Choze Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Most fps are overly short when it comes to campaign...R2 seems interesting however as we havent even seen the later bits. It basically fits the bill for a high budget christmas fps.
Sheikah Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Looking forward to this game a lot, now. I never understood the hype around Killzone, since the first game was actually rather poor. If the demo is out for it then perhaps it has undergone a big change.
Choze Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Looking forward to this game a lot, now. I never understood the hype around Killzone, since the first game was actually rather poor. If the demo is out for it then perhaps it has undergone a big change. Some of us have played Killzone 2. But its no reason to simply knock R2 that some are doing. At Eurogamer it was still better looking than pretty much anything. Played Left4Dead at the expo and i thought it was pretty poor next to R2's coop. Graphics were poor and the game lacks variety of enemies/interesting enemies. Felt like a budget game. I can see why some PS3 owners are upset with valve, the game looks and feels last gen.
flameboy Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 Glad to hear Left 4 Dead isn't too good, I am gutted it's not coming to PS3 but reassuring to hear how poor it is...I think R2's co-op in the beta is stellar. EDIT IGN's review is up. I've strayed away from the review as don't want spoil the single player....so here is summary off metacritic... 95 IGN The single player is epic in scope and in story, which is practically worth the price of admission by itself. Then you throw in the extremely engaging co-op and competitive play, which expands on replayability in just about every way possible. Toss in a generous number of unlockables, trophies and community support, and you've got a phenomenal experience.
flameboy Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 BUMP! http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/22382 Really good episode of the 1up Show. Good footage of single player as well as some good comments on the awesome co-op...
Choze Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 yeah not worried about it. Loved the coop and the single player at the expo.
dwarf Posted November 14, 2008 Author Posted November 14, 2008 Just to remind everyone that this game comes out on the 28th this month. Just 2 weeks!
flameboy Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Cannot wait, really gonna get into the online. Even considering rushing the story on easy not something i have done before.. but I've heard the enemies still have that annoying tendency to shoot at you before they can even see you, so you come round a corner and are already getting plastered with fire, something that made even normal pretty tough in Fall of Man.
dwarf Posted November 16, 2008 Author Posted November 16, 2008 Yeah I struggled with multiple sections in normal, hopefully they have toned it down a little (at least the campaign is slightly shorter. First time through I'm gonna do it on hard so that I don't have to complete it 2 times before trying 'superhuman' or whatever it is.

Ah I hate when enemies can do that. Hopefully it should still be good though.
dwarf Posted November 23, 2008 Author Posted November 23, 2008 Aw no below is the official European boxart for the game. It's pretty bad, I might choose to buy the limited edition one because it looks so much better.
flameboy Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 I like this one; Which is the one game are using on their website and I personally think it is pretty cool...
dwarf Posted November 23, 2008 Author Posted November 23, 2008 I think it's too cliched the good vs evil thing and it isn't even detailed. In the second one Hale looks badass.
Sheikah Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Yeah, Fable II has done exactly the same thing, with the split down the middle of the page and the upside down evil guy: I still think that the box art looks better visually, though.
MATtheHAT Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I knew Edge were a bit.....well.....dodgy, but jeezus, a 6!!! http://www.edge-online.com/magazine/review-resistance-2
flameboy Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I knew Edge were a bit.....well.....dodgy, but jeezus, a 6!!! http://www.edge-online.com/magazine/review-resistance-2 I read this yday couldn't believe it! I think the multiplayer elevates it to atleast a 7/10. 6 is average and there is no way this game is average.
Choze Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Well lets see, Edge have poor record with PS3 releases though. Looked pretty epic in the demo at the expo. The online coop beta was really good. To be fair Killzone beta ruins this years christmas shooters
flameboy Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Yeah beta was really good....My GAME order is being picked and packed woot woot!
dwarf Posted November 25, 2008 Author Posted November 25, 2008 Roflmao. The beta was worth a 7 alone. Christ, Edge must be the worst magazine ever.
flameboy Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Roflmao. The beta was worth a 7 alone. Christ, Edge must be the worst magazine ever. Harsh, they do great features but their elitetist review scores leave a lot to be desired.
Aimless Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I just read the review and it seemed both fair and in-line with what I've heard from elsewhere. A lot of places are making exactly the same complaints, but when it comes to giving out a number they clearly feel compelled to give the game an 8 on account of there being so much content in there, or simply because of the hype behind the game; if this game was No-Name Shooter X would you even be commenting on the score?
Choze Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I like the coop beta. multi VS not so sure. Single Player seemed really epic based on what i played at the expo but it was only Iceland that i played. Lets see. Not preordered though But will check it out sometime.
Aimless Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Ironically, I actually do have it pre-ordered. I should get it tomorrow so I'll be sure to chime in with my impressions.

To some, like me, this game is "No-Name Shooter X". Just realised I don't own a single shoot-em-up on the PS3 and I don't plan on getting one till Killzone really =/
