Noku Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 There is hope still. I got a response from a Beenox rep after having sent an email (imagine that). Hi, Unfortunately the screenshots you saw were taken from an earlier version of the game and do not represent the final product. The game is due out on Oct. 31st in Europe and on Nov. 4th in North America/Canada and I am sure you will enjoy playing it as much as we enjoyed producing it! If you have further questions, do not hesitate to contact me. Virginie Faucher Beenox Spread the news, and hopefully the joy!
Ganepark32 Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Yeh even with that info from Beenox, I still wouldn't get my hopes up. We all know how lazy developers can be or how aggressive publishers can be to get a title out in time to meet its street date.

Spread the news, and hopefully the joy! That's awesome, I for one take my hat off to them for replying, I just hope that the game really is a lot better than that!

They should have been in developement since the start. I mean this game combines casino royale AND QOS. its that long.

It does look quite good on the 360 though, it's using the COD4 engine.
EchoDesiato Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 That is also a good point. It does look quite good on the 360 though, it's using the COD4 engine. I thought the 360 screens didn't look too hot either to be honest.
welsh_gamer Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 This is hopeful news. Considering Activison are giving us great ports of GH4 and COD5, they could surprise us. However, I still can't belive we haven't seen more than 2 screens and no gameplay footage, and that this is out in 2 weeks!

Konfucius Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 I guess we can call ourselves lucky if we get good controls at least. I don't expect the graphics to be good because they are doing a PC port as well and for the low end PCs they already have had to scale down textures and stuff and I suspect due to laziness and time constraints they're going to use those and also forget about all the shaders.
welsh_gamer Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Wii footage : Ok, so the graphics remind me of the The World Is Not Enough on the N64 at the start, but they do seem better when there's no water on screen. Gameplay doesn't look to bad. I'm happy. TheHut dispatched my copy yesterday, but I'm keeping it for Christmas.
Noku Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I'd call you on that, and go even further by saying that it looks frackin' sweet! Shadow model more than compensates for le horrid water. Do wonder how Venice will look like that... Like a cold winter's morning when it froze all night, I suppose. Close combat looks a lot more responsive here than I experienced it on the pc demo, AND there's control customisation options. Hoping for a lot of unlockables too.
tapedeck Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Wow...looks a lot better than I thought it would. Nice surprise. The water is still awful though...
Ganepark32 Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 The water is still awful and the Daniel Craig model isn't that great but it is a big improvement.
Mokong Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 looks better than expected from that 1st screen, though that water effect is still lazy as hell, looks god in some places but others not so good... i'd like to see them license HVS Quatum 3 engine from Conduit for the next Bond game see how that goes. Controls look smooth though which is a major plus
... Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Lol, I can't believe you guys are actually saying this looks good and considering buying! 3:12 - 3:30 (and watch the video in High Quality).... Fuck me, a game with that mountain and river DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE SUPPORTED, are you guys mental? Wii can do so much better than that crap, just look at The Conduit's water or even Super Mario Sunshine's water! I admit the brickwall textures do look nice, but come on... Don't support mediocre crap.

Don't support mediocre crap. I think it's hard to tell from a Youtube Video, and what's more just because one water texture ain't great doesn't mean the rest will be rubbish. I thought it looked OK, I need to here more. Does it play well, does it have online modes, is the frame rate stable... etc.
david.dakota Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Admittedly, there's some cut backs in the background, probably to get the engine running on Wii. The foregrounds look really rather good. However, the water effects- or lack of them is appalling. Fair enough, if the Wii can't juggle the impressive foreground AND water effects reflections, refractions and dynamic effects so be it, but at least give it some transparency. There's at least a slight difference between water and paint. Overall, there's some great stuff going on here, its really rather impressive. Hopefully, the casual market embrace this due to its license. Wii needs casuals to start looking at more complex games.
Zechs Merquise Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Wow, just been checking online, it seems confirmed that we will not only have a 4 player splitscreen but also the full 12 player online multiplayer that the others are getting! Awesome news. I may well pick this one up
dazzybee Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 ONM 52% - http://www.officialnintendomagazine.co.uk/article.php?id=6261 Game sounds awful and confirms all our concerns. I fucking hate lazy developers!
navarre Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Indeed. 52%. I had high hopes for this, and was actually expecting a half-decent shooter... Looks like it's Fifa 09 for me then.
Zechs Merquise Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I got this today, was £32, I've played it a bit and can confirm that it's not all that great, and only has 4 player online. Also, the relative Mario Kart-esque points system never seems to change on mine so that's odd. My initial thoughts are that ONM have been a little harsh, but it's definetely not going to set the world on fire. This is another strike against the Wii being a serious gaming machine.
Ganepark32 Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Had a look at this in Gamestation earlier. And guess what? One of the screenshots on the box is one of the ones which is supposed to be of a very early build. Me thinks they've been lying.
Zechs Merquise Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Played it some mroe and it's not too bad, I'm actually enjoying it and the online is stable, lag free and fun! Plus the four player is very intense and the graphics are nice on it. I won a game too
