Noodleman Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Inter-toto cup doesn't cup tie you for other European matches anymore. Making it even more of a shambles then it previously was.
Gizmo Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Aren't they stopping the Intertoto after this summer?
Roostophe Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Aren't they stopping the Intertoto after this summer? Yeah. Part of a UEFA Cup revamp, I believe.
tapedeck Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Had to laugh at Keano tonight on Setanta...When asked if Kaboul was coming, he replied "no", the reporter asked if there was anything else to say about the deal and Keane replied: "Maybe if I'd took him out at 4 in the morning to a casino like another manager allegedly did, we'd have signed him" That would be Cockny Harry then. I've been ashamed of the whole Kaboul saga, his agent going on record saying he wouldn't come here if there was an earthquake (wtf!?) and then him agreeing terms and Spurs agreeing a price only for him to ask for "another" 24hrs, going to speak to Villa and then Harry stating he will go to him because he spent last summer drinking moroccan coffee with his parents. Personally I think a football team is better off without that kind of "chums" attitude. I'm not bitter about us not getting the lad, it's his career afterall, just a bit shady how it seems Harry knew all along where he would end up. Good on Keane for haing a dig though.
Ramar Posted July 30, 2008 Author Posted July 30, 2008 tapedeck, don't you think Sunderland Hotspurs have bought enough of the scums rubbish players this summer anyway.
Chuck Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 tapedeck, don't you think Sunderland Hotspurs have bought enough of the scums rubbish players this summer anyway. I just want to know what got to Chimbonda to get him to sign for the mackems. Gunpoint maybe?
tapedeck Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I just want to know what got to Chimbonda to get him to sign for the mackems. Gunpoint maybe? Someone had to fuel the arshavin, 28yr old - never played in the EPL risk :p We're apparently after Saha for 10mil atm...But looky what I found: Hamstring Injury - 2008 March 20th Knee Injury - 2008 March 14th Cartilage Knee Injury - 2008 February 1st Knee Injury - 2007 October 10th Knee Injury - 2007 June 15th Knee Injury - 2007 May 11th Hamstring Injury - 2007 March 6th Groin Strain - 2007 January 2nd Hamstring Injury - 2006 November 26th Knee Injury - 2006 October 31st Sprained Ankle - 2006 April 16th Hamstring Injury - 2005 August 4th Calf Muscle Strain - 2005 March 18th Knee Injury - 2005 February 13th Knee Injury - 2004 November 19th Knee Injury - 2004 September 20th Knee - 2004 September 10th MCL Knee Ligament Injury - 2004 August 9th Achilles Paratendinopathy - 2004 April 9th Achilles Paratendinopathy - 2004 March 19th Calf Muscle Strain - 2004 February 27th Back Injury - 2003 April 19th (Fulham) Hamstring Injury - 2003 January 18th (Fulham) Hamstring Injury - 2002 September 13th (Fulham And with the above, 10mil would HAVE to be on appearances!
Ramar Posted July 30, 2008 Author Posted July 30, 2008 Saha is not worth anything more than £2 million purely because he's lucky to play 10 games a season. That much of a liability isn't really even worth trying to buy.
Fierce_LiNk Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I can't remember the last time he had a decent run in our squad. And when he does get the chance to play, he doesn't look confident, probably for fear of getting injured again, which is an inevitability.

That much of a liability isn't really even worth trying to buy. I think 2mil is about right tbh. He is an excellent player (perhaps just-about world class) when fit. Therefore any deal would have to be on appearances alone. Risky. I'm glad we've bought the Spurs lads. Decent, solid players which is what all teams need. Keane is a massive believer in having cover/players challenging for all positions so the more the merrier. Malbranque signed tonight and I'm a big fan of him so I hope he has a good season with us. Diouf was solid tonight too. Didn't give the ball away, which is what our midfield did a lot of last year.
Ramar Posted July 30, 2008 Author Posted July 30, 2008 Saha is far from world class. He's an good striker on his day. Nothing more.
tapedeck Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Saha is far from world class. He's an good striker on his day. Nothing more. 'Good' stikers are like gold dust. now steed has moved. why? Because we are offering the money and building for the future? Why not? It's not like the setup is a bad one. 40,000+ crowd every week, backing of a board with a couple of multi-billionnaires in there. Chairman who knows all about the game and Keane. The perfectionist with a vision of what it takes to be at the top. Can't see why someone wouldn't want to at least come to the club. The past is just that. I'm genuinely excited by what Roy Keanes "ideal" club could be.
tapedeck Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 But... its sunderland... They're all mackems... I know...still, it could be worse:
Fierce_LiNk Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Don't worry, he's just shifting the focus away from his loyal team's recent failings. They've gotta have something to smile about, so why not laugh at their up-and-coming rivals?!
tapedeck Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Note the guy wearing the 'Carrick' top! Wtf?! :p Yes Fierce, truth. Newcastle are going to have a really tough season imo.
Ramar Posted July 30, 2008 Author Posted July 30, 2008 Funny thing is I know a guy who works in the shop at St James' I'll have to ask him if he printed that shirt. xD
Chuck Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Note the guy wearing the 'Carrick' top! Wtf?! :p Yes Fierce, truth. Newcastle are going to have a really tough season imo. Born and bred in Geordieland m8
Iun Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Could be the guy's own surname? I have my name on my shirt.
khilafah Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 What a farce. Liverpool are desperately looking to raise money which isn’t there basing it on selling players later. Its pathetic and crazy criminal that this money we that is not even there is being spent on Gareth Barry. How many top club Managers if given £20 mil to spend on one player would pick Barry?
Jim Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 The same that would pay 20mil for an over the hill keane who's only goals last season were tap ins... I really don't think Liverpool is in any sort of financial trouble given there recent transfers, hopefully... =/ Then again, look at leeds a few years back, spent big on shit players... In other news my beloved spurs have lost Malbranque to sunderland He was in great form at the end of last season, even though he was playing on the wrong side for most of it. Lots of losses for tottenham so far, and if Berbatov goes to man utd as speculated, ohhh dear. Can handle losing keane, but both our main strikers in the one season, come onnnnn. Bentley is a decent pick up, but he's not exactly top-quality
