Oli1983uk
DONT GO WITH SKY...honestly just don't. Last year orange went down on us for no reason, so we kept waiting and ringing and ringing them eventually we got the money reduced (they charge you for leaving...50quid!), so we went to sky.. at 7oclock when theres too many people on it cuts you off so you have to turn off the modem and on again so you can get back on. Now it's gone down because of the earthquake, it's irratating, the customer service is great but the wireless is crap...just don't go for it. Try virgin. I have just joined sky and so far its been good, wireless is fine. I am paying for their 8mb service was told I would only get 4.5mb checked my speeds on the router today and it showed download speeds of over 6mb. Charlie
God, my mum spent the last four months trying to get her MAC from Orange. Still hasn't got it. Bunch of complete wankers. Try reminding them that it's illegal for them not to give it to you if you're not tied into a contract. Or if you are, you could move house. ThePigMarcher
Try reminding them that it's illegal for them not to give it to you if you're not tied into a contract. Or if you are, you could move house. Even if you are still tied in to a contract , it is still a legal requirement for any ISP to supply the MAC within 5 days of the customer requesting it. Gaggle , it may be worth mentioning the words ISPA and Ofcom in your next call to Orange. Strangely enough , supplying my MAC in a timely fashion was pretty much the only thing that Orange got right for me , perhaps they were just relieved that they would no longer have to endure my abusive phone calls. gaggle64
We have reminded them repeatedly that we have a legal right to our MAC, at assorted pitches and volumes. Apparently "they can't generate one." Bull.
Cookyman
hmm not bad but should be increased to 10mb any day now.
Platty
We have reminded them repeatedly that we have a legal right to our MAC, at assorted pitches and volumes. Apparently "they can't generate one." Bull. It is now a legal requirement from Ofcom that all broadband companies to provide the MAC code within 5 days when asked by the customer. However I have read stories about Orange having problems supplying MAC codes. Just a quick search on google brings up lots of complaints about the issue. Try searching and see if you can find a solution from someone.

We get a good service when it works, honestly I think it might be our area but that shouldn't really affect the interent, the only good thing I can say about sky right now is they are brilliant when something goes wrong, none of this crap you get with orange. I miss wannadoo...now that was good net.. Good luck getting the MAC code of orange...dear lord when we asked for it so we could jump to sky they took two weeks...-.- We got exactly the same reply gaggle, get your mum to literally scream down the phone it worked for us ^.^
Platty
I now have 02 broadband all installed. The switch over was a breeze and guess what I have gained an extra 1mb in speed.
Rummy
We have reminded them repeatedly that we have a legal right to our MAC, at assorted pitches and volumes. Apparently "they can't generate one." Bull. Next time you talk to them, give them 24 hours and tell them you're going to go above them to ofcom/the ispa/whoever you have to go to above them. I forget who it is, but tell them you're gonna go above them because they're breaking the law, and if they can't magically find you a MAC code within the 24 hours, I'd say to actually go above them. Luckily for me I never had such troubles, but I can only get VirginMedia internets as far as I know

Platty
Thought I would update you on my 02 progress. My speed has now setttled after the first two weeks of testing. Not bad seen as I'm only paying £7.50 a month for up to 8mb. with AOL for £24.99 a month I was only getting 4ish. ME = well pleased.
