There's a ever so slight flaw in your magnificent plan. How do you turn on your lights one hour before waking up without actually waking up to turn them on?

:shakehead

Well Philips seem to have a new alarm clock coming out that instead of using a sound, only has a light that gradually goes brighter over the course of half an hour or something. Basically it sort of simulates sunrise and will get you to wake up calmly... though I'm not sure it'd be the right kind of alarm clock for everyone. =P

*can sleep during the day so light doesn't really affect her sleeping much*

yeah, i've often slept from sunrise to near sunset, so light isn't a problem -- nor is noise, as the traffic outside my window will confess. It's aaaall about the physical vibrations :P

I have a standard alarm clock on my bedside table which i use to snooze for at least 30 minutes, then when the 30 minute snooze period is up my mobile, which is across the room, is due to come on and nag me up finally. The trouble is there's a snooze function on that as well which makes it possible to get back into bed.

OMG thanks! I never knew there was anything like that on the market! :yay:The Philips - Wake-up Light is it's full name. Sure, its rather pricey but I have blackout style curtains. So no matter what time I wake up my room is very dark, and recently after moving back from uni I've had trouble waking up and feeling refreshed after 6/7/8/9 or 10 hours sleep. And I have figured it's because I'm waking up in the dark.

Through more searching on the web, I've found that Lumie do a version of their own, which I think I'll end up buying Lumie - Bodyclock Advanced as they are a more specialist company for treating problems like SAD. Also my girlfriend bought the Lumie - Brightspark which is awesome, the light is so pure and white, when you walk out into another room with a normal bulb your realise how orangey yellow it is and its awful. The only plus I can see for the Philips is the sound of birds that wake you up, I imagine thats a real chiller and takes me back to my childhood of when I just lay in bed and listen to the bird sing away.

Now I've just got to man up the courage to spend ?100 on an glorified alarm clock. But I'm sure it'll be worth it!

Thanks again Eenuh for bringing this to my attention.

Geee, I dunno, maybe just sleep on time? Naturally people on these boards are probably playing their games too deep into the night, but don't lose track of your priorities; school, uni, work, LIFE!!!

I was waiting for someone to suggest this. I can't believe it took 3 pages! :heh:

I normally can't avoid getting to bed late cos of Uni work...

...Just uni work?...Its Mario Galaxy isn't it? :heh:

If only! I have uber boring essay in for Monday so things should let up a bit then...

I suspect Mario Galaxy will be the main culprit over Xmas though! :hehe:

My solution, roll onto floor (small half meter drop) and continue sleeping. :heh:

I'm off to sleep and will attempt "The double alarm, one being a mobile phone, both placed at opposite ends of the room from each other and me" technique. I hope it works.

I tried the alarm being far away from my bed trick, and I found that I'd switch the alarm off and just sleep on the floor. To this day I push myself to the brink of lateness each and every work day.

I've also tried going to bed early, yet every day I'm absolutely knackered.

Maybe you overslept.....tbh, I have the same problem! :heh:

Isn't there something about getting a solid 4 or 8 hour sleep and anything not in that pattern makes you tired or sommit?
