relatively accurate one. BUT! More and more straight guys are getting in touch with their feminine side. And to label people who watch High School Musical as gay is quite simply narrow-minded and prejudicial.

I like the High School Musical films. I like them because they're happy and cheerful and everyone burst out into song every few minutes. Are they realistic? No. Can we gain some deep psychological, spiritual, or other important truth from them? No. What we can gain from them is a holiday from the complex world of right and wrong, morals and ethics, ponderings about the meaning of life, and hectic daily activities. We can use the films to seek temporary refuge in a world where people are simple and easy to relate to and where we know a happy ending will eventually come. Don't underestimate the importance of simple feel-good films.

That's my five cents.
